Kinda shocked I did this
OK,, I think you will love the sleeve over time, but you really need to follow the post op diet. I have had explained in detail why, bits of solid food getting stuck in your suture line while it is healing can cause some bad complications. I have had little bitty peices of solid food but immediately after drank a lot of water. Now since I have quit craving food it is not a problem at all. Try to keep your carbs as low as possible, and your protein. This will put you into ketosis, which also takes away your craving for food. Just be aware of the possible side effects of ketosis. I have attached a short article I just read this morning. Wishing you the best of happiness and health. Unjury Unflavored Protein
I am in agreement with the Pirate :>). Unjury protein is good stuff. I have all the flavors but have only used the unflavored once in a homemade soup. I didn't taste anything different.

My worst day thus far... feel like I'm starving...
Hey Sleeve Twin Sister,, I was craving everything really badly until yesterday, now nothing sounds good enough to eat. The food commercials were driving me nuts, but now they have no affect. I ate some cream soup yesterday got bloated really full,, I must have had to much,, but since then I don't want to eat or drink anything. At first felt very weird, but I am loving it. I just have to make myself drink & eat. It doesn't taste bad, I just don't have any cravings. So, Sis,, you get your chin up, hang in there, your loosing weight you will never regain.

Tell me this lasts!!!
Yeah Cajun!!.. This is much better than I imagined it to be. Feeling very good here, and like you I have to tell myself to eat and drink so I stay healthy,, wow,, LOL, have to make myself eat,, you gotta be kidding me.. I hope it continues like this the rest of my life. Went for a drive today just to get out. Usually my car steering wheel will try to make me turn into every good restaurant,, even the car is not craving food.. :>)

Tell me this lasts!!!
Thank you all, this is all very good news. Now I see why people use to tell me,, "all you have to do is not eat as much". No I understand what they were feeling, but they will never know what it is like to have the gene or whatever that made the cravings so strong. This is great. Wow, Tiff you hardly missed a lick after GB surgery. Your awesome.. DeeDee,, good thing you desire food at this point,, your getting skinny I don't think a little extra food will do you any harm. You are looking so fine....!

Tell me this lasts!!!
Had about 6oz of cream Soup yesterday for lunch,, felt full and bloated the rest of the day.. Did drink some Water. I thought I would really be hungry this morning, but when I got up instead of thinking about food it never entered my mind until I noticed nothing sounded good. I want nothing to eat!! OMG,, please tell me I will always feel like this.. It is a wonderful feeling. I have been craving food so much. The thought of food does not sicken me, I just don't care for any thank you. I noticed when the food commercials came on tv last night they were not having the same affect, but thought I was just feeling stuffed. This morning I don't feel full or stuffed, stomach much flatter, and still not craving anything. Just prepared some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury to get some Protein, but not that interested in it or really anything that has to do with food. I sure hope it lasts for the rest of my life. Anyone else experienced this? :lol0: Is this how skinny people feel that put down obese folks. They have no idea what it is like to have the food cravings like we have.

I love water -- again!
Just goes to show how different everyones body is. Water is tasting good to me again, I hate the sweet water now. I am 9 days out and blessed. Everything is coming along really good. The doc did a great job, loosing weight, not sick, loosing appetite after I eat/drink, and today feeling really really stuffed after 6oz of cream soup. It made so even pizza on tv commercial did not look good after it has been driving me nuts for 4.5 weeks, since preop diet. I wish everyone would go so well. I almost feel guilty. Maybe mines coming..

Just been sleeved
Bitsy, Congrats and welcome to the loosers bench. What you are going through sounds very familiar. My first few days were no fun for sure. I am in my second week, 9 days post op. I can now sleep on my stomach, almost all pain is gone and feeling great. I had some homemade cream soup today. After eating the 6oz of cream soup I was so stuffed and felt bloated. To be honest it felt great, now I know how you feel when you get a full sleeve, the same as a full stomach. You just don't want food, none of it looks good. I actually had concerns about that, I was afraid I would want to eat more even though full. Well, I have drank water consistantly since about a 1/2 hour after having the soup and I am still full, so all I am craving is water. Don't want to look at any food right now. I tell you this because this is exciting for me, I think this thing will work ..My craving is totally gone for the time being.. So it is exciting and a good feeling once through the first week, as long as no complications develope.

I am now 4 days post op!!

Concerned - should I be?
sorry for all the typing errors,, in last post..

Concerned - should I be?
I feel a pain when i turn to the left of bend over. The pain is on my left side, over on the side. I am not going to worry about it unless it starts to get worse, but other than that feeling pretty good, unless I try to take to big of a swallow. This morning I chugged some fat free milk almost like I did preop.. Paid a dear price for the error with some bend ya over pain.. That will help me to remember not to try and chug and liquids like in the old days. I just forgot,, ouch..

