  1. After watching that tv show and reviewing my children's lunch menu, I have decided to stop allowing them to buy their lunch.

Since starting this journey for myself (& my family) to eat healthier, I do not want to "sabatoge" my efforts by allowing them to buy "crap" for lunch on a daily basis.

I really hope that this show "opens" the eyes of our schools and government and that changes are made.

  2. I had my surgery on March 9th. Had quite a scare 2d post op...? Pulmonary embolism (blood clot to lung), but am doing fine now.

I've lost 11# since surgery. I had gained 8# w/surg, but they had to give me a lot of extra fluids for my low blood pressure. All in all, I think I am doing really well. I am on mushies til my post op appt on 3/31. I pretty much eat the same thing every day and so far am very content w/that. I have had a french fry here and there as well as some meat (sm bites) from a hamburger, but no problems and definately NOT making a habit of it!

My kids and I have been walking 2.5miles daily when weather permits. So far so good!

Best of luck to all my fellow bandsters!

  3. Hi everyone...I was banded on 3/9/10 and have lost a total of 41#. (30# preop, 11# post). My port has stayed sore beneath it. Skin is tender to touch. I have no redness, hematoma's (bumps), so I don't feel that it is infected. I cannot lay on my left side or my stomach. Today while coughing, I felt a pop and severe burn. The burn is nothing new, I quite often feel it when I roll out of bed or side to side. My question is...do you think I have popped a stitch or two? Is there anyway to tell aside from going back to surgery? I have spoke to surgeon's nurse and she said to address it w/doc when I come in next wk for 1st follow up appt. I should mention that I bent over (approx 8d post op) and picked up little sticks out of yard and have been walking about 2miles almost daily---would this have done it?

    Thanks so much

    Sue

  4. I have been doing a "liver reduction diet" for the past two weeks. It is generally a low carb diet. I have lost 12#'s so far and am taking in about 1000 cal a day. I have been fighting to just make those calories. Some nights I've only been around 800. I know the biggest difference in why I am so full/content in the amt that I am eating is because I have finally slowed down and actually "chew" my food now! I should also mention that I am walking 1hr nightly on my treadmill.

I have found that the Unjury chocolate shakes are decent as well as the "pure Protein shake" that I found at Target. It comes in a can in a 4pk. It has 21g Protein, 5g carbs and 110 cal/can.

I start my liquid diet on Feb 23rd and surgery Mar 9th. I can't wait!!! Quit my diet coke addiction cold turkey just to have this surgery.:)
