Oh and see if you can do the LAPBAND and not the GB they might go for it then. allot of tricare people seem to get the lapband over the GB. but i really dont know for sure because im not geting the GB and really have never looked it up!

yeah same here! i think that it has to do with some insurers. Ive read in a few places that you have to be at lest 25 years of age ( i guess that shows you have been overweight for at least 5 years of your adult life) who knows these days. i really think it all starts out with your PCM! i think the way they put in the fourm to tricare plays a big roll in everything. i would try to go back to your PCM and have them resend it!!!! then call tricare and ask what the deal is, if they dont know i would ask to talk to someone who does. ive called tricare about 5 times in the last 2 weeks and they seem to be very nice and understanding!? i hope that you get through. best of luck!

got one more q for ya! did you do all your tests like blood work and all that their at their office. or do you have to go all over the city to get stuff done. thanks so much

Sooo i got my appt today with Dr. Monte Schwartz! now i just have to wait to see him and see if he'll let me have the surgery!!! cant wait karen:thumbup:

Oh i hope he lets me get the surgery!!!??? i called their office and they said if i could to bring in my med. records from the last 5 years. i went in today and filled out fourms to get them. hoping to get them tomorrow! im just waiting on a phone call for an appt. but i dont think i can do blood work or see the psych tell i go in and see the doc first!? what did you have to do before your surgery??? thanks so so mcuh! karen

yeah and bla tricare sent me to the wrong place! so had to call back and found out the i could go to Dr. Monte Schwartz im hoping he is nice and let me get the surgery!!!

WOOHOO. i was wondering if you could tell me a little about him and what you had to go through. i know some of the things i have to do but not all. do you HAVE to bring prof of being on diets like WW and south beach?? or can you just let them know? is he nice? thanks so much for all your help! im just waiting for them to call me with an appt to meet him. thanks again. ( i do know that tricare does not requier you to do a diet program before the surgery) karen

hey everyone! I'm trying to do research on the surgeon my PCM (or tricare) i know he is a general surgeon. ( do general surgeons do the lap band?) the surgeons name is NASR, ELIAS. I can find him on the Internet but i cant find anything on the lap band for him. Oh and by the way I'm in Sierra Vista AZ thanks so much for any help Karen

same here. i hope things go well for you. I'm glad to have found someone that is in the same (kinda) boat that I'm in. sounds like we will be really close to having our surgeries ( if mine goes through) together!! cant wait for Monday. hope you get some answers Monday too! Karen

hey everyone I'm new here! i just wanted to know if anyone is on tricare prime.( i have triwest) i went into see my PCM today and he said that i would be a good candidate to have the lap band done. so he put the referral in right there and then. the Q that i have is how long does it take for tricare to approve you to see the surgeon and then from there how long does it take to have the surgery? thanks so much for all your help:confused:

OMG! thanks for all the info there. I have tricare prime and I'm also in the triwest area too (southern Arizona) i went in to see my PCM on the 16th of this month and he said that I'm good for it!!! WOOHOOO!!! so Ive been checking my tricare stuff on line and sure thing a few hours ago found out that i got approved to see a surgeon! So I'm going to call first thing Monday morning to set up an appt! ( seeing how its Saturday and they are only open from Monday to Friday) I'm hoping the surgeon agrees with my PCM and says that I'm in the green to have the surgery!?? i hope he does and have my fingers crossed. So all the info you just gave out really helped me. So I'm going to ask allot of Q's and ask right over the phone Monday morning if there is anything i need to do or help to get things going faster!!!!! right now I'm 260 pounds 5'5 and about 43 MBI i don't have anything bad going on with my body just fat so i know that i qualify with the tricare standards. anyway thanks again so much and i wish the best for you Karen

So my Q was.... is anyone from around here and has ben banded? i want to know if this surgeon does the lapband or if im going to him for a visit then going to see another doc??? have no idea. tryed to look him up but cant find anything on him doing the lapband just that he is in general surgery. thanks for any info that anyone might have for me Karen:confused:
