  1. NancyJ(and all) thanks SO much for posting about how your liquid pre-op is going. For me, it helps me get my mind ready for when mine will start--I am reading this website like crazy lately. I learn SO much from others post. I was at the grocery today, trying to buy stuff I'll need-chewable Vitamins, Calcium supplements, Protein drinks...PLEASE keep posting early August girls and keep us filled in on how it's going. I like to give as much support as I have been given. Yall are in my thoughts.

  2. Hey other Aug folks out there-I to, am glad someone started this. My surgery date is August 31st. I met with my surgeon, Dr. Lankford last Monday. I'm from L'ville, KY. I will definitely use this thread once things get closer. I have good days and then sometimes I'm doing nothing and I think "what the &^* am I doing. I know this is going to be one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Looking forward to supporting each other through this process...

  3. Jenny, I've heard the same thing. I posted somewhere that I have a co-worker who had the band done 1/08. She initially lost 50+ lbs, but has gained it all back--she stopped following the "program". I think when I started this, a part of me thought that the band would kinda be "magic" and I wouldn't have to do much. I don't like admitting that, but it's true. NOW, I have had a real change in my attitude-the band really is only a tool. It will not do this for us-we have to do what the dietician and the MD tells us to do--I am sure that the people who are successful are the ones that follow the program-I hope that doesn't sound preachy.

  4. I totally understand part of what you are feling. I'm scheduled for surgery 8/81/09, and every once in a while I'll think-what are you doing. I think my"a-ha" moment was during the surgeons intro-she showed a film and this was probably in her lat 40s-she said that she had wished she had done the band 10 years ago-that did it for me. Like a previous person said, I have been trying and trying to do this for years, and nothing consistantly changes-I didn't want to be sitting in another seminar 5 years from now thinking-I wish I had done it 5 years ago. I am ready to change my life for the better. Good luck-

  5. I am looking at mid month , if all goes well :-) Lets keep each other up to date!

    Waynes6,

My surgery date is 8/31/09. I have tried to start an Aug "thread", if that's what it's called. I like to have an Aug group, with a cute name like I've seen on sooo many of the entries I've read. That way we can like a "home" group-a group going through the same things around the same time. I live in Louisville, KY--not too far from you. Let me know what yall think out there.

  6. Hello, I am so glad to find another August (surgery) person-my surgery date is 8/31/09. I read about support groups for the month/ear of your surgery, but was afraid I wouldn't find one! I am also new to this form of communication and don't know if anyone will recieve this, OR if I can figure out how to communicate this way.I've never blogged before, but have been reading everyone elses comments and I'm dying to jump in and learn. Please let me know if you receive this-
