    Pureed Food Stage

Where I am going to have my surgery, they do not have a mushie stage. You go from liquid to regular food just chew it really really well.
  2. I hope I will be able to have yogurt. That is one of my daily foods. I havn't had surgery yet.
  3. Congratulations!! That is a great achievement.
  4. In the past I have gone to this Dr. for diet. Now he has a line of products www.nutritionalweightsolutions.com. He had some of these before I stopped going. I like the B5-B6 spray and I do think it has a little appetite suppressant in it. I have also tried the Attain, Creamy Vanilla. I not an expert on protein shakes but it tastes the same to me as many others. But, he does have many products that you can buy on line. B-12 spray etc. I am not associated with him in any way other than I was a past patient. If anyone looks at this could you tell me if the Attain is comparable to protein and sugars in other products. He compares it to slim fast optima on the can and that his is much lower in sugar and higher in protein. I know some of you are professional protein shake people so maybe you could tell me if the ingredients are any good. The only thing I would recommend is the b5-b6 spray because that is about all I have used. I hope this gives you all some more options.
  5. During the first meeting with the doctor he said something like don't waste the first 6-8 months or so with the band because that is when you will loose the most weight. I didn't question this because I related it to weight watchers where I lost 62 pounds and a lot of it was during the first six months and the rest took me two years. Now that I am thinking of what he was saying I don't know that is what he meant or I just heard it wrong. The question here is did you all lose a great deal of weight the first 6-8 months and then it really slowed down? I sure wish I would have questioned him and not just assumed what he meant was what happened to me at weight watchers. Would you all tell of your experiences with loosing weight the first 6-8 months compared with after that time. Or if you have any ideas what he really meant. Thanks I write down as much as I can when I talk to the doctor but next time I think I am going to take a tape recorder.

    How many

How can you find out how many lap band procedures your doctor has done? I did ask but he was really vague.
  7. The place I am thinking of going says if you get everything in right away surgery should be within 8 weeks unless there are insurance issues.

    A set back ! ! ! !

I am so sorry. When they postpone our surgery don't they get that the waiting is the hardest part. All I can say is what someone said earlier "drink the cool aid" or they may come up with some other reason to postpone.

    Taking Medications

That could very well be true.
  12. I know I did not describe this very well. I guess what I really want to know is did you all lose the greatest part of your weight in the firs 6-8 months. Thanks

    Taking Medications

I asked this question of my PCP. For example what if I need an antibiotic for something. He said a lot of things come in liquid and if not there are usually substitutions that do. If he can't find any of those you can go to a compound pharmacy and they will fix me something. So I am counting on him telling me the truth. I do take Prilosec and he told me to take that after the surgery as well. Does anyone take Prilosec? I just wondered if it can be crushed. I thought it was time released. Or does that gel shell just disolve.
  14. I agree. The younger you are the better your chance that your skin with tighten back up. I can see a tummy tuck in my future.

    DaVinci & Dolce Sugar-Free Syrups?

I have used the DeVinci sugar free for a number of years. They are great. I have finished a bottle of boysenberry (sp) and almost a bottle of raspberry. I am glad to hear they have them at Sam's club now.

    How many

There should be some place we could check this out.
  17. That is a really good price. My insurance will pay but my copay is $4,000 dollars. plus $250.00 for the doctors assistant and 90 days of fills. And you can't have a fill for 6 weeks (45 of the 90 days) After that the fills are on me. Mexico sounds better and better.
  18. I was just wondering if everyone gets Lidocaine or some kind of numbing agent for their fills? My place does not do it?
  19. Who has had their band for the longest period of time on these forums? Please chime in for those with their original band. And also your results with how your are doing and maintaining. I am sure the information is out here somewhere; but, I have just been not been able to find it.

    Question

I have been researching this for a while. There are differences and people swear by each one. I am not one to leave anything up to anyone even the surgeon; but this is one of those things that I think when they see inside they make the decision. At the seminar I went to they had both of them there. They looked very similar. I didn't see the triangle flap thing I saw on some pictures of the Realize band. I did ask though if I had the Lapband could I have the low profile port of the Realize Band.(Don't know if I really can but they said so) They said yes. There are different stats that say you lose faster with one over the other but in the end they seem to equal out. If anyone else knows a reason to pick one over the other I would like to know also. Not just because you might have it and it works but why? I like facts if possible. Thanks
  21. I sure hope someone answers. I go for mine tomorrow.

    Longest bandster

That is interesting so we know of 2003. I have heard there is a person in Australia that has been banded for 14 years. I am not young and just wondered what would happen when I am 80 and have a lap band. Do nursing homes care for lap band patients? HaHa
  23. You guys that aren't numbed are really brave. Where I wanted to go they have the PA do the fills. No being numbed is a real problem for me and they will not do it. It is not big deal for them so why should they care?
  24. Thanks for all the different answers. I just need to ask, "how does it not hurt". I have had lidocaine and it is a little needle. That big one has got to hurt. I guess it is just my phobia. You would think they would offer it even if there was an extra charge.

Does full feel different after banding?

I have not had my surgery yet so I am not an expert by any means. I did find Dr. Terry Simpson in Arizona has little pod casts on his web site. (That isn't even where I am going) that describes a lot of the things people have been mentioning. You do not even need to register to hear them but they have been useful to me already. See if one of those describes what you are feeling. I think the one that is "I never or don't feel full" something like that.. It was very interesting to me since I don't have the band yet and am trying to see what to expect. But he was saying something about you eat this much (?) and then stop you never eat until you are full because it might stretch the band. He said if you eat the prescribed amounts it will keep you not hungry but not having that full feeling. I am not describing this well but it is worth a look on his web site. Terry Simpson, Glendale Arizona. Check it out it might answer some questions you have. It did me. Especially when I don't even quite know what I am asking.
