  1. I was very scared about dying myself! That was probably my only concern lol Mind you I had 2 operations, I had the lap band and then my revision to the gastric sleeve so I had double the "panic/scare". But at the end of the day, I looked around and saw that everybody else came out alive and did very well. And I also knew the risks were very low for someone like me. I prayed and I believed that I would be alright. Sometimes you have to let go and believe with all your heart that you will be alright, and not only that, you will be very successful with your tool. Because alot of people do forget to realize that this is just a "tool". So pray not only to have a sucessful surgury day, but also to lose weight and keep it off! Everything else (your fears) will only be major distractions and are geared to throw u off track, stay focused :)

  2. I too went through the same thing! We see results but not the results that we desperatly want to see. We want to see us near our goal, no back fat no stomach rolls, nothing! lol...I use to complain meanwhile people are like "wowww look at you!" and im thinkin, yeahh look at me! :-( lol...Im happier now bc im focusin on strength training and I feel the muscle and less fat, and I know for sure I've changed drastically..Once u are near ur goal u will see the difference :D

  3. It can be difficult to maintain especially if your not consistant and continue to follow this lifestyle change. I remember I was around 185 before my cruise next thing u kno 1 week later im back in the 90's! no way!!!! LOLThats too close to 200...I want to go as low as possible without looking sick. I do believe 160 will look good on me, so I can have a gap to play with (between 160-170 for weight gain)

You always want to leave enough room to play around for weight gain bc nobody truly stays the SAME weight forever...If you want to stay away from the 200's, I would say 160 would be extremly safe. For a person whose 5'8, 160 is a good weight

  4. Thank you! Yup everyones different. My main problem was that I use to eat primarily carbs so this is def a huge change for me. Im haitian our main dish is rice. I never liked eating "healthy foods". So when people tell me its ok to eat my old fav foods "once in a while" my brain tends to back track to the old me, and then I have a difficult time gettin back on track. Its like you eat this pizza today, then tomorrow french fries will be a "once in a while" meal for today...This is why I was big in the first place, bc I never knew how to just say NO to unhealthy foods

But Im getting better! Im sure we all are :)

  5. I'm 25 too! The only fear I had was death. But I prayed and just went for it. I actually had to do that TWICE (Lap band and gastric sleeve since I failed with the band) ItSurgury is a scary thought but if you find a skilled surgeon, it can help ease ur mind. The main thing to focus on is what can happen if you dont lose the weight? I thought about how I could have died from elevated blood pressure. Could have waited just to pack on an addional 50 pounds just to end up having a stoke. I said no thank you to the obese life, I will take my chances with the sleeve. If anything happens, I know I died trying cuz I sure did try EVERYTHING else before this (As Im sure we all have) At the end of the day, you know why u were interested in this surgury. Dont let everyone elses fears become yours. You need to do what you need to do to better your life. They will all understand in the end

By the way, your finance might feel threatend that you will want to leave him once u lose weight (partners do become a bit insecure) & for people who say "you could have done it naturally" I say "No thank you, I'll leave that for people like you to deal with, good luck with all that" lol cause seriously, if its just so easy to lose weight, why are they still big????

  6. Total BS! My doc said to have your cheat days twice a month and thats it....Getting real tired of people telling me "well its ok to have this once in a while". Then you start thinking to yourself "hmm, you know thats right, I can have it once in a while". Next thing you kno, every thing ur eating becomes a "once in a while type food" lmao.

This whole summer I messed up badly, BBQ's everywhere, hangouts, drinking etc. I was trying to focus on clean eating but everyones like chill out u deserve to have sum type of fun. So thats what I did, chilled out. My mistake bc ofcourse, I had to pay the price of weight gain! (Like 5-10 pounds) Which was a set back for me bc I was only 20 pounds away from my goal and just ended up prolonging it as we all know the last 20 pounds r the HARDEST to lose.

