    Wisdom Teeth Removal....

I work in the dental field (12 years). You will be eating "normal" by the 2nd or 3rd day. mushy and/or liquid the first day or so. Just do not use a straw to avoid dry socket. It may be enough to break your plateau, but you don't have to starve after you get your wisdom teeth out.

    Hair loss

Does the biotin come in liquid or chewable forms? I just had my 2nd fill yesterday and am very tight. I do not think it would be a good idea for me to take a pill. I am almost 3 months post-op. I am not sure if I am shedding more hair than I normally do or not. Today my hair does not feel thinner, but it just seems like I am finding more shed hairs on clothing and such. I already avoid social situations because of my weight. Hair loss would make it worse. I feel like my hair is one of my best features and I can't afford hair loss because my hair is already very fine. I want to treat it ASAP and will try anything and everything. I am very afraid to swallow a pill at this point. I am drinking plenty of protein shakes, but fear that I am shedding more hair than normal.

    Help anyone

the gas/air/co2 they use during the surgery will all be gone in a day or so. The pain is from pressure on a nerve. I will try to give you a link to a thread that has a very good explaination. I am almost 3 months post-op and the left shoulder pain is just now getting better. I used pain patches from wal-mart and they helped a lot. here is the link http://http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f1...r-found-54827/

    New and Need Advice

I used Health One for my loan. It is 0% interest for 6 months and then is a fixed rate of 10% after that. I am trying to pay off as much as I can in the first 6 months, then I may transfer the balance over to a low interest major credit card I have. The interest on that is 5.2%. What will be your total cost for the surgery? I used Dr. Kirshenbaum in the Denver area. He only charges $9950 for everything. Many people travel there because they are self pay. Do you have a major credit card that you could charge $10,000 on?

    Hey! New Dude

Hello to u there in the CA Mountians from the Co Mountains ! I live at 8,500 ft. You will also feel very tired and weak for quite some time after the surgery, but it does get better. You will be happy you chose to get banded. it sometimes takes awhile to figure out the weight loss tickers. You can just click on someone else's ticker to get there. Make your own ticker. Then you copy/paste the code in your signature area here. You paste it in the large signature area that looks like you could type in a message there.

    I'd like some input.

Hi lapbandmom and daughter, I was pregnant at age 16 ( my baby is now 27 yrs old, and my grandbaby is 7 ), so you will not get any lecturing from me on that point. As far as the band, you did not waste your money. The pregnancy just puts a little break in the weight loss. After she has the baby, and after breast feeding if she is going to, just start over with the fill process and finding the sweet spot. I'm not a freak about breast feeding, but if I did it at such a young age, anyone can and should. Breast fed babies are healthier and happier. That may make the weight loss with the band process slow down even more. Your daughter has so much life ahead of her and the band is considered a permanent implant. I have seen many people post that they had "band babies." I am sure they could give you much more advise. As far as your daughter putting up with crap form guys because she is "the fat girl" ...... becoming a strong woman may take a little time for all of us, thin or fat, but she does need to make a commitment to herself that she will not be treated badly. This will be for the baby as well. It is not good for a child of any age to see their mommy being treated badly and tolerating it. I will say it again .... You did not waste your money on the band. Please work with positive minds about all of it. 3 years from now you will be in love with that child and can also feel the success of the band.

    What motivates you?

I thought it would be good to see what others use as motivation. Of course the scale is a big motivation, but I like using other things as well. My goal weight is just too far away for me to even imagine it as a reality some day. Examples of things I use as motivation:  I keep a piece of clothing near the front of the closet that I would like to fit in next. One that is just a little too tight to wear in public. I try it on once a week and when it fits, wear it ! I stopped wearing my wedding rings a couple years ago because of my weight gain. I try them on once a week. They are still a little too tight for comfort, but when they fit, I will wear them again ! I love my rings and will be so happy to have them on again ! I am currently in "Banster Hell" , but am trying to take off 2 more pounds before my next fill appointment ( when I'm sure they will have me step on the scale) on the 25th. Please share things you use as motivation.

    female question

I agree with Maranda. You need to call your Dr. Why would they cath you? My lapband / hiatal hernia surgery must have been much easier I guess ... no need for a cath. I have had a few other surgeries over the years where a cath was required and there was never any bruising or discomfort of any kind. I do not think it is very normal. Call the dr. so they know what is going on with you and, if only for the reason to let the Hospital know who ever is inserting the cath is doing it wrong !

