  1. Thanks everyone! For the most part, we eat together at dinner....but it takes me longer to eat than my husband and 3 pre-teen boys. I had to tell my husband today that I have lost 9 pounds since Dec 27th and that I'm ok with my proportions and everything. My life does not revolve around my next meal anymore and that I Do Not feel like I am missing a thing. I think once I have clarified that....he will be bettter with the change.!

    Thanks guys!

  2. With my last fill, I have notice a great change....but with that my family has too. I think they have problems knowing for one that it does take me a while to eat anything and for two that I can't eat everything that they eat....Does anyone else have struggles like this, and also what do you eat or do so its not so obvious that I can't eat what my family eats?

  3. Hi Everyone!

I was glad to see this posting. Its nice to see how people are doing. I know we all have fallen back from being on the website as much but I too have to remember it is a support group! I think I have 5cc in my band now,and my last fill I could feel a difference. Ive spent the last 5weeks recognizing and asking my self: Am I eating the right food? Is this texture going to work w/ my band? Am I eating too fast? Am I full? Is this too early for me to eat? and recognizing that I eat much better in the evening! All these things I am learning slowly almost like I had an awakening finally. Up until my last fill I didn't feel much different with my fills, but this last one has got me there. I one point I was at 35pounds lost, but last time I checked it was like 32pounds lost. I realized lately that my body could be in starvation mode, not getting enough calories probably and definately not eating enough Protein....so I have focused more on my Protein this week and went back into my exercise routine that for the last 6weeks have slipped. So again this is a journey and it reminds me everyday that I am learning everyday something new about my lapband. We all need to be refocused again on why we did this and where we came from. I'm happy that I had it done....but somewhat remorse that I had to have it done at the same time to loose weight. Goodluck to everyone!:blushing: Keep it going! Be happy to be a LOOSER!:cool2:

  4. Thanks for the poste! It kept me back in tune on things. I have slacked on my Protein as well and so excited to get my life back on track tomorrow! Ive had my step daughter for 6weeks and she went back today....I hated to wake her up in the morning and never could plan early enough to make my shakes in the evening....so tomorrow not only am I going to start back my protein but get back to my regular exercise routine! Thanks

  5. I feel the same way with eating bigger proportions with salad and healthier stuff it seems. I also was concerned on how much should I really be eating and all and my doctor pretty much said the samething. I told him I like feeling the fullnest earlier than later and he said not to go by that....but isen't that why we all got the band? I don't know maybe I'm wrong here. I think we all establish the relationship with our band....I love how you said you came up with a revelation about the band....my husband would have never understood what you said if I would have said it....so thank you for making me feel that ahhh haa moment!

  6. My biggest worry was that I was going to gain my weight back, but today after i went to the doctor i found out that I actually lost 2.5 pounds! Not sure how, but I will embrace it! I got addl 1cc in my band so now I have a total of 4cc in a 10cc band and I'm finally feeling fuller quicker! I've gone 4days without exercise and today I was able to do 2miles eventhough my time was shortened and still feel better that I was able to get back into my normal schedule! I feel so much better since I have exercised! Thank you everyone, I just was having a bummed week and feeling scared of gaining weight back, but I realize I still eat far better than what I did before the band and I do eat less than before the band, just takes a minute to realize the difference!

  7. I had my surgery on April 27th and had my first fill. I am where you are at now. Thankfully I go tomorrow to get a second fill. I felt that after my first fill I was more hungrier, but I also realize this is a journey and there are ups and downs, unfortunately this was my down time. Just stay positive, be proactive with your doctor, make good food decisions, exercise, and forgive yourself for mistakes! Good luck!

