  1. Who would want to eat in the restroom, so why should a baby?
  2. Where in Mexico are you going? My husband was born in Mexico. Are you going to take someone with you? I would love to hear about about your experience in Mexico when you come back. Please keep us updated.
  3. Hang in there it will all be worth it. It will be one of the best Christmas presents you could get!
  4. How do you chew forty times? Wow I can barley get in 20 times. I also don't drink for an hour after I eat and that gets easier as time goes by. Good thing to give up cokes and alcohol too. I have missed my diet coke so much. I only drink water day and night since I can not find something that taste good. Your doing good!!!
  5. Congratulations! Sounds like you have a great surgeon.
  6. I have been taking meds for depression and anxiety for about 6 years. My Dr. told me to take my meds the morning of surgery as usual. But the Nurses gave me something also right before surgery because I was starting the beginning of a panic attack. Also when I woke up in recovery the samething happened so they gave me something again and all was fine. I have not had a panic attack since I had surgery 12½ weeks ago. Which is a records for me. Make sure you stay off the caffine. Now the depression is a different story. I still have some really bad days of depression. My depression is not cause by my weight, but my depression and the way I chose to cope with it contribute to my weight problem. I still take the same amount of meds as before. If you are depressed and have not had some counseling I would suggest you do it. I had 2½ years and even though I have my bad days it has helped me so much. I think mine would be better if I could get some rest. I work 40 hours a week as a graphic designer and watch my 3 year old and 5 month old granddaughter 2 days a week from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm. Plus no mateer what I take I do not go to sleep until 3:00 am or 4:00 am. I hope this procedure will help you get off your meds. I have weaned of off them 3 times in the past 6 years and it just was not time for me to stop taking them yet. I am praying for healing in my mind so I can get off all my meds. Depression can be a dark place. But my time of relief is coming!!!!
  7. I do not know him, but since no one has answered yet. I used Dr. Spivak in Houston and I loved him just in case you do not like the Dr you are going to the Seminar for. He was really nice and so is is who staff. I was banded in July.
  8. Congratulations!! I know you must be really happy. I am 12 weeks post op and very happy I did it. I hope it will be as good or better experience for you as it has been for me.
  9. Hang in there it will get better. It is only two weeks out of your life. You are losing and not gaining that is great. I know it is hard on that stage but it will get better. I am 11 weeks post op and it is worth the trouble you go through in the beginning. Why are you thirsty you should be able to drink all you want? I don't know if you are a praying person but I prayed that God would take the hunger away. I will be praying for you Suz1! keep us updated.
  10. I agree with Linda D. You have to control what goes in your mouth and trust me I know it is hard. We all struggle with this at times some everyday. But I think you can fix this yourself IF you really want to. Maybe some counseling would help you to see why you might be setting yourself up for defeat. Going from overweight person to thin person is hard for some to deal with. It was for me in the past. Good luck!
  11. Tell them you are doing it for yourself and it is want you and leave it at that. I only told a couple of people.
  12. It sounds like like you are doing what you are suppose to do. I know that hunger is unbearable. I thought something might be wrong with me, like maybe they forgot to put the band in. But it was there. They call it “Bandster Hell” the period you are going through and trust me it will get better when you go on solids. When I was on mushies I just had to measure out what I ate or I would want to eat a whole bowl of mash potatoes. Like I said during that time period it is almost sheer willpower. Do you have a good support system at home? That always helps. If not find you a good buddy on here and e-mail everyday. I meet someone that I do that with and it is a real help even though my husband is a great source of support he does not really know what it feels like to be addicted to food and then it is taken away from you. I am sure you would rather talk to a guy but if I can help you with anything feel free to private message me or e-mail me. I will be here for a while I have about 85 lbs I want to loose. These people here have been a great support system for me and will for you too. Keep in touch!
  13. Congratulations to you. Everything will be okay and you will be home before you know it. I will say a prayer for you! Let us know how it goes.
  14. Sorry if you were looking for answers from a guy? I was banded on July 13 and whoever told you, you would not be hungry lied if you ask me. I was only on liquids for 48 hours and then on to mushies. I was hungry day and night. I was hungry when I was asleep. It was not until I got to solids at 4 weeks post op that the hunger stopped. I went in for my first fill at the same time and then had about 6 weeks with no hunger at all. I ate between 3/4 cup and 1 cup of mushies 3 times a day. It is so hard the first month I tried to just drink as much Water as I could to kill the hunger pains. coffee is also a good hunger killer. If you can just use your will power for the first month it will all get better after that. I am now 10½ weeks post op and had my second fill. I am only at 3ccs and I still eat about 3/4 a cup of whatever I eat. I can eat everything I have tried and have only been stuck twice. It will all get better as time goes by. Hang in there you can make it!!!
  15. Welcome to the boards. Everyone on here helped me alot before and after surgery. Their support helps alot. I hope everything works out for you and you get to have your surgery soon. I am 10½ weeks post op and I am so happy I did it and I was self pay.
