  1. That's fantastic! So how much water/ Protein drinks do you get down in a day? Do you mix Protein with your Water or actual Meal Replacement drinks?

I'm drink between 37.5-45 grams of protein a day and I.m not sure on the Water I am sipping all day. I'm sure I could be drinking more water its just hard because I focus on the protein. When I first had my lapband it was never a problem for me to get my daily protein in through food, but I did find a Protein Drink that I liked and I still use. I can't drink that powder stuff, I drink the Atkins Protein Drinks that's the only brand that I found that I like best.

  2. That's good to hear though as my big day is comin soon:) you know what else is nice? That there is barely no complications on the board' date=' granted its a newer surgery, but that's still nice! Keep in touch! Are you still on liquids then?[/quote']

No I'm on what my Dr. calls a soft cream diet day 6-10, its anything you can mash with a fork. The only thing I've really eaten are Soup, pudding, and mashed potatoes. I have 1/2 cup at a time and that's all it takes. And of course I'm still drinking my Protein as well.

  3. What is the difference in feeling? Just curious as I considered the band initially:)

I know everybody is different but when I first got my band I was still hungry after surgery (granted it was empty) now I seem to not be hungry at all. Plus I losing more weight now with the plication then I did before with the band. I'm not saying that plication is better than the band because it to early to say that but I am noticing differences and its only been one week.

  4. I have a little patch behind my right ear but i don't know how long it will last

I had the patch also and I had to remove it on Thursday, ( I had my surgery on Wednesday) it was making me sick. Once I took it off my stomach felt better within an hour, but you should have medicine for nausea as well. You should call your doctor because you don't want to vomit.

  5. My advise stop looking!!!! I did the same thing as you and got real nervous even did it right after surgury and freaked out my husband and he started looking wow I wish I never wasted my engery and nerves lol I love how I feel no complications at all Down 21lbs and 18 inches and I hope everything is fine I try to think less about it and say I know how I feel and if I don't feel right I will go to a hospital withy records and they will have to fix me we have the best hospitals here and I feel confidant that I will not be the one that has a problem dr corvalas told me complications happen in the first 24 hours if they are going to I think there is always a worry with any surgury but also think I would not have these feelings if I had it here any help I can be let me know!

I agree with Davell23, you will hear good and bad things about all of the weight loss surgeries. Everybody is different and their bodies will respond differently to each surgery. I know it's hard not to worry but try not to, you will drive yourself crazy in the end. Going into my surgery I told my doctor if anything went wrong I was leaving, it was a sign I shouldn't have the surgery. Well my surgery went off without a hitch, in fact all I do is laugh when I think about how we acted up Wednesday morning. I was all worried for nothing. I would focus my mind on what changes need to be done after the surgery. Like eating slowly and smaller portions.

  6. I'm happy it went so well for you! So the lapband was removed then? I see some get both! Can I ask you why you chose plication instead of sleeve? ( I ask myself the same question as the time gets nearer lol) anyway I'm glad you are doing well! Back to the liquids hey!

I actually got both band with plication. I personally didn't want to do the sleeve since it cuts off some of the stomach, and plus it get the benefit of the band if I need it down the road. Yes I'm back on liquids but its not that bad this time right now I'm not even hungry I hope it stays that way till I can do soft foods.

  7. Good for you! How are you feeling? How was your experience? Where did you have it done?

I'm feeling fine, the only thing I feel that's different from just the lapband surgery (remember I already had the lapband it had slipped) is that my stomach is making noises kinda like when you are hungry but I'm not. The whole experience was wonderful from the nurses to my doctor. First of all I was the first one scheduled at my request, so when I got there it was really quiet until we had everyone laughing. My nurse pulled a joke on me, I told her I was afraid of her not finding my vein because its always been an issue. But she got it on the first try, then she said that the IV wasn't working but it was. Then my doctor comes in with a big smile on his face and gave me a big hug. It was the best experience I've ever had it really didn't want to leave. I had my surgery at the Fort Worth Surgery Center in TX.

  8. Bos123' date=' I will try and answer your question the best way that I can. Now this is MY thoughts on this. Others may feel different. I was banded 7 years ago and when the band and I were in complete harmony, it was a feeling of "putting on the brakes"! You suddenly knew and felt when to stop eating or you could get "stuck". Or I could help wash it down with liquids which totally defeats the whole idea and purpose of the band. So far, with my I-Band (band with plication), I am getting a genuine full feeling that comes about gradually. I am only 13 days out of surgery, so perhaps this may change. I hope not! I am getting full on 3/4 - 1 cup of pureeded food! My new band is empty so this is most likely all from the plication! One thing that I am seeing though is that my "fullness" only lasts for about 2-3 hours. Maybe when I start eating foods with more Fiber and substance, the full feeling will last longer. I hope this helps you.[/quote']

So RayLandry, right now you are just feeling full but eating less, is the feeling uncomfortable?

  9. I am scheduled to have my revision surgery (band with plication) on November 14th, a birthday present to myself. I have already had 1 slip repair surgery and I think this will be my last attempt. I've been reading a lot of success stories on different forums and decided to go with band and plication surgery. I absolutely love my band and hate that it slipped. I guess I just wanted to get some reassurance from people who have had the band with plication or plication surgery. I'm a little afraid of the plication only because its new to me, but I felt the exact same way before I had my lap band surgery. Any response is welcomed.

  10. Honestly I haven't really thought about it not getting approved, just waiting on my doctor's office to schedule my surgery date. I've switched insurance companies since I had my original surgery, and my new insurance does cover it.

As far as any signs, I really didn't have any pain, I didn't even know that I had slipped till my doctor showed me on the xray. I do recall being able to eat more than usual so I made an appointment to get a fill. He said that it was a small slip and wanted to correct it so I wouldn't have any problems in the future. I was able to see my before and after x-rays and you can tell that it is not in the same positon.

So now my band is pretty much empty and I am working out like crazy so that I don't gain to much weight.

  11. I am going through the same thing, I had a small slip and my doctor took all the Fluid out of my band. I had to wait to weeks to see if it moved back into place. When I went back in 2 weeks all looked fine so he added some fluid. I had to go back a week later to check the band again, this time the band had moved again and he stated that I would need to have surgery to correct it. So now I'm just waiting on the insurance company to approve the surgery.

  12. It's almost a year since I've been banded 10/28/09 and I'm down 60lbs!!! I've never felt or looked better and I do look good. When people ask me was the WLS worth it, I respond HECK YES, should have had it sooner. The only bad thing is having to buy new clothes but is that really a bad thing? I'm only 30lbs to my goal and I know that I will make it. Just wanted to share my success story with everyone.