  8. :wub:Just wondering, I had my first fill last monday and it was 3cc and it seems crazy but I feel more hungry now than I did before the fill. I must be loosing my mind. I went ahead and asked to be seen soon than the two weeks and the doctor has me coming in next wed to go ahead and put more saline in the band. Would you share with me at what point did you start feeling that fullness feeling and how many cc's were in the band? I'm guessing 5 or 6 cc is an average? Just guessing though....Thanks

  9. Good for you for having such a big turn around on positive thinking and great attitude. I think we all sometimes get into a "rutt" and get down on ourselves and re-evaluate the fact that I'm not living the life I was before so is this worth it kind of thing, but now that you have taken the time and looked at yourself with where you have lost the weight at like you said in your legs and all! Thats so hard to loose weight in your legs period! Even if its 50 some pounds that is outstanding! Its not just 50 some pounds, it is weight that is absolutely hard to loose and keep it off! The band is truley about changing your habits and constantly reinventing yourself with things that make you feel good other than food, so if it feels good now that you lost weight to go and walk...walk to your heart's content! Simply Marvelous your new attitude! Good Luck!

  10. One of the best things I had was I took my chocolate Protein (Injury) added about 6ounces of milk (less milk the thicker it is if you want it like a shake) added ice and then the best of it all Jello Butterschotch flavor surgar free 0 calories to it! It was like eating a Butterfinger! Sometimes after having so many different Protein drinks in the two weeks you have to be on liquids you have to resort to trying new things! Hope this helps you!

The second best thing to have around the house is sugar free popsicles and they have sugar free fudgesicles too!

  11. I've stated making the changes that needs to happen to assure me when I get the band that well I use it to the best ability I can, including exercise. I usually do 6-9miles a week and just picked up some weight lifting to hoping have abs someday and toned arms. Do you have any suggestions on how they stated exercising and gradually worked there way up to where you are today? Its amazing how some of you guys look and I know that exercise will help me get to my goal. Please help!

  12. I think that people who don't consider the band just aren't there yet mentally to finally make that choice. Some people want to loose weight, but don't want to change their day to day habits of eating and lack of exercise. While others are afraid of the complications of some sort of havng the surgery. Me on the other hand, I lost my mother 1 1/2 yrs ago and grew up with my mom being sick most of her life. The last yr she lost over 75 pounds due to dialysis. Over the years she had struggled with her weight and wouldn't you know it took a major illness for her to finally see herself thin, but she knew she was dying at that sametime. I myself don't want my son to grow up watch me be ill whether it would be diabetes or heart. I know I can still get these diseases, but weight is a major factor in these diseases and I feel that I must fight this before it can come to me....My sister is much heavier than me and has diabetes, heart problems, and high blood pressure and when I told her that I was going to use 2k of the money from the sell of my mom's estate to pay for the surgery she didn't understand saying I thought you had other plans for that money are you really sure you want to do it? I said of coarse I want to live a qualify life. Good luck everyone and thanks for the support. I get banded 4-27!!

  13. Has anyone had to deal with insurance covering 90% and then the hospital wanting the out of pocket expenses upfront before surgery. Is this something that can be agreed upon or ? They are telling me I need 2800 upfront before surgery and I only planned for 750! Is there anything out there that says that a hospital must work w/ you on the remaining amount or is it even negotiable? Im deciding whether or not I need to possibly switch facility which means probably the doctor too. Just freaking out I will know more Monday, but I've waited this long to get approved to be told that I have to come up with this kind of money upfront before surgery!:unsure:

  14. I totally understand what you are going thru. I wasn't going to tell everyone about the band and definately wasn't going to put it on my Facebook, but my husband had told my sister n law today and its not what she said, but it was what she didn't say. I could tell that in her mind she is thinking I am making a drastic decision....and so forth. She does not know how it is to struggle for years about weight and then to watch your family get diagnosed with diabetes and heart and know that you are a ticking time bomb if you don't do something now. But I have enough confidence in myself that I know I am doing the right thing. I am making a change for myself and no one else. Its about my qualify of life, not cheating myself from a donut to be a size 10 or something. Its personal. Good luck and stay strong!
