Hi- I am 5 weeks post-op too. I was between 700 and 900 calories a day and not losing much. I increased my calorie intake to 1000 and increased my protien and the weight has started to come off much faster- 3 pounds in one day actually!! Just remember, we didn't gain this weight over night- it is a process and have to give the band time to work and your body time to adjust. Stay positive- you can do this! Feel free to contact me anytime, as we seem to be at the same place in this journey! Good luck!

Awesome job Cheri- soulds like you and I are almost at the same place. I am a day short of 2 wks post op. If I never have a bowl of soup in my life again , I will be happy! So you are on to the mushy stage, huh? Any foods at that stage that your dr told you you cannot have? I couldn't get in to see my dr until the 3rd- so I am not supposed to start mushies until then- although I feel like I can pretty much eat anything right now- I did have mashed potatoes yesterday for dinner- seemed fine :-)

Thank you so much for sharing your story!! I was banded last Monday and have been filled with the "did I do the right thing" question. I am just so hungry and I have been thinking about all these foods I won't ever be able to eat again, according to my doctor. Are there any foods you find you can't eat? Yes- I know there are foods we shouldn't eat, but if I want a chicken finger or a piece of a steak and cheese sub for dinner, is that something i can have?? Again, thank you so much for sharing your story- it is truly wonderful to know I am not alone!
  4. I hear ya- I was banded on the on the 16th. I have really been hungry the last 3 days. I called my dr's office and they said that instead of having just clear soup, I could start having some cream (strained of course) soup. It really has been more satisfying. Good luck- you can do it!!

Tallulah- where is the recipe section here???
  6. I hear ya! I was just banded on Monday and I am so hungry- I am dreaming of eating food too! My dr said I can't start mushies for 2 more weeks, but I seriously feel that I could start now- I feel like I have no restriction at all. I am nervous that I have put myself and my family through all of this for no reason- that I don't have the will power to make it work. So, you are not alone- but I guess we have to look at it as a process- no matter what, we are better off than we were before we started the process- think of how far we have come! You can do it!

Good for you! I was banded on Monday- the pre-op diet was harder than the surgery itself. My husband doesn't get it at all- he is still wondering why I haven't been making dinner and when I am going to start again. It is so hard when we can't eat and those around us just don't seem to understand how hard it is. Best of luck to you and feel free to give a shout if you ever need support- God knows we all need support sometimes!
  8. That is awesome! Sometimes, we are so much stronger than we think. Good for you and keep up the good work!
  9. The pain started to get out of hand, so I called my dr. I went in and he removed 3.6 cc's from the band- it was so tight that it was closing off my stomach! I didn't even realize they put fluid in it when they put it in. I felt instant relief. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out!!
  10. Yes I was banded on Monday! I am having a bit more pain than I anticipated- it hurts every time I swallow and I feel like I have to burp, but it won't come up- which is extremely painful. Yes, my throat is sore too and my port site is very tender. Keep me updated- feel free to email my personal email- CassieHurtgam@yahoo.com. Best of luck to you!!

I am in the process of preparing to have the surgery and my husband has gone through a roller coaster of responses to me getting it done as well. I think they are afraid that once we lose the weight, we will no longer want to be with them... actually, my husband even mentioned this to me. They are so hard to figure out!!
