2011 - banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I need an email address to send it to. Sending through LBT doesn't let me attach. -
Doc sais no fill if loosing weight...
Humming Bird replied to KOKIE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure about what you mean........ My band keeps me from eating too much. The pouch only holds a very small portion of food. I simply can not over eat. -

12 MONTH DIET & EXERCISE PROGRAM REQUIRED!!!!!!???
Humming Bird replied to Edivel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow, 12 months? that's crazy. I was self pay, so didn't have to do any of that. It was only 3 weeks from my first consult to my surgery. I'm guessing it is the insurance that requires you to do this? -

I agree with Elfie. In most cases the "tool" can not work properly without fills. After the swelling goes down the stoma is too large and the band is a useless piece of plastic around the stomach. After going to all the trouble of having weightloss surgery you should not have to diet like crazy. If it were me, I would demand a fill and continue to do so until I felt restriction. It really does not have to be so difficult. -
I am so sorry to hear you are having trouble like this. The pain in your entire left side is worrisome. And the bloated feeling doesn't sound normal. None of this sounds normal after a simple fill. I'm not sure the ER will be very helpful unless they have a lapband person on call. I hope you do ok over the weekend until you get in to see your surgeon. Do you have a fever? There are quite a few people who have switched over to the sleeve who still check in here at LBT.

yes, there are leaves on 4 of the fabrics in that one. The pattern was easier than I thought it would be. It is one that is made out of long strips sewn together, then you cut the strips with a rotary cutter. Let me know if you want the pattern and I'll email it to you. The pattern uses 9 fabrics and I narrowed it down to 7. -
If the band doesn't control head hunger, why then do diet pills work?
Humming Bird replied to Rainydayz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, after being banded for a period of time, the band does take away my head hunger. Most of the time food just doesn't appeal to me anymore. The bad things, like fried food, I used to eat all the time before being banded just don't even sound good now. -

My 2nd quilt.... all hand quilted. (machine pieced) Guess I should have tacked the bottom to the wall .... it really did turn out more square than the pic makes it look -
Crazy appointment with my PCP yesterday..
Humming Bird replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I've heard, most lapband surgeons expect their patients to be at goal in 2 years, not 8 months. It sounds like your PCP doesn't know enough about it to make comments like that. I would just let it roll off you and keep plugging away with what you know. -
Don't let yourself give up so soon. A couple of fills and you will be on the road to skinnyville

Speaking of quilting ......... I finished my 2nd quilt a few weeks ago. I just have not taken a pic yet. I'll have to post one. It turned out very nice. I gave the first one to my son, so this one is for me -
Which food are forever restricted?
Humming Bird replied to momnear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are all very different when it comes to types of foods we can and can't tolerate. My list of foods I can no longer eat is pretty long, but I can eat popcorn and nuts sometimes. I don't eat them often because I'm eating other things, but I can eat them. When we go to the movies I can eat a few handfuls of my husband's popcorn. If I find myself hungry between meals I can eat a few almonds to stop the stomach growling. As you try different foods just start out with a couple tiny bites and make sure you chew well. Wait a little bit to see how you react to that food before you eat more. As you get fills and approach your sweet spot, your list of foods that you can't tolerate might get longer. -

Melody, I hope you are feeling better the morning after. Get your rest . I hope you have a speedy recovery from this one. At least it's spring! I hate Vicodin. They gave it to me after band surgery and I didn't even think to ask for something else. I took it that first night and then stopped. The stuff just makes me so sick and triggers migraines for me. Maybe I should just list it on my allergy list so I never end up with an Rx for it again. -

Well said Cheri. My life and parenting experience teaches me those same thoughts. -
Anyone have regrets early post surgery?
Humming Bird replied to momnear40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lizzy got it right. Many of us have that feeling. Oh my gosh, what have I done! It gets so much better. Just think, one year from now you will be posting that it has changed your life for the better! -
How much weight have you lost? I am tired of this question!
Humming Bird replied to Keia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't lost anything since the last time I weighed -

I drink quite a bit of iced tea. Over the years I have become picky about the brand. My fav is lipton tea bags. I take a 2qt. pitcher and fill it about 2/3 full of hot water, let 4 teabags steep in it for a couple hours and then add 5 packets of sweet-n-low and fill the rest with ice. I make a pitcher daily.

I guess in some cases you could turn it around and say, "how much do you weigh?" That might make the little light bulb come on. Maybe some people would realize that it is making you feel like they are asking a rude question. -

I agree with you 150%. It could lead to all sorts of other problems.
