Hey Steph, I know that it's hard looking at pictures for me, in general. I always say "do i really look like that"? It expecially upsets me when i leave the house thinking I'm looking really good and that i, for sure, found the most slimming thing i own. Then I see the pictures and look at me, the blob, and sometimes i just cry because I'm so mad at myself that i look that way. Sometimes i get in the frame of mind that I was just in a size 12 a little while ago. LOL then 14, then 16 and now a 18 and then boom a picture comes along to put me back into reality.. that yes.. I am an 18. Anyway, i just want to wish you a word of encouragement. I agree with Jen, it takes awhile to get there and it will be awhile to take it off. Just think of what that picture would have looked like if you had not lost the 31.6 pounds that you've already melted away. This will be one of those pics you can compare yourself to later, when you go and meet up again, take another.. and so on. Pretty soon you'll be lost in the crowd. Be positive and keep your chin up. The weight is coming off, not being packed on. You have done an excellent job! Keep it up! Best of luck to you.

    Pregnancy and the band

Hey BGP, It may be something for you and the doc to discuss. My OB/GYN told me that he won't have it any other way but a c section, for precautions. I also have a pain pump too, so i'm sure that plays a huge part in it as well. It's such an exciting thing to look forward too. I'm up and down on the idea of becoming preg. again. I'm sure as i lose weight, i'll become selfish, but who knows? If I am going to have baby 3 then i will want to be preg. as soon as I am cleared to do so. Best of luck to you and hubby.

I can tell you that the fills do not hurt, I have an intrathecal pump implanted, right near my port site, and this pump requires fills. It's just a little pinch. What happens is the doc goes in with the needle and pulls out the old medicine from my pump and then reinserst a needle with a new mix. With the lapband, it's pretty much the same. I think it varies if the doc pulls out fluid first or not, it may depend on each persons situation. Once again, i have not had a fill for the lapband, but the pain pump is simuliar to it. Just a pinch, really.

  10. You could just refuse to stay in the hospital, that is always an option (not recommended). You also can just ask your Dr. what their procedures are and let them know that you prefer to go home. i was in the hosp. for 3 days, i just got home today. But i had some issues that kept me there longer. Usually my Doc keeps his patients overnight for observation to make sure they can hold their fluids down and to see that they go peepee. This was my experience, i'm sure many others have had a different experience. Just like our pre-op diet and after care food plans.. Not all of our Dr's have the same plan.
  11. Jenna, I don't want to high jack this thread but i just wanted to say that Sherri's son, i'm led to believe, has a racing quad. If you just have the reg. ole atv, it should fit to your son just fine. i have two quads, both are the rancher es400 and my 12 yr. old rides a 300. She is just fine and handles it pretty good, she's still learning. There are plenty of places that have safety classes. Best of luck, have fun and be safe. SHERRI- Any updates? How is your son doing today? Hope you're hanging in there.:bananapartyhat:

:omg: hi all, i just got to my room a little over an hour or so ago. :omg: I AM NOW OFFICIALLY BANDED! i spent 4.5 hours in the OR, with some issues, but i'm okay! I love this hospital, lol. I get a flatscreen tv on a swing pole type of thing on the screen there are so many options. internet, tv, music,movies...and so on lol. i'm typing this laying flat down LoL so now about the surgery, lol. i feel sore mostly on the right side. i even did peepee pretty much right away, i know this might be TMI BUT I WANTED TO SHARE< LOL> l've had urine retention issues in th past, so we all were worried, for no reason lol. l've spent too much time thinking about it. okay, so i've been pretty much nausiated all of day. l've had several issues with bradycardia all moning and evening. I am very tired. i've snoozed several times already. the aid gave me broth and Jello. l tried both, it's ok. and the aide, well, she forgot to give me the sf jello! so it was nasty. l know these will all pass by ,lol, along with the gas that i may recieve by the morning. shortly you all take care, l've been giving a second shot at life, like most of you all have. so i hope to go above and beyond. also, i did my final pre surgery weighin i was at 223, with no pre op diet? i'll be more alert later, it took mealmost 2 hrs to write lol thanks for your well wishes

    Pregnancy and the band

I just had this convo. with my Dr. last week. He also said 12 - 18 months. Meaning, if it happened at 12 fine.. but 18 is ideal. He had also said that he has had over 10 patients become preg. and some were only 3 - 6 months out. Those patients didn't have a problem with a slipped band. One of my Dr's biggest concern is letting yourself heal and he was worried about people who may vomit quite a bit in preg. Mini... I wish you luck in whatever you chose. I was in the same situation, and i'm chosing the band first and then have another shot for a 3rd child.

[quote=FunnyDuddies]So many people changing their names LOL Yeah, I know.. I had changed my name to try to see if it fixed my chat room problem, new account set up and everything... go figure... it didn't help me out, at all.. I still don't know what the heck is going on! So I'll float back and forth between Time to love me and KMO. Depending on what name wants to behave! Jen(Jenmomto3) gave me the nick name. LOL Also Funny... I have to say that you have done so awesome so far. You really have your head in the right place and are such an inspiration for me. For you to lose as much weight as you did before the band is amazing. Keep up the great work! PS did the soup really work for you? I don't want to highjack this thread over it.. but i'm just curious. For all of those who were banded in the past few days, I hope you are doing well and are having no issues. take it easy and relax! :notagree For those of you who have been banded in the past few weeks, thanks so much for all the good, bad and ugly stories.. You are really helping me and I'm sure everyone else out with pain, anxiety, food and many other issues. Baylor Mom, welcome and congrats! I added you to the list, even though your surgery date passed. Best of luck to you...
