    Surprise!

Congratulations!! And yes, I can totally relate to being scared about gaining weight. It is such a head game -- and I was nowhere near my goal when I got preg.
  2. I was at lunch with a group of coworkers last week when I overheard the two men sitting next to me talking about weight loss surgery. Now my surgery is no secret at work, so of course, this pricked up my ears. They were going on and on about how WLS should be a last resort and only for the super-obese and only if there is some medical reason blah blah blah. All this right next to me where of course I can hear. Some of what they said kinda hurt my feelings even. I was just seething, and I really wanted to say something, but I didn't. I was afraid I'd go all pregnant hormonal rage on them. So, hopefully this won't happen again, but who knows? Would you all have said something?
  3. You are so right on all accounts!
  4. That's just it. We know each other very well. One guy I work with almost every day, the other I only see a few times a month, but still. Both know all about my surgery, etc. That's why it bothered me so much. I can understand that, while being aware of my situation, they still may not agree. But did they really need to bash it so bad when they are literally sitting right next to me? I guess I was just really surprised because the one guy is usually very sensitive to others. Maybe he just got caught up in the conversation.
  5. It's funny you say that... I recently found out that my aunt told my mom that the lapband doesn't work, which I felt was a direct criticism of me and my progress. The first thing I said was, OH just wait until after I give birth -- then I'll really show her what the band can do! I guess I just need to have the same attitude with those work guys.

    Intro

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am very glad I had my band before I got pregnant. I really think it has been the key to a healthy pregnancy for me. I have gained about 15lbs (I'm 32 weeks now), and I'm sure I would've gained MUCH more than that if I didn't have my band. Sure, I wish I would've lost more weight before I got preggo, but I'm also a bit older than you and that was a big factor in how long I was going to wait.

    Anyone here?

Hey Shawn! I agree -- I don't really care for the new site layout either. It irks the crap out of me when the page has to readjust itself after it loads... maybe it's just my browser! Things are good here. I'm 32 weeks preggers now! Just getting to that horribly uncomfortable stage, LOL! Sounds like you are doing fantastic -- 4 miles a day, whew! Makes me tired just thinking about it right now. I've been on and off bedrest because of my blood pressure and some other random issues, so I haven't been doing much exercise. I'll try and check in more often... Maria
  8. mypov -- I'm 30 weeks now, and I'm up almost 17lbs. Don't feel bad! I gained most of it in the 2nd tri, but things have really slowed down now. My restriction has come back and I don't have much of an appetite. I'm getting regular ultrasounds and baby is growing like gangbusters, so all is well. I'm sure I'll gain a few more in this last tri too.
  9. That would be a sticky situation! I wish I had some words of wisdom, but I've pretty much told everyone about my band. I wish you luck getting preggo!

    Did you look pregnant?

I don't think it's crazy to want to look pregnant! I feel the same way!

    High Risk Doctor?

I do not see a specifically high-risk OBGYN. I think I'm being considered a higher risk patient, but that's because of blood pressure issues.

    baby and port

Why would you not be able to have a port while pregnant? There's tons of us pregnant bandsters here, and I haven't heard of any problems yet!
  13. I got a defill at about 7 weeks preg. My doc told me I could get a fill 6 weeks after birth. We hadn't discussed breastfeeding, so I'm not sure if his recommendation will change if I do that.
  14. At the risk of sounding stupid, why are you worried about the scars? Mine have faded a good deal, but even so, I don't regularly flash my bare belly to people. The port, I can definitely understand your worry. I think there was another thread here about that and most said it wasn't visible. I can definitely feel mine more, but it doesn't stick out at all. I still have a good amount of belly fat though.

    Scared

Congrats to you! And, yes, definitely tell your docs what is going on. I got a bit of an unfill as well early on -- no biggie. I know it's a big head-game being so freshly banded, but like the others said, you can pick back up after baby comes.
  16. Yep, right around 28 weeks it came back with a vengeance! At least now I am so tired I don't have any trouble falling back asleep!
  17. Only 1 week! Wow! I have to wait 6 weeks. Just call me jealous! I've been bad with pastas, etc too. My band has suddenly tightened up on me again the last few weeks, so I've had a crash course in following the bandster rules again -- kinda wish I never stopped. Oh well. I've still only gained 15lbs at 29 weeks.
  18. Oh my gosh, that would exhaust me too! Actually I was thrilled last night because I made it a full 6 hours of sleep withOUT getting up to pee! Of course, I more than made up for it the first few hours I was awake -- I must've gone 5 times in two hours. LOL

    Anyone here?

Hey gang! Wanted to check in and say hello to you all. I have a mere 11 weeks of pregnancy yet. I promise to be here more after baby comes and I'm back in weight-loss action. I'm glad there's still some activity here. I would hate to come back and find a dead board! I know I'll need the support as I'll probably feel like I am starting all over! Back soon! maria
  20. juno610

how do you handle the fatigue?

LJM - I hate to say it, but more sleep was really the only thing that got me through. Bummer is... now that I'm in the 3rd tri, it's starting all over again!
  21. Wheetsin -- get this book: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Bargains-7th-furniture-maternity/dp/1889392251/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213870690&sr=8-1]Baby Bargains[/ame] It was a lifesaver for registering. I used it as a guide whenever I wasn't sure which out of the 100 variations of something to pick!

    Wondering how long you waited...

Promise yourself you won't get discouraged if it takes awhile! I have PCOS too, but wasn't diagnosed until we had already been trying for 9 months. Very frustrating! My OB/GYN finally put me on metformin, and 3 weeks later I was pregnant.

    Wondering how long you waited...

Aww, thanks Kelly! I know how frustrating it is to not get a response to your questions, so I try to pipe in whenever I can! Maria

    Wondering how long you waited...

We waited about 5 months before trying, but I didn't get preggo till just before 1 year out. This was with my surgeon's blessing. I didn't really plan to try that soon, but my clock started ticking VERY loudly, and we figured we'd just go for it. I had only lost 40lbs, and I really felt like I could've lost more while trying, but the stress of that plus my band being too tight kinda killed that idea.

    coming out of the closet...

    Congratulations!! That is wonderful!
