February 2014 post op losers
For any of you already on full liquids, does that include yogurt? And if so can you eat a normal size container in one go? I ate a small container of greek yogurt this morning and it seems like that should have been too much to each in one sitting. I had no problems what so ever.

Hey all, I've created a topic in the "post-op" sub forum ( February 14 post-op losers) for those of us who have moved to the other side AND for all of you soon joining us! That way we'll have a long term place where we can ride this journey together.

Call your doc and also see if you can take some immodium or something like that. Sorry this is happening!

February 2014 post op losers
Hi February losers! I know we've got a great group in the pre-op sub forum, but now that we are on to week two, thought we should start the thread over here too! I see a few other Feb stragglers around so hopefully they can join here too. I had my surgery on Monday 2/3. I'm down 10.5 as of one week. Not sure if this is a normal amount or not. I'm not getting in much calories, but do get in Protein of at least 50g per day (need to up this) and all my Water. I have a drain which still causes me pain. Other than that thing, I'm doing good on my incision and recovery. Today I start back up work, but thankfully it's from home and I just have to work on a laptop or computer. So looking forward to the losing phase of this journey with you all and learning and growing from each other.

anyone told to get a compression garment?
My hospital provides one. I love having it on as it makes me feel more secure and less pain when moving and even sleeping!

how is everyone doing? Who is up tomorrow? Good luck to all of those this week! I'm doing ok. My biggest gripe is my drain and it gives me a lot of pain. If it wasn't for that, I'd be doing great. I had a big day out and about and even did a movie and dinner with the family. Was in bed by 8pm though. :-) Drinking is going fine and I'm able to get anything I'm supposed to down with no problem. Post op is Wednesday.

Hungry!
I'm on day 4 post op and I'm hungry! How is that? I thought hunger would not find me for awhile. I know it's just not head hunger as I went to bed and woke up feeling this way. My stomach is even growling. I had my first Protein drink which went down fine from 8-9, now it's 10 and I'm hungry. Anyone else experience this? Thanks

zomgij, glad you are doing better! Not long now! There are quite a lot of you on the 11th. Hoping we'll hear soon from the other 2 that went this week. Today I get to try protein drink, yeah me! I'm having a vanilla unjury with unsweetened almond milk. Tummy is liking and going down fine! Yesterday I only had 145 calories so really need to step that up. I also slept in my bed the whole night! I am still having a lot of upper back pain and I think it's from sitting so much and also not wearing a bra. Claire do you live outside of London? I have a lot of family (in-laws) in Bournemouth.

Welcome Stephanie! Read up here, should help your nerves. I'm drinking the isopure now, diluted with half water to help. Before when I tried it not diluted, my tummy didn't like it. So far the best clear liquid for me is the Unjury chicken soup mix. Super yummy and 21g protein.

Nnegrette, good luck! Erin does your clear liquid plan allow for protein drinks? I can't have those until full liquids. How did you sleep? I just had a sf Popsicle and it went down great and was tasty.

Dreamingbig so sorry about your delay! That must have been so hard being already there. But it us the best thing and glad the anesthesiologist recognized it. Crake this time to relax and get well. Well I'm going home tonight! Initially thought it would be two nights, but doc thinks I'm ready. I hope he's right ! Still in a lot of pain, but just keep taking my meds regularly. Will be nice to be in my own bed. Erin do you go home too? Do you have a drain?

February Surgeries
Hi everyone, sorry to not log on sooner. I was the last case yesterday and my surgery went long as I had some lesions from where my lap band used to be. All is good though and surgery a success. I slept ok last night, but they do come in and do things every few hours. I'm pretty sore myself, hard to move around much without pain. I'm taking loratab also, and it does make me sleepy too. Yesterday my diet WAC ice chips, today it's Clear Liquids. I'm not super hungry though more just sticking to Water. I have not used one thing from my packed bag yet. Dr did say I could shower today so then I would use toiletries. Please feel free to ask any questions! Kim

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I will post as soon as I can on here. My surgery isn't until 2:30 today so lots of waiting around this morning. I'm already thirsty!

Claire that is quite a list! But I don't think too much. Are you all bringing pj's or a nightgown? I haven't seen anyone mention that, just robes. One thing I'm bring that hasn't been listed is a sports bra. I heard putting on regular bras is very hard, so a pullover one is good. I'm bringing body lotion as well, my intake nurse said the hibiclens (soap we have to wash with before the hospital) makes you super dry. hmj, SO sorry about the cold! Get sleep and also take some extra vit c. When is your surgery again? I can't believe it's happening tomorrow for me. I have a list a mile long of things to due today. Freaking out a bit. Erin how are you doing? Ready for tomorrow? tkauhi, hang in there on the pre-op, glad to see you are down despite the tiny cheat. Hope everyone else is doing ok and getting ready, this is OUR month!

Will I need help post-op?
Hi there Surgery is on Monday, so excited and nervous! I'll be in the hospital for 2 nights and my husband will be with me the day I come home. Wondering if you think the next day I'd need help or I can get up and manage myself (for drinks and potty breaks really)? I wasn't planning on him staying home from work and my kids will be at school. What do you all think? Same for Friday too? Thank you!

I got some antibiotics as the doc thinks it's a sinus infection coming on. He's good to be helping me beat this. Hoping to get another good night's sleep. Can't believe only 3 more sleeps! I've been listing out a weekly planner for my husband.

I wish I had a class like that as well. But I think I meet with my NUT 6 weeks post op and she'll go over that kind of stuff (hope so!). Well last night I wasn't feeling great, achy, cold, tired, etc. I went to bed super early and I woke up today feeling like I have a cold and my ear are all plugged. This cannot have an impact on my surgery!!!! I cannot reschedule again, I'd lose it. Urgh. I think I might stop by the doc to have him look at my ears. I had an ear infection about 3 weeks ago. If he can give me antbx now it would be great. Surgery is Monday.

Had my pre-op #2 today. Got a little nervous hearing him explain all the complications. I know the %'s are low, it's just scary. My doc has done over 4000 bypasses, so I have trust in him at least. Just hoping I'm not one of the fluke cases that goes wrong. Having some wine to calm my nerves. Going to be a long time before I'll be having wine again. Less than a week now!