Protein-laced HOT Tea!
I just did and it works. I can easily suck through a straw. Eating with a baby spoon so as not to take a big bite. I used cheddar fish let them get soaked, tortilla soup, added a little lite cheese, water and unflavored Unjury. Made 4 ozs. About half gone as I type. I blended it in my magic bullet, then put in a bowl to check the texture, microwaved it. It is the texture of tomato soup, pretty thin. It is good but not quite the same as being able to chew, and miss feeling a crispy cracker. First couple of spoons actually hurt a little, but ok now. At least I am feeling full and bloated and don't have a sweet taste in my mouth.. I don't even like jello or popsicles any more and I thought I would never get tired of those.

Protein-laced HOT Tea!
Thanks Stacy.. Anyone know of any protein drink or tea that tastes like chips and salsa??? I want meaty, chipping, hot or sour stuff,, sick of sweet, but today I start with full liquids and my doc has cream soups in that category. Maybe I can take some chips, tortilla soup, a little salantro and some lite sour cream,, and blend it into a cream soup,,, what cha think?

I messed up on pre-op diet...please help....
how much weight have you lost? I would call his office and advise them, but I don't think it will change anything. Just keep the carbs super low now and protein high. I cheated some too, but doc said I did a good job. I did a few small cheats, you did one big one,, Stay positive, take control, you can do it, but do let him know prior. If he puts you off for a couple days that would be the worse case scenerio. See ya on the other side!

Calling All Sleevers
I don't think you could gain back 50% of your lost weight when you have had the vertical sleeve gast and still be getting in your protein. I am 6 days out and down 37 pounds since day started preop diet, and down 14 pounds since surgery 6 days ago. Not good for long term research however. I think after a few years most people don't come to these forums any more. Longest person I know, is 3 years out, not really gained any back, just bouncing around a few pounds on where she is. The sleeve of the past was the first 1/2 of a duodenal switch and they would leave more stomach due to the malabsorption of the re-routing of the duodenal. So if the person never went back and got the second half of the surgery they could eat more than someone having the sleeve.

After 3 weeks preop diet & 6 days Post Op

Feb 1st, for a sleeving good time
Youknowit, So glad to hear you are doing better. Yes, I made a post on a thread last night on how I was craving some real food. TV commercials are driving me nuts. My stomach actually feels bloated, but yet it growls a lot, so I keep giving it fluids, which of course run right through. I start with thicker fluids tomorrow, maybe that will quite it down some. I am down to 271lbs this morning, starting weight pre pre-op diet was 308. Loosing it so fast starting to have concerns. I am taking my regular meds plus an antacid from Dr. A. That is 6 pills which I cut in half and quarter the big ones. It takes me more than an hour to get them all down. I have concerns about a piece of one getting in my suture line and causing problems but was told to not worry about that, as pills will break down with moisture then don't need to be digested like say meat, lettuce, etc. For protein I am having one Unjury Chicken soup (which is surprisingly good) and have unflavored Unjury in my jello. I am not getting the 70-80 grams, but that won't be a problem starting tommorow since I can drink shakes and eat cream type soups.

ANY regrets getting the Vertical Sleeve?
Hey pumpkin07. Wow another Houston sleever. I was sleeved on the 1st of Feb, no regrets so far,, I am on a high. Best thing I have ever done with myself. I am sure you will be ok, sounds like you have a good support system with family. First couple days were rough, but well worth it and getting better fast. Wishing you and yours the best, keep us in the loop with how your doing.

what are you eating 2 months out?
Hope, thanks for starting the thread. It is very interesting and I look forward to being 8weeks post op. Has anyone noticed a change in their desire for food? I am a few days out and wanting some real food badly. Hope my desire goes away a little with time. Thanks all!

Sleeved yeterday and feeling bad
Hey Tennessee, I was sleeved 5 days ago, and feeling so much better now. Unfortunately I really want a Sonic hamburger,, but I know that would be sleeve suicide.. Just do as your doctor instructs you and the recovery is pretty quick. (pending any complications out of your control). I fee so good and have so much energy. My problem is now is that I can go to sleep for a couple hours then wake up and can't go back to sleep. I can live with that,, for the time being anyway. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery and many awesome 'sleeve moments' to come.

My story (pants on the ground/floor)-video
Well done mate. I do believe that is the first bariatric song I have heard. Woodlands area here, good to see someone so close to home. Welcome to VST! When I went to meet my doctor Jan 4th, I was tight in a 46 waist pant, I was sleeved on Feb 1st, and wore size 42 jeans today that I forgot I even owned it had been so long. They were not tight but did slant in the front,, LOL,, still felt good. 34lbs lost since Jan 4th.