    What motivates you?

Thank You so much to all that replied to this thread. I sometimes have trouble with my own motivation and it helps so much to hear other people's. You all have had great ones and some I will adopt for my own ! I am still in banster hell and sitting on this plateau, but will get my 2nd fill on Fri. the 25th. Thinking of these motivations helps.

    Vitamin Suggestions

I take the Centrum chewable. At First they tasted pretty bad to me, but now that I am on my second bottle I'm used to them and they aren't bad at all.

    Tomorrow I get banded!

Good luck to you tomorrow. The surgery will go much better than you think. It is the fear of the unknown that gets us all worked up. Let us know how it goes. I am excited and happy for you!!!
  15. It has been just a little over 9 weeks since my MLS. I have lost a total of 30 lbs. (8 of those was pre-op) I can relate to how you feel. After doing something as extrem as WLS and paying out so much $$ self-pay, I want it all off right now! I am just trying to accept the fact that this is more weight than I have lost in a very long time and it will keep coming off and stay off this time! Keep your chin up. It will happen for you and 1 year from now you will be one of the people who posts that you have lost 100 lbs!

    What motivates you?

Thanks for the replys. Keswick Lady, Tossing the Diabetes meds is a great one. I hope you will be able to do that soon. I was able to stop taking my meds for acid reflux, but that was from the hiatal hernia repair that was done during the lap band surgery. The measuring tape sounds good too. I did not take any before measurements or before pictures and now I kind of wish I had. My surgeon's office did not take any either. He has some very basic requirements, like BMI of 40. I did not take the photos because I just can't stand seeing myself looking so bad. I might be able to find some from a family gathering that would be close to my largest, but I avoid being in the shot. Jeepman, Being around for your little girl is a great one! She needs you in her life for a very long time. Seeing her grow up and all the other things that life will bring to her will be a great joy for you as well. Being around for my son, my grandson, and my husband are good motivation for me to think of as well. I love them all so dearly and they all depend on me. Thanks for bringing that to the front of my list of motivators.
  17. this should take u to that thread http://http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/best-explanation-left-shoulder-pain-ive-ever-found-54827/
  18. I was banded 07/09/09 and still have shoulder pain. It is getting better, but very slow. I usually get the pain if I eat too fast, too much, or food that is too solid. If the pain lingers into the evening I use half of a menthol pain patch (equate/ walmart brand). It works very good. There is another thread here somewhere titled something like best explination for shoulder pain .... very good info there.

    Hospital Stay?

I was self pay. My surgery was at 1:00pm and I was out of there before 5:00pm. I only took the liquid vicodin through that first night. I was lucky to have no complications that would keep me in the hospital. The only complications I did have were a severe headache (for 4 days) and dry mouth for a week brought on by the anesthesia and vicodin. I am so glad it was true "outpatient" and I do not feel that I should have stayed. I hope all goes as well for you.

    Wedding ring: new or resized?

Whatever you decide to do, wait til goal weight. For myself, I will always want my original wedding ring. I really love the design. Over the years (married over 18 / together 23 yrs), I have had my ring sized up as my weight went up. A couple years ago I refused to make it any bigger. I would just make myself smaller! yea right, that did not work. Now that I have been banded, I try on my ring weekly. It is still a little tight for comfort. When it gets loose, I will get a ring guard and size it down at goal! If you don't like the design of your ring, get a new one at goal as a big treat for your success!

    My "last supper"

Good Luck to you with the surgery! You will be happy you did it. Very cold liquids help after surgery. I also found that using ice pack on tummy longer than they told me was nice too. Be sure to lets us know how it went.

    July7th Bandsters....

I was banded 7/9/09 and have lost 30 lbs. Of course I have the feeling that I want it all off now! but there is no way I would have lost this much in this short time without the band. And this time it will stay off !!! woo hoo!
  23. I thought my shoulder pain was lasting longer than most banders because I have fibromyalgia. After reading other's comments, I now know I am not alone. GOOD NEWS!!!! I have found something that gives me much relief and thought I would post it in case it may help others. I use equate (walmart's store brand) extra strength menthol pain patch. I cut the patch in half, but if the pain is really bad, you could use the whole patch. I put the patch on my shoulder in the evening and leave it on all night. It really works great and no pills to worry about. hope this helps :blushing:
