  1. Just wanted to say hey to everyone and congrats on all of our August Bandsters! We are on our way!

Good luck to all of you waiting to be banded and keep up the great work on the pre-op diets.

I am 2 weeks post op, eating mushies and doing great. Still a little low on energy and having some soreness in the port area. ITCHY INCISIONS!

If anyone would like to know about my experience at Bajanor in Tijuana, Mexico just let me know.

Sorry I do not post much... but I do read often and check in on everyone's progress and I AM SO PROUD!

Everyone keep up the great work!

    :clap2:

  2. I do not get to post on these boards very often, but I do read and REALLY appreciate everyone who does post. It is so comforting and inspiring, not to mention informational! :)

I am leaving at 3:00 am (less than 2 hrs) :plane:to go to the airport. I am having my surgery in Tijuana. Just wanted to say thanks for all of the support and CONGRATS to everyone who has recently been banded! :clap2:

I will be back really soon and will share my experience with everyone!:)

    Hugs,

    Charissa :)

  3. Hey lighter! Thanks so much for all of your help and for sharing your information. My surgery was changed to August 7th, this Monday (had trouble getting flight that I needed) . I will post how everything went as soon as I can get to a computer afterwards. I fly out Monday morning at 5:45... my first time flying! I will return home on Wednesday. Hopefully I will be able to use the computer at the hotel to post.

Wish me luck and thanks for all of the good wishes!

    Have a great weekend!

    Charissa :)

  4. I just wanted to say that I loved your post. It was sincere and hearfelt and I felt inspired by it... and wrote my hubby a letter because of it. Thanks so much for emphasizing communication. Sometimes we forget how important it is.

Congrats and good luck on your journey!

  5. I found out yesterday :think that I will have to move my surgery from this Friday to the following Monday, August 7th.

Although I was disapointed... It isn't really all that bad.

Except I have to change my tickers! ha ha!

Anyway just wanted to wish everyone good luck and I cannot wait to hear everyone's stories.

I will keep you all in my prayers for a speedy recovery!

    :gluck:

NOW STICK TO THE PRE-OPS... You can do it!:clap2:

  6. Well my doctor does not require the pre op diet, but suggests it because of the benefits of reducing your liver size and condition. He said anyone with a BMI of 40 or higher should do the pre-op diet to eliminate risks. Low fat, low carbs and high Protein is what he suggests.

So... I just did my own research.

Anyway thanks for the feedback. I really really appreciate it! I am so glad to have found this board... everyone is friendly and SO helpful!

  7. After researching lots of different pre op diets this is what I am following.

Being banded August 4th - 1 week to go!

Each day starting today I am eating:

3 slim fast optima shakes or protien powder shakes

Water and decafeinated tea w/ splenda (unlimited)

1 Protein meal (plain tuna or baked skinless chicken breast)

    sugar free Jello

    sugar free popsicles

    spinach or green Beans

Any of you think with this I will be succesful in "shrinking my liver"?

    Thanks for any input!

  8. Hey everyone!

Are any of you going crazy waiting for your surgery date? I am so excited that I feel like a pregnant mom in nesting stage! ha ha!

I am cleaning, cleaning, organizing, and doing EVERYTHING I can to keep busy and pass the time.

Also... what type of pre-op diets are you on? :tea:

    August is ALMOST HERE!:clap2:

  9. I hope you have had a great weekend! I have been trying to do more research and get my house clean and everything in my life in order... so I can come home to a fresh new start. That seems to be keeping me pretty busy and seems to be helping the time pass faster!

    Keep in touch!

  10. I am scheduled for surgery on August 4th. I currently have high blood pressure but have not been on medication for a year. I know I know bad bad! But I lost my insurance and just have not gone back to the dr. I check it periodically and it is usually around 145/90 or somewhere around there.

I know that the consequences of untreated blood pressure include enlarged heart, which shows up on an EKG. My question is... is there a possibility that I will be turned away for lap band surgery once I arrive because my blood pressure is too high or I have an enlarged heart. Or will they be able to give me something to lower my blood pressure before surgery.

Any nurses on here or anyone that knows or has had this experience.

Thanks in advance for any help!
