I am very familiar with the Wylie area and have never heard of Dr. Hall. Also, if she is looking at doing it there in Wylie, I know they had a death related to this procedure. That hospital has opened/closed many times over the years, each time under a different bariatric treatment name.

Got banded 4 days ago by Dr. Bryce and have been working with his office for a few months. Let me know any specific questions.

I got banded four days ago with Dr. Bryce. He was really encouraging to me. Very positive and I feel great. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well, I am now four days post-band. I feel good and my incisions feel like bruises and I am just tender, not in pain. I feel really lucky because I have been sleeping on my left side since day one and I have not had any nausea at all.
The only problem I seem to be having in lower back pain. I am kind of assuming that is from the blow-up gas and surgery but was wondering if anyone else had lower back pain?

Got a "no" on caffeine on my pre-op diet! Good luck.

Being banded on July 31. Can hardly wait!

Aetna changed their requirements in March 2006 and now do not require those listed in a previous post. I was approved on the first try with 37 BMI and sleep apnea.

I am sorry to know you had a problem. I just wanted to say that my experience with Dr. Bryce's office has been totally different.
When I first attended a seminar in January, I was given paperwork saying his non-refundable program fee was $250. By the time of my first appointment with Dr. Bryce, the program fee had increased to $400 but they honored the commitment of $250 without question.
I haven't had any problems with them at all and Julie, their insurance clerk, has been great to work with and kept me well informed of all the steps in the process.

I wanted the band over bypass because (1) it's removable if there is a problem and things go back to normal and (2) the malabsorption of viatmin problem with bypass (3) I didn't want my stomach cut in half. I think you will here a lot of these reasons as you get responses.

No shoe advice but notice some of you are local to my area. Any comments about surgery in Richardson?

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I am having pre-band jitters. I read through a bunch of posts and find people with lots of problems and I am praying for the best. My doctor is great and even a patient himself so I am encouraged. Any big no-no's I need to be aware of?

Hi MollyMolly,
Thanks for the information about the support. I am concerned about erosions and slippage. Any advice?

I am new to the site and have banding scheduled for 7/31.
I have been reading lots on the site and a lot say they have gained back. I am now very worried about this. Is this a common occurance or is it mostly people who don't get Protein and follow the program?
I guess I just want some great reassurance that this will be successful as I believe it will be.

Thanks KariK, perhaps is it the stress of overcompensating for my stomach muscles. I have noticed that at times I have been very tense while sitting so I have been making an effort to relax my lower back. It is better than the first few days so maybe as I am healing it will continue to get better.
