    Jammin January '07 Bandsters

Hey gals! I can't believe our huge group has dwindled down so far. I wish more peeps would come back and check in. Well, I have 1cc in my band now. I do feel some restriction, so I'm glad for that. I have another appt in 4 weeks, and I plan to lose about 5 or 6 pounds by then. I think one more fill and I should be at a pretty good spot. I haven't been cleared for exercise by my OB yet, so I'm doing what I can by watching the food intake. No more junk!

    some queries about pregnancy

I'm 5'4" and got pregnant at 234. I would have liked to lose more first, but I didn't want to wait any longer to start having children. Hopefully I'll be at my goal-weight before my next one. I had a very good pregnancy except for some blood pressure issues (not necessarily weight related). I'd definitely do it again! As for the band, I did end up getting unfilled a tiny bit in the beginning, and all the way unfilled towards the end. I didn't have any morning sickness, but I did get very very tight for whatever reason. I felt better about it just in case I did have a c-section. Plus, I was on IV fluids the entire time I was in the hospital. I lost the 25lbs I gained in the two weeks following delivery. I popped up a few since then (but I can admit I've been eating like crap). I just got my first fill yesterday, so I'm officially back on my journey. To answer your other question, I can't see why one couldn't have whey Protein during pregnancy.

    My baby is here!

Hey gang! Just thought I'd let you know I am finally a mom! Here she is: Elena Celeste born 9/12, 7lbs 12oz, 20 inches. Amazingly enough, all 25lbs of preggo weight is gone as of today! Isn't that crazy fast? I think I have band and breastfeeding to thank for that! I'm hoping to start getting filled again in the next few weeks and I'll be officially back on the wagon.
  4. I felt that way too -- even though I am nowhere near my goal weight. It is such a head game, and the extra hormones don't help! Who knows... you may lose a few pounds yet during the first tri. Do you have any morning sickness? Hang in there!
  5. Elena Celeste was born on 9/12 at 10:15 am. 7lbs 12oz, 20 inches long. And I'm thrilled to report that all 25lbs of baby weight is gone as of this morning!

Hello! Well, I'm back! Don't know how much I'll be able to get on with baby girl around now, but I'll do my best. I have my first fill appt on the 15th.

I love the name Tonya! Now we just need a badge or something to go with! :tongue2: When I started that "Anyone here" thread, I never expected it to be the one everyone posted on. I guess I should've known better. We were quite the talkative group back then!

    back after baby

Congratulations! My weight came off really fast too. Nice, isn't it? :tongue2:

    Anyone here?

Just checking... haha! To start off this lovely Friday (well, not so lovely because I have to work), I will tell you of my latest NSV -- my old scrubs fit again! And they are loose! I also had a stress test (more on that later) on Wednesday, and I did pretty good! Better than I did a few years ago. Hope everyone has a good start to their weekend! Maria
  11. Nope, he would've let me go right through delivery with my fill in place, as long as I wasn't having any problems. With my risk for c/s though, it's a little different. I've been told that for ANY surgery I would have to be emptied first, and as far as I'm concerned a c/s counts as surgery! Plus, at my hospital, they automatically hook you up to IV fluids during delivery, and I'm pretty sure that would cause me some band issues to begin with. I would say just talk to your doc about any concerns you have about delivering with a fill vs being unfilled. Who knows? We're all so different.

    Not so great news

    So sorry for your loss.
  13. Lisalu -- Actually, he would've let me stay with my original fill the whole time if I hadn't had problems. So, I guess that makes the answer no. I started my pregnancy with about 1.9cc, got unfilled to 1.3 at 6 weeks (super tight then too), then made it almost all the way before I got too tight again. I am at high risk for a c-section, so I'm feeling pretty good about having it empty at this point. I've also only gained about 5 more pounds since my unfill. Believe it or not, I still have halfway decent restriction with the darn thing empty! Laura - Congratulations!!! I'm so excited for you! Positive thoughts now! I've really had to watch what I'm reading lately -- I keep coming across all these horrible stories about things going wrong very late in the game. It makes me just want her out NOW. I know everything will be fine though. My doc was logical too, LOL! I still gained about 20, but I don't think that's too bad considering!
  14. Heidi - I had a complete unfill around 35 weeks (just because I mysteriously got really tight and couldn't eat anything at all). It took my doc almost 30 minutes to access my port and he was about to do flouro. As far as I understand, this far along flouro is OK. It's really when you're first pregnant and the baby is still doing some major development that you would want to avoid it.
  15. I'm taking PreCare chewables. They're ok. The taste is starting to get to me.

    I gained weight!!!!

I think all the extra peeing at the beginning has to do with increased blood volume. I just considered it training for later, cuz believe me, it gets much worse in the third tri!
  17. We haven't done a roll call in a while here, so I was wondering where everyone is at in the pregnancies? Anyone's big day coming up? I have a mere four weeks to go. Yikes!

    getting pregnant

I was a year out, not from lack of trying. I think there are some on here who have been closer to banding, so hopefully they will chime in!
  19. My initial unfill was at about 6 weeks. After that, it was smooth sailing until about 30 weeks, when I got the rest out. Believe it or not, with my band empty, I still have quite a bit of restriction depending on the day. I'm so glad all my fluid is out right now!

    Im preg!!!!!!

    Congratulations!!!
  21. I had about half of my fill removed at 6 weeks because I had gotten really tight. Slowly my restriction came back over the next couple months, and just about two weeks ago, I had the rest removed. I was so tight again, I couldn't get anything in and I was miserable. I am glad I was able to hold off that long in getting completely unfilled.
  22. My port is in roughly the same spot as your, only on the left. On top of that, I see a different surgeon for aftercare (my orinigal one moved to a different state). Both times I've seen him for unfills during this pregnancy, it's taken a bit of time for him to access it, but so far no problems and no flouro needed. He told me it's partly because he puts his ports in a different spot, so he's still getting used to my placement, and partly because the pregnant belly causes it to tilt. No one has said anything about the possibility of it ripping from the abdominal wall, and I've had no pain in that area.
  23. I'm 33 weeks now, and suddenly got some major restriction. I actually lost 3 lbs last week -- whoa! So, I went in for an unfill. My port is still hard to get at, which means lots of poking and prodding to get the needle in right. My mom was with me and she swears it took almost 30 minutes. Anyways, I feel much better now being able to eat. I do still feel some restriction, even with it empty, but I'm totally ok with that -- no need to go gaining 15 lbs over the last 7 weeks, right?! The good news is that I can come in for a fill as soon as I want to after delivery! For some reason, I had it in my head that I had to wait 6 weeks. When I asked my surgeon, he said, no, you can come in the week after if you want. YES!!!!!!!!!! I'm so relieved

    Unfill and good news!

Hi Sandria! Congrats on your pregnancy! If you read through some of the other threads here, you'll see that some of us barely gained at all and some even lost during the pregnancy. Personally I'm up about 20lbs at 34 weeks. My surgeon told me that I could come in for a fill as soon as I wanted to after delivery. I plan on giving myself about a week to recover and settle in with my new baby, and then I'll get back on the horse. I'm sure every surgeon is different though. Have you talked about it with him/her? Anyway, welcome!