A small stomache is a TOOL! You cannot exspect to be eating junk in small portions and believe that you will have your dream body in no time. I'm so glad I was able to get my ass back in check and get back to work! I now meet with my strength training coach 3x a week and then go to lucille roberts to take a few classes when I can. I focus on Protein Protein protein and very little carbs. Two weeks so far and Im feeling FAB! Yesterday at work we had a pizza party. Everyone had pizza and I watched them while I drank my Premier Protein shake! :) Someone told me "You can have a slice, one slice wont kill you" I said "It wont kill me and it wont HELP me either. Today isnt cheat day, It can wait"

I'm just feeling unstopabble and Im not tryna hear no one's peer pressure. Just thought I'd warn some of you. Dont ever get too comfortable and dont listen to others. Always do YOUR BODY good! Have a nice day :D

  7. I do not miss...

1.Being out of breath! Have to stop everything just to breathe (fast heart beats)

    2. Frequent headaches/ elevated blood pressure

    3. Rings cant fit my finger

    4. Shoes not wide enough, cant find shoes

    5. Stuggling to shop bc big girl clothings arent stylish enough or are too old for me (I'm 25 my main stores were Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart etc)

    6. Clothing is wayyyyyyy to expensive (a big girls PLAIN white shirt= $25) Meanwhile next door skinny store 4 shirts for $20! lmao use to piss me off for real!!!!

NOPE, DONT MISS NONE OF THAT! :D

  8. Sometimes its ok to challenge our selves. Sounds like whats holding you back is the fear of the unknown. It will take some time to break it, but if you work on it, you will feel better. Walking is good, but strength training is better. You will burn more calories and it will help tighetn your skin. Push yourself, give it a try. Don't be embaressed. Start slow....Look on groupon for deals near you! I brought a great deal, strength training 3 times a week for one month=$50. Reg fee is $220 per month. I love it so much that I will be payin reg fee the next 2 months. Once again, I know its not easy, but we must believe in ourselves and always challenege in order to GROW....Good luck to you, I know you can do it

  9. I am 1 year 2 months post op. Today is my first day starting my new workout regimen. I will doing metabolic strength training with my coach 3x a week. The other 2 days I will walk half hour in the AM. Lucille Robers will be used for elliptical use only or maybe a fun zumba class! Its time to get lean with a flat belly!

  10. You are NOT a failure. I'm a slow loser and I have an A-hole for a PCP Who considers losing 47 lbs in a 6 1/2 month period a complete failure. My mindset says that I'm in this for me, not for my family, not for my PCP but for me! Get that frame of mind set for you. Start a liquid diet again if need be. My problem is not that I don't exercise but I can't exercise due to my many disabilities. I can however now walk with a shopping cart instead of riding a mobility cart to shop. That's a HUGE accomplishment for me! Just keep your eye on the prize and that's a slimmer healthier you! I've said this on many threads but I'll say it again... Be selfish! This is for you and no one else no matter how long it takes. It's not for your family or your primary care physician, this is for you! As far as exercise goes if you can only walk one block today, walk a block and a half the next day. If it takes you a long time so be it! You can do this and I wish you much success for your future. Blessings to you!

Well said....wishin u both the very best luck! :)

  11. I understand the pain, people will look at u as if ur a failure, its ok though, show them that with patience, u will get there

Insurance did cover my revision..QUICK TIP: If ur lookin to get a revision, some insurance companies make u do a 6 month supervised weight loss program. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS! I WAS LIKE THE HELL WITH THIS! LMAO I SPENT ALL THESE YEARS STUGGLING WITH THIS DAMN BAND N YALL GONNA ASK ME FOR ANOTHER 6 MONTHS? I CALLED MY LAP BAND DOC N ASKED THEM TO FAX ALL MY DOCUMENTS TO MY NEW DOCTOR AND I HAD MY NEW DOCTOR FAX ALL MY PAST LAP BAND DOCUMENTED VISITS TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY :) N THATS WAY MORE THAN 6 MONTHS ,THAT COVERED LIKE 2 YEARS...I WAS APPROVED RIGHT AWAY...JUST THOUGHT I THROW THAT TIP OUT THERE...SORRY TO WRITE IN CAPS IM JUST STRESSIN THE IMPORTANCE OF APPEALING IF THEY TRY TO THROW THAT AT U GUYS