  16. I was hungry day and night until I got to start eating solids. Drink as much Water as you can, but the hunger will only be for a short while. A couple of days after starting solids I had my first fill and then hunger stopped for me. Now I have my second fill and I feel some hunger but it is not to bad. Just try to make it until you get to start on solids. I lost 9 lbs. the first week and then 2 lbs a week from then on. After a month passed I started exercising every night for 30 minutes, I have a total gym that I work out on
  17. Oh my gosh if you had natural childbirth you can do this in a minute. It is not that bad really. I was self pay too, but I used a Dr in Houston Texas. Will they keep you in the hospital overnight or put you in a hotel? You will be fine and I hope as happy as I was when it is over.
  18. Can you feel the device once it's in? NO NOT AT ALL Any complications at all? NONE Ladies: Can you take birth control afterwards? YES I DO Sex: When can you start up again, and is it safe...? MY DOCTOR SAID WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE IT BUT NOT IN THE HOSPITAL!!! Did you experience a lot of vomiting? JUST ONCE WHEN I GOT A PIECE OF pizza STUCK Will you ever be able to eat food? YES YOU JUST HAVE TO EAT SMALL BITES AND CHEW AND CHEW AND CHEW Right after surgery, what did they give you for nourishment? I WAS ON LIQUIDS FOR 48 HOURS AND THEN 4 WEEKS OF MUSHIES, BUT EVERY DOCTOR IS DIFFERENT How much weight did you lose within the first month? I know it's slow and healthy weight loss, but do you feel like it goes quickly? I LOST ABOUT 9 LBS RIGHT AFTER SURGERY THEN 2 LBS A WEEK SO FAR Any change in emotions? THE FIRST COUPLE OF DAYS I JUST HAD SOME MINOR PAIN THAT THE MEDS HELPED WITH. I WALKED EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR ABOUT 20 - 30 MINUTES FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS SO I DID NOT HAVE GAS PROBLEMS A LIKE SOME PEOPLE DO. I WOULD WAKE UP AND THINK I MUST HAVE DREAMED THAT I HAD THE SURGERY AND HAD TO LOOK AT MY SCARS TO BE SURE. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE DONE FOR MYSELF. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DEAL WITH SOME EMOTIONAL THINGS IF YOU USE FOOD FOR COMFORT LIKE I DID. BUT IT IS WORTH GIVING UP ANY BITE FOOD FOR THE RESULTS YOU GET IN RETURN. Good luck to you! Hope you make the right choice for you.
  19. Wow Mexico that is a long way from where you live. You do not have much longer to go. What part of Mexico are you going to? My husband was born in Mexico. Don't be nervious. It is a pretty easy surgery. I am a big baby when it comes to Drs or hospitals and I did it and am very happy. It will be over in just a few hours and you will be home before you know it. Is someone going with you?
  20. I have clinical depression and extreme anxiety, I have had it for about 5 or 6 years, I take meds for both. I am 10½ weeks post op. I knew I would have some problems because food was my friend, my comforter and it would not be there for me like before the band. I take meds but still have struggled some with this. I would suggest that you find a counselor and get into some talk therapy. I did 2½ years of it for different reasons but you need to talk about whatever it is that is making you reach for food for comfort. Seeing a counselor was the best thing I ever did for myself, EVEN better than getting the band. Also there are a lot of different breathing techniques you can do to help with anxiety. If you goggle it you should find some. I use them some and they help. Are you working out everyday? That would really help with the anxiety too. Your regular Dr should be able to give you something for anxiety. Just go and talk to the Dr. You don't have to take any tests. Most meds for anxiety are take as needed meds so you do not have to wait 4 or 6 weeks for them to build up in your body like a depression med does. A small dose of Xanax would probably help you. If you ever need to talk just private message me.
  21. Also when I get them they hurt. They are really bad hiccups not normal ones. Is that how yours are?
  22. Are you in the mushies stage? If so I ate mashed potatoes, applesause, chucky soups. What are you eating?
  23. I do the same but it is when I have eaten too fast. Sometime I do it after two or three bites from eating too fast. That may not be why you get them but it is why I get them.
  24. I don't know how much spanish you know. But my husband is hispanic and in their country the more heavier, curvier women are more favorable. Maybe you will getting a compliment and and did not get it all. Don't let anyone discourage you.:tongue2:
  25. I am 10½ weeks post op. I have eaten some Special K Protein Crackers and I had no problem with those. But decided not to buy anymore because they are “triggers” for me to want to eat. I have also eaten some thin crust pizza and it was fine. But on Tuesday I had my 2nd fill and on Thursday tried to eat a very small piece again and it got stuck and I was in terrible pain for a couple of hours. it was my fault I did not chew well, so when you add bread be sure to take small bites and chew well. I have stayed away from pasta and rice as per my Dr.
