    Now I know why....

Don't give up there are a lot of nice people here but sometimes it takes some time for people to answer, be glad not just everyone answers no telling what you might hear.
  2. I had my first fill at 4 weeks but was told to lose 15 lbs and then come back for second fill. So who knows how long that will be?

    First time here

Congratulations to both of you! I am 5½ weeks post op and very happy I did this. No regrets at all except should have done it sooner.
  4. I am glad you are home and everything is good for you. Try to rest some and tomorrow will be about the same but then you will start to feel better. Congratulation!!

    Tomorrow...

Good Luck to you and to you too “dgrimes” Hope all goes well for both of you. Let us know how it goes!!
  6. I went back to work in 3 days and really needed at least one more day. The day after surgery I stayed in bed the rest of night except to walk 20 minutes up and down driveway. Next two days I was in the house only except for the 20 minute walks. I would take at least 4 days off if I had to do it again, but like they say everyone is different. But 2 - 3 weeks is too long for lap band unless you want to add a vacation in there too.

    Any last minute advice?

Yes! Don't forget the pillow. I had an hour long ride home in stop and go traffic and you need a pillow to hold against your tummy. After surgery I walked with pillow pressed against my tummy and it helped too! Good luck!
  9. My first fill felt like a bee sting but it stayed that way for about an hour afterwards. It hurt some.

    Holy Crap!!!

It will be nice to get it over with. Now you won't have so many days to be nervous.

    Starting this JOURNEY!!!

Wow it is really different in the military huh? I think if you are sure this is right for you, your family will come around later when they see it works for you. My husband has watch me diet and diet for almost our whole 29 years of marriage. So he is supportive. He has been 145 lbs his whole entire adult life, eats everything all the time and never gains any weight. I hope you get the surgery soon if that is what you want. I am 5 weeks post op and am very happy I did it, just wish I would have done it a long time ago.
  12. I am 5 Weeks Post Op. and I need a buddy that wants to talk everyday or several times a day. I do not have a support group to go to and need a buddy. I am 48 years old, married, grandmother, work as graphic designer for print shop but work from home. Have clinical depression that I take meds for. But not down all the time it comes and goes. Just want a computer buddy to talk to.

I wonder why they put my port there. But I know it is there cause that is where Dr. filled it and put bandaid and it hurt after fill for a little bit.

That is where my port is, is that where yours is? I know cause that is where my Dr. put fill in at. Some people's are lower on the side.

I think I chated with you in chat room? (Depression bad today) Just be sure and buy the things you need for the first couple of food stages you go through before surgery because you might not feel like going to the store. Also make sure you take pillow with you to hospital for the ride home. Hold it against your tummy for when there is bumps. I learned that here and thank God I took one.

    Should I Be Concerned

I was banded on July 13, 2009. So I am only 5 weeks post op. I was very hungry all the time until I went in for a fill at one month post op. I got 2ccs. I think from what I understand that you are not going to get that full feeling until you have some fills. The first month is for healing and you kinda have to go on just go on willpower to loose anything. Just eat like your Dr. told you and do not snack. I lost only 13lbs from surgery to one month and I was hungry all the time. But when I had the small fill, I am not hungery at all. I eat the 3 small meals but I am never hungry right now. I do not know how long that will last, but it make this whole thing easier. Now my mind is still hungry all the time. food is my friend and when I get depressed I want to eat for comfort and am not getting to do that so my depression gets bad. But today is one week since I had my 1st fill and I still do not feel hungry, hope it last. Just hang in there and stick to your meal plan and drink lots and lots of Water.

Banded Aug 10th - just tired...

I think it is just normal to be tired. I was suppose to go back to work 3 days after surgery and I went back but was so tired I would have been better to take off. Did your Dr.'s tell you to crush or dissolve all you pills before taking them? I have to crush all my meds. I was banded on July 13.

exercising for two weeks post op

By some DVD's to exersice to. Or just put some music on in your room and dance around for 30 minutes that is good exercise and gets rid of stress. No one can see you if you close the door.

Got to get my eyes on the prize!!!

My doctor said no pasta, no rice, no bread, no seed, no nuts, no popcorn, no cokes or diet cokes and do not drink my protein but eat . . . it but that is my doctor, others on here do eat those thing, their doctorss are different. So I do not drink any protein shakes at all, but I do eat Special K protein bars, anything else I am suppose to eat a total of 5-6 ozs. total each meal, but 2 -3 meals a day, with no snacks. And WATER, WATER, WATER

    OMG I?m Starving

You used Dr Spiegal in Houston? Do you have any information about a support group in the Houston area? I used Dr. Spivak in Houston and love him, but his support group is very far from me. Looking for a support group. Glad everything went good for you. You will be feeling great before you know it, but you do need to rest some.
  24. I would call too. I would call Monday morning early so they know your really want that date. I will pray over the weekend that everything will work out for that date. God moved moutains He can get you a little surgery date!! You have all your food ready and overnight bag ready? I know you will be so happy when it is over. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and wonder if I dreamed the whole thing. I really do look at my scars some mornings. My meds make me have strange dreams alot.
  25. I am looking for a buddy that might in the same area as I am. Or maybe someone who used Dr Spivak. Also support groups in my area
