Well, I'm 6 days post op and just ate my first real food, a yummy and delicious scrambled egg. Wow, that's the best scrambled egg I've ever had. I just had to have something with texture so that was the next best thing. What did everyone here eat a week post op? Just trying to get some ideas. I feel great so far. No problems whatsoever. I'm drinking 2-3 Muscle Milks I bought from costco. Each has 20 grams of Protein. Plus I've had some different Soups. What else can I try???
Thanks!

So Holly called me this morning and moved my surgery up to 1 pm on Wednesday instead of 5 pm. YAY! The sooner the better. Are you staying the night in the hospital? I'm planning on it.
I'm soooooo nervous!!!!!
-
Add me to the Sept. list! Just found out I was approved yesterday and am set for surgery on the 15th. I'm so excited.
-
Yes, I'm really excited but also nervous at the same time. I have been talking to another girl who is having the surgery with the same doctor on the same day, one hour before me. It's so very surreal!
Less than a week to go. Am I supposed to be preparing myself somehow?
-
HAHAHA! Mine is scheduled at 5pm, right after you! How funny is that?!?!?! OMG, I'm so excited I can hardly stand myself.
OK, so my pre-op appt is on the 15th and I also have the nutritional orientation from 1-3 that same day. When is yours?

Nevermind! Just found out Tricare approved me after all. They called my drs. office and said that they denied me because they didn't receive all the clinicals in my paperwork. The receptionist said that she then faxed them about 6 times because it wasn't going through. So today I checked the Tricare website and now I'm approved!!! I'm soo excited!
-
Well, just found out I'm approved!!!! I guess my insurance hadn't received all my paperwork so they denied it yesterday only to get the paperwork and approve it today!!! Holly is scheduling my surgery now!
YIPPEEE!!!
-
Oh man, I can't wait to get it done. I wanna feel like that! UGH!
-
I've heard that too. Thanks for the encouraging words.
So, it looks like you'll have the surgery first. Then you can tell me ALL about it. I bet you are getting so excited...
-
That's not long at all.
I have Tricare....
-
She said the same thing. She said she'd fight for me. Man I hope so. I'm so desperate right now.
So you were denied at first? How long did it take for them to approve?
-
Just found out this morning that I was denied. My denial letter was faxed to BB and it said that I wasn't heavy enough. But the next line said I was 108 pounds overweight which meets my insurance criteria so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm waiting for Holly to contact them to get the ball rolling.
-
After talking to my drs. office since Tricare faxed them the denial letter, I learned that I'm just not heavy enough. Sooo, what the heck. It said on there that I'm 108 pounds overweight...on the Tricare form! Plus I have high cholesterol and a "fatty liver." I'm just upset at the whole thing. If I'm "underweight" it would be easier for me to gain what I need to have the surgery than it would be to lose over 100 pounds on my own. Frankly, that would just never happen.
Just waiting for the denial letter to get to me so I can figure out what I need to do next.
-
Just found out this morning that I was denied. CRAP! Now I have to wait for the denial letter before I can do anything. This just sucks.
-
Just found out I was denied. So I called Tricare and in the notes it said that there were no clinicals. What the heck does that mean exactly? Now I have to wait for the letter and then appeal. She mentioned writing a letter. Is there a good letter out there that I can use?

Looks like we might get banded on the same day! I have not been approved yet but it's pending review with my insurance as we speak. I had an appt. today and Dr. Umbach said that if my insurance approves soon, I could schedule for the 16th since my husband is getting deployed on the 20th. I will let you know when I hear something.
Oh, and congrats!!!!
-
Morgan- It seems to me like you have a good chance at getting approved, and if you don't, I'm sure you could appeal it and get approved.Dr's can be so frustrating can't they? My surgeons office took forever to collect all the information and send it out. The good news is, once it's submitted Tricare doesn't take long to respond!
So how long did it take? My husband is leaving for deployment on the 20th and my surgeon only does surgeries on Wednesdays. That means if Tricare approves it, I could get it done next Wed. I am so nervous. I'm really hoping this gets approved the first time and quick.
-
Well, my stuff was finally submitted to Tricare on the 4th. My Upper GI was already approved by last night. Today it shows "Pending Review." OMG, I'm so nervous. My dr. said I could have my surgery as early as next Wednesday. Just have to sit and wait.
-
My stuff was submitted to Tricare last Friday. It's currently in Pending Review. I'm so nervous!!!!
-
I am 5"2' and about 226.My bariatric drs. office said they submitted my claim to my insurance last Friday. Still haven't heard anything and nothing has popped up on my insurance website about the claim yet. I guess I just sit and wait.
Or just call Tricare to see if anything is pending. Nope, nothing has even been submitted yet from my surgeon. UGH!!! Now I'm waiting for my drs. office to call me back. I need to find out what's going on here.
-
how much do you weight and how tall are you? And are you basing this off the Metlife chart? From what I've heard, Tricare is pretty strict about the 100 pound weight requirement. I know some people on here who gained a few pounds or wore ankle weights when they weight in to secure that requirement, you might look into that.I am 5"2' and about 226.

I haven't heard anything yet from my insurance either. I was told my claim was submitted by Blossom Bariatrics last Friday. Still, nothing is popping up on my insurance website about the claim. I've heard my insurance is pretty fast at authorizing this but I'm not quite sure it was really submitted last Friday. We'll see.
Any news on yours yet?

Hey, I'm also one of Umbach's patients and I've been looking all over for someone who is also a patient of his. I just went in there today and spoke to Holly. I have everything done and all I'm waiting for is for her to submit my package to my insurance. She said tomorrow... We'll see.
Have you talked to anyone else who has been banded by Umbach? I can't find hardly anyone out there.
-
I'm currently one of Dr. Umbach's patients here in Henderson, NV. I have not been banded but hope to be next month. Just wondering if there are any other Umbach's patients out there. How was your experience with this doctor?
