  1. Everything went good here! The worst part for the first day was the sore throat from the breathing tube. Day 2 was definitely the worst for me and it wasn't really that bad, I was just sore. Day 3 was a huge improvement from day 2 and day 4 has been just a slight improvement from yesterday. I'm going camping tomorrow for a couple days so I hope that day 5 is a big improvement from today. I went to the store today and had a tough time getting in and out of the car since I am still very sore. I'm sure if I got a little more brave and started moving around more I would start getting better a little faster. As a whole the surgery wasn't a big deal at all...
  2. No pre-op diet here ~ although I did get a stern warning when I went in for my pre-op appt that I had gained weight (1 pound) from when I was in the week before and that if I did gain too much weight they would cancel my surgery when I got there. I knew they wouldn't cancel so I just kept on eating whatever I could get my hands on and still ended up losing 4 pounds the week prior to surgery

    severe bruising...

I think I know what caused the bruising on the side of your leg. I had my surgery yesterday and I remember yelping in pain as they took an extremely sticky something off the side of my leg. It was about 6" long and 3-4" wide. When I cried out the anesthesiologist said, "oops, I guess I brought her out a little too early" He also asked the nurse to show me the sticky thing then said, "she probably won't remember anyway, but please show her." Well I did remember and it hurt like hell. I didn't bruise but I definitely can see how someone would. It felt like I was getting waxed but it was 20x worse pain. I'm happy I shaved my legs before or it would have hurt even more
  4. Hiya hiya ~ I was banded yesterday the 6th. I feel pretty good. Before I went in for the surgery I asked the nurse about these terrible gas pains that everyone writes about and she said that only 1 out of 10 of their patients ever have this problem. Thankfully I seem to be falling into the majority. Every once in a while I have a little tightness in my tummy from gas but that's about it. I am pretty sore today...isn't that bad but it does hurt when I get off the couch or out of bed. My throat is also sore from the breathing tube. That's about it...not a big deal at all. I haven't really been able to eat that much because I feel full very quickly -- I had a 1/4 of a pudding cup and 1/2 of a Jello cup. I'm going to try to eat some Soup later with some Protein powder so I don't start to feel icky from lack of nutrition. Congratulations everyone!
  5. I was self pay so it didn't take that long: Seminar: July 21 '09 Consult appts: July 29th '09 Surgery: August 6th '09 So just a little over 2 weeks from start to finish.
  6. Mine took about an hour, I had the single incision and I guess it takes a little longer. My surgery started at 11am, out by noon, released to go home at 12:30p and home by about 12:45p.

    Band Dates...... add your name!

12 hours and counting...Oh my!
  8. I'm tomorrow -- I'm starting to get a little anxious. I charged the surgery to my credit card and I got the bill yesterday and started having second thoughts :tt2: I better make this work so I can justify the $18k that I can't afford :tongue2:
  9. My nerves are definitely on edge -- I don't really have a lot of support through this...actually I don't have any support. I know it's the right thing to do and that I will be successful but it is really easy to second guess yourself :(

I'm very fortunate that I don't have to do a pre-op diet. I lost 33 pounds on Medifast in 12 weeks a year or so ago so I know exactly what the pre-op would be like if I had to do it. I'm in the process of saying "goodbye" to all my friends. I had Thai for lunch and leftovers for dinner...Thai definitely won't be a band friendly meal as I must have the rice to go along with it :) I'm trying to keep it under control but I have a feeling I'll continue on with my goodbyes by having McDonalds, Wendy's and Burger King too...Geez! The 6th can't come soon enough!

    Low BMI Question

Or you may want to find a way to shrink an inch or so. When you go in for your initial consult they measure how tall you are, you may not want to stand up as straight as you normally would...:cool2:
  11. Are there things I can do now that I won't be able to do after the surgery? When I eat with another person are they going to be wondering why I'm not eating very much and obsessively chewing the little food I do eat? When I met with the nurse today she said that it is important to find out where the bathroom is everytime you go to a restaurant because you may need to throw up on a moment's notice...OMG is it really like that? I certainly don't do that now? I'm concerned I haven't thought everything through. I thought I would get this done, work through the first few months of learning new eating habits while continuing on with everything in my life as it always has been. Are there other things I'm missing? Is my life going to be flipped upside down?
  12. Thanks everyone ~ you're all so awesome! I'm beginning to wonder how I slipped through the psych exam???

    Very Worried!!!

Oh Ali -- I feel the same way  I have a lot of pressure in my chest right now from all the anxiety. I also am single and am so concerned at how I will be perceived by men when I eat.
  14. I guess I'm in panic mode right now. Got my surgery date today, August 6th, and I'm not being well supported by the one person I chose to confide in. I'm not sure how I can be doing the wrong thing, and if I am the "absolute worst" (barring anything truly serious) thing is that I'm out a lot of money. I'm a lower BMI (32) but I don't see how that should make a difference...I still need to lose weight. I could really benefit from some anti-anxiety meds right now!
