  1. I was i the same position you are in now. After my surgery I had no restriction and I had to wait I think over 2 months for my first fill. I have had my 2nd fill and my 3rd in another month or so. I have some restriction but not enough. So my only advice is don't put all your hopes in that fill only because like me you may need more. And you might get defeated if you don't feel as tight as you want. You are not alone I totally get where you are and I think it is normal because it is the anticipation of what is to come. And also so many of us just want to know what the tightness or the "sweet spot" feels like! And lets face it we are very over eager! Good Luck! Alison

    Can I do this??

I have no problem with pain but I would not like to be around all those people so close to the surgery date. And I didn't have pain but I was tired...I slept for days! I say no and I can bet your DR would say the same thing.
  3. I don't know if this really helps but I used conditioning shampoo and no conditioner and that seemed to have less hair loss. I have a ton of hair so I am not too worried about the loss but the times I have done this I come out with less hair loss.

    2nd fill

I am 4 months out and had my 2nd fill on 12/14 and i am at 4.5 cc's. That does seem fast I guess you have to trust your doc but I would be afriad of band erosion.
  5. I had surgery 7/27/09 and I have lost a total of 47 lbs. I have my second fill on tuesday so hopefully that will once again kick start my weight loss. I too have stalled out over the last 2 maybe 3 weeks. So I need a good swift kick in the butt. I actually forget how many cc's I have I do know it is probably no more than 2 or so. I too can eat just about whatever I want and as much as I want. I am looking for that ability to go away. Ali
  6. I gained four pounds in fluids so 5 lbs wouldn't be an unreasonable amount of weight. That will come back off I can't remember how quickly it came off though.
  7. Your health is more important than the video game. I get it is fun we all have or outlets for fun but working out is more important. This will give you a chance to look at the dinner and prepare it healthfully. Also you could pack your lunches for the next day in order to make sure it is a health lunch. I'm not perfect...I am at a stand still with my weight loss for the last couple of weeks. So I like you need to get back on the wagon. I have to log my food and workout more. It is easier to say than it is to do!

    Foreign object

Wait until you start losing weight and you can see it! I can totally see mine a good part of the time and other times I just feel it. When I talk about the band I actually subconsciously touch the port site! Very weird I know but it is kind of cool in a way!
  9. My God I thought I was doing well with 47 lost since 7/27/09!! Very good!!
  10. Does anyone go to support meetings? Do you really feel that they work? I don't go but I am thinking about going but curious if anyone feels that they have helped or haven't had any effect.

    People are just Rude!

Gosh people are ballsy you probably wouldn't mind if they didn't say anything to your face. Why do people think it is their right to comment on other peoples issues? Would they like it if you found out they had high blood pressure, high cholestrol, or depression and made fun of that...I don't think so! Tell them to knock it off!

    Sil?

I had a single incision I didn't know it would happen that way. My doc said he would do the surgery with as few incisions as he could. It ended up that is what I woke up to. My one incision is about a 1/4 of an inch and then of course the place where the port was put in. I would not have cared either way.
  13. I took 2 1/2 weeks. It was really 18 days with weekends I work a 4/40. I could have gone back earlier but I would have been really tired. I was tired for the first week or so. I think sleeping and relaxing is a big part of healing.
  14. I have lost 37.2 lbs in 15 weeks. Two weeks pre op diet I lost 8 lbs. So almost 30 lbs after. I would figure 1-2 lbs a week. You may lose more one week the next you may lose none so I find this to be a good barometer. One other thing you need to take into account is that you don't have as much weight as the rest of us to lose. All that have answered thus far want to lose over 100 lbs. I am sure you know those that have more to lose tend to lose faster...at least in the beginning. Hopefully you will be taking a good amount of time off of work. Take it easy don't freak if you don't lose anything significant in the beginning. Take control by keeping track of your food that will get you through banders hell. This will make your time in the first two months easier. Take control before this time period controls you! Alison

    Pounds & Inches

Fatty no more, I started at a size 20 pants and I am probably a 16 in pants and usually XXL now I am XL in tops sometimes L. It is tough because everything is cut differently as I am sure we are all aware of. Overall I have lost 44 inches as of this morning. Of course that is all the things I measure which is a lot of things. In the hips I am at 7 lost started at 48.5, waist I am at 4.5 lost started at 45, chest I am at 4 lost and started at 42.5. I have lost 31% of the weight that I started out wanting to lose.

