Not A Glamourous Topic...
Humming Bird replied to BandedBanker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a huge fan of Vitafusion brand fiber gummies (Target). I eat one about 5-6 mornings a week and stay regular. This brand is very soft, easy to chew and tastes great. -
I would say ....no. I'm a dental hygienist....... you should go see a dentist and make sure about the teeth. Are you asking about your teeth or someone else?

Most types of bread give me trouble including pizza crust and tortillas. If I crave something that is like bread I do ok with reduced fat wheat thins.

Will Shoulder Pain Ever Go Away??!!!
Humming Bird replied to Cindyjoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is not trapped air from surgery. That only lasts a couple days at most. It is pressure on your phrenic nerve. Mine was very bad for quite a few months, but then pretty much stopped unless I eat a couple bites too much. I think after I dropped about 45 pounds the pressure wasn't so bad. I used menthol pain Patches from Walmart at night and that seemed to help quite a bit. Maybe since it happens after you eat you need to watch for a more subtle full signal than the one stopping you now. If I eat until I feel satisfied, it is sometimes too much. Now I stop when I have a mild loss of interest in the type of food I'm eating at the time. There was a great bandster here at LBT (elfiepoo ,she doesn't post here now) who had her band removed because it was causing constant pressure on the phrenic nerve and the pain every day was just too much. I hope you find a way to avoid the shoulder pain. I know it is very hard to deal with. Two years is a long time if it happens often. -
Much of the sweet spot / green zone / restriction thing depends on the size of the band and the thickness of the tissue and fat that is inside the opening of the band. I reached my sweet spot with fill #2 (a total of 5,3cc in a 10cc band) and dropped 100 pounds in 1 year with that. I am now at 5.7cc.

How Much And How Long??
Humming Bird replied to Ami Faught Crittenden's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In general, it's 1/2c. For me it means 1/2c chewed solid food. For example, when I go to Chili's I drink a glass of wine or a margarita (drinking all of it before my first bite of food) and have a bowl of Soup. (they have very good soup) Depending on the type of soup, I can eat the entire bowl which is more than 1/2c, but when I reach 1/2c of the solid parts I get my full signal. -

I'm having the same trouble and a few other problems. I got a new laptop for Christmas and am unable to post with it and the last few posts on threads are on top of each other along with adds so I can't even read. That is on a brand new computer that has seen very little use.

How Do You Deal With Negative Feedback From Family, friends, coworkers About Being Banded?
Humming Bird replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told everyone from day one and in over 2 1/2 years have only heard one sort of negative comment. I have dealt with negative comments from people throughout my life though. I have found the best way to deal with negativity is to let it roll off me like Water off a duck's ass. Be the duck! Life is too short to deal with negative stuff. -

Lap Band Is Not Reversible. Why The Sleeve May Be A Better Choice.
Humming Bird replied to crystalny's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Much of this information by the OP is misinformation. I have been banded since July 2009 and have not spent my time in Dr.'s offices and never made a trip to the ER. I could go on point by point, but it sounds like the OP has made a choice and I support that. -

Band Removal Due To Reaching Weightloss Goal
Humming Bird replied to Yve's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been in maintenance for about a year now and would never remove a drop unless I had no choice due to a medical problem. In fact I have had a couple tiny maintenance fills. For me, staying in the green zone keeps my weight in check. My weight stays the same within a pound with very little effort. -
Lap Band Yesterday, Nausea Today
Humming Bird replied to mere0023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The anesthesia always does this to me after surgeries (I've had 4). I think I also have trouble with opiates and I forgot they bothered me. They gave me liquid vicodin for post-op pain med ....uggh! I took the vicodin that first night and then remembered the stuff makes me feel like crap, so I stopped taking it. I found that the post-op pain was not bad at that point. What I did was keep a large ice pack on my belly (high and to the left) and found that helped quite a bit with keeping the swelling down. As soon as the anesthesia got out of my system more, the nausea was much better. Is your pain bad enough that you really need to take something? Have you tried Adult liquid Tylenol? It is key to stay hydrated. Can you keep liquids down by taking very tiny sips often? If so, try to sip on some liquid Jello. Just mix up the jello like normal, but don't put it in the fridge to jell. Save some out to sip on. It also works very well to decrease the nausea feeling. As each day passes you will be doing better.......hang in there -

Emergency Surgery For Band Removal 3/22
Humming Bird replied to Mpurnell617's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
40 lbs in a week sounds like a danger sign to me. With that much fluid building up so fast you could be in real trouble. if it were me I would call the surgeon's office first thing in the morning and tell them you need to be seen ASAP. I would not wait for Monday. I would also just show up at the office if you can not get phone contact. The nutritionist is not the person you need to see. -
Night reflux is a sign of being too tight in many cases. Have you tried going to get .1 or .2 taken out to see if it solves the problem? or Maybe you have a hiatial hernia? .....just tossing a couple thoughts out there....
