    Decisions, decisions...

I was fortunate that my insurance approved mine, but I have yet to hear of anyone having an unpleasant experience by going to Mexico. My friend that I work with had hers done in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz and she raved about her experience. It was 6 years ago and she looks fantastic! Don't let the doctors scare you out of going to Mexico, listen to the people who have actually been there, done that and now have the t-shirt....lol! Good luck to you!
  2. Good luck to everyone with upcoming surgery dates! I was banded on the 12th and it was not too bad, as I sit here today I can't tell I have had any procedure done recently. I am struggling with the liquid diet, but it's mostly emotional/mental struggles. In the past food is what I used to calm those struggles.....so now I am a bit frustrated but trying to keep a positive attitude. I won't be on liquids forever! I have lost 23 pounds with the pre-op diet and now liquid diet...yay!

    Question re: Weight History

I was able to use pictures for two years where I didn't see a Dr. The rest of the weights they got from OBGYN, and minor care dr. My insurance is United Healthcare, I was approved and had surgery on the 12th. I did have to have six months of diet/weight related visits to the doctor....that was a pain. Good luck to you!
  4. I see that most everyone knows the size of their band, and the amount the band holds, etc. How do you know this? I was banded on the 12th and I have no idea what size my band is or if any fluid was added or not. I get hungry every 2-3 hours and still on liquids so I assume my band is empty. Is this something I will learn at my 2 week post-op visit? I haven't seen or spoken to my doctor since right the before surgery.
  5. I was banded on the 12th also, and I still have to take one of my pain pills before I go to sleep. My pain is in the port area, I sleep with a pillow under my side and it works. I did sleep in the recliner the first several days. I am battling with fatigue as well, and made a call to my dr. this morning about starting on mushies early. I just need more than liquids right now.....we'll see!
  6. I had my surgery last Wednesday, and yesterday was my first day back to work. I don't think I could have gone back any sooner, I didn't bounce back as fast as I thought I would. I had a hernia repair with my surgery....maybe that was it. I would say 4-5 days off at least, you may feel better sooner than that, but a few extra days off to relax can't hurt. Good luck!
  7. i was banded on the 12th too Teresa, and I am having chest pains on my left side too. I had to have a hernia repair as well. Im just trying to get up and walk maybe is a bit more trapped gas. I am comforted now to read that others are experiencing the same things I am, helps me rest and know this is just part of the process. Good luck to you, I hope we all get to feeling better soon!
  8. I do...August 12th! I have signed consents, and had all my pre-op testing done...I am set!!

    Pre-Admission Appt.

Wow, I had my pre-admit hospital visit this morning and all they did was draw blood and tell me a little about how things will go on Wednesday. I did speak with the anthe....the man who will put me to sleep lol! I didn't have to have an ekg because I don't have any heart problems or take bp meds, and I don't have to do any shots, but I do have to wear the stylish stockings for 2 weeks! Good luck on your surgery! My goal weight is 135 too, if you don't mind me asking have you lost 18 pounds on the liquid diet? I've only lost 10, our starting weights are almost the same!

    Weight Loss Pre-Op

My surgery is on the 12th and I am doing the liquid diet as well, my scales at home say I've lost 6 pounds but the scales at my pre-op appt at the hospital this morning say 10! I'm going with those ; ) The liquid diet is not fun but will be worth it in the end I'm sure. Losing any amount of weight helps I'm sure, I mean if you went in for emergency gallbladder (sp?) suregry you wouldn't have been on a liquid diet and they still are able to operate. I think it is also to help prepare us mentally and emotionally as well...just my opinion. Good luck on your surgery, and your new journey!
  11. I will be right behind you, my surgery is on the 12th! I know what you mean by the headaches from the liquid diet part...ugh. It's better now...not fun but a little easier ; ) Good luck to you!