    Pounds & Inches

I have been measuring myself from the beginning. I have always, anytime I tried to lose weight, measured myself. I measure my neck, arms, breasts, chest, lower belly, thighs, hips, waist, midsection and calves. I know it is a little much but I want to track it so when I don't lose weight that week I may have lost inches and that will keep me motivated. I put on a pair of jeans today since it was actually raining here today and they were way too big! And I had to wear them because I haven't pulled my smaller sizes out of storage yet...I guess I'll have to do that soon! I track my inches on a excel spreadsheet and it automatically subtracts as I go.
  17. I haven't started feeling like this yet but I know I will! That is why I have a therapist for when I feeling like this because you are not going to break this without having a good therapist to talk these feelings out. You have to reprogram your self. And trust me it is hard but therapy while it can be expensive, I pay $85 a session, it totally is worth it! I have been before and it is important to find someone you are comfortable with. I soon will find myself back in the chair!! I know that for sure!!1

    sleep question

For me it took a couple of weeks after sugery to sleep on my tummy!
  19. I am 81 days out from the start of my pre op diet as of this point I have lost about a 1/2 lbs a day. Now I am not telling you this to brag and I to will plateau at sometime and I am totally dreading it! I have been eating between 1200-1500 calories a day. I too keep track on thedailyplate.com. I workout about 4-5 days a week. I think that you may be eatting too little. I get about 70 g of protein a day. I don't know why the doc would have you on such low cals. Aren't you hungry??? I again not to brag but I eat low cal ice cream too. Not everyday but fairly frequently. It seems as though you are set up to fail (I know the doc wouldn't do this) because it is hard to stick to so few calories.

    Outpatient vs. Inpatient

I didn't have a choice I had to be inpatient. My doctor chooses that for all his patients because it is believed if the patient goes home the rate of death goes up. My doctor has never lost anyone and he has done thousands of these surgeries. I would choose inpatient over out any day. Ask about the complication/death rate of your doctor with outpatient vs inpatient. They should have these stats and give them up readily if they don't RUN!!!
  21. I have never had trouble with beans but you could always puree them and still get the flavor. Some quick easy meals for work I use 1 sandwich thin and 2 hebrew 97% fat free hot dogs. I still drink shakes in the morning. Yogurt or cheese for snacks. Love the Morning star or Boca burgers....usually with the sandwich thin. (Can you tell I like these!!) Ice cream for dessert the yogurt or carb free. I usually put fat free or sugar free jelly or jam. I am surprised to hear so many docs say to only eat 3 meals and no snacks that I think sets most up for failure. I eat between 1200-1500 calories a day and at 60 days post op I have almost 34 lbs. I don't snack all day but you need something satisfying.
  22. I actually just started taking Vitafusion. They are gummies in the adult vitamin area. They come in calcium, multivitamin, Vitamin C & D, and Omega 3. There are others but they weren't at my target. I enjoy them and they are a little bit of a treat when I take them.
  23. I think that comparing yourself to others is completely normal. I do it with the weight loss that I see in the tickers. I had to finally tell myself not to do it anymore(I still do it anyways!). I stopped my pain meds right after I got out of the hospital. And the pain was intense but I think I have the same theory as you. I try not to depend on the medicine. I walked a lot which doesn't sound like a problem for you. I also took off 2 1/2 weeks which equated to 18 days total.(I work 4 10 hour days) I have had bouts of consipation I drink Smooth Move tea at night some nights it doesn't taste great but it works.(Tastes better than that crap they tell you to take you can get the tea at Target) I will say I think most everyone have that feeling that they made a mistake getting the band. I cried because of the pain and even though I knew it would be and has been the best decision for me I still thought it was a bad decision. I think everything you are feeling is totally normal. Don't compare yourself you are going at the pace your body will let you. I am glad you are feeling better!

    Uncontrolable Gas

I have the same problem the OTC stuff doesn't work. I just had a fill on Tues and talked with my doc and he suggested probiotics. So I looked up probiotics and there a lot of different kinds out there so I haven't figured out which one will work best. I am still researching but it seems from what I read thus far it might actually work. I am going to start with activa yogurt and see if I can take a supplement instead of that yogurt. As I usually it the carb masters yogurt that is chalked full of protein!
