Hair Loss After Revision to Sleeve
I didn't lose any hair with the band, although I had it in for only 3 months. I began losing hair around 3 months post op and still am...but it's not terrible. Good Luck with your surgery.

When do you know it's time to focus on maintaining vs. losing
I think the best thing to do it to see a nutritionist or your doctor. Some of them have a special scales that can actually calcutate your bone density, body fat and give you a personalize weight goal that is specific to you. My personal goal is to have NON touching thighs!! Congrats on your weight loss!

WLS is "the easy way out"
When people don't know all the facts..they can make assumptions..It's called ignorance! We had a medical procedure to improve our health. Is taking medication for type 2 diabetes taking the easy way out?? Is taking meds for depression the easy way out?? Is wearing a mask for sleep apnea the easy way out?? I could go on and on.... A friend of mine had to do TWO days of Clear liquids to get ready for a colonoscopy and told me she had new respect for me. She could barely do it!!! I went over 4 weeks without solid foods!! Keep on your track to good health and surround yourself with positive and supportive people

Ashamed to say it :(.....yet being sleeved anyway
I think that along with the sleeve surgery you should look into joining a group like Overeaters Anonymous or go seek therapy for compulsive overeating. I was well on my way to being super obese and would eat 8 candybars in one day. I had a year and a half of therapy in a group setting for people with food issues. It has helped me tremendously. You have to ask WHY you eat the way you do and learn tools to re-train your brain. There are certain foods that you will not be able to have in your house but that's okay. The good thing is that you will physically be unable to eat a lot of food. Its now time to nuture yourself and love yourself. Good Luck Nina

Major Complications
I think it's wonderful how much you are there for your fiancee'. I am praying she continues to feel better and gets stronger every day. After a few months, she will be feeling great and can put this all behind her

pre-op endoscopy/EUS found something
I never like the 'watch and see" game. Get yourself a second opinion!! Good Luck

Multivitamin equals vomitting
Save your money!! I take 2 Flintstones a day. They taste good, are inexpensive and DON"T bother your tummy. I've just had full bloodwork and all my levels were fine, so I know the vitamin is doing the trick. My doctor tells all his patients to take them.

What are your makeover plans?
A tummy tuck and laser eye correction is on my menu. After my weight has stabilized and I'm over a year out...I'm going for the tuck first!!!!

NEED YOUR HELP
Buy some Beneprotein. You can add it to foods. It's flavorless and can be added to heated food. The cheapest I've seen it was at www.medco.com

Meatloaf considered mushy food?
I would say yes if it's moist and you maybe added gravy to it.

I've been lying
I have to tell you...I have been eating 900 to 1000 calories a day. I track but my doctor does not require it. I have had a couple stalls but overall I am happy with my weight loss. I do exercise. In 4 months, I am down 67 pound. Just my opinion but I think if it's too low, I won't lose weight.

7 Weeks Out & Stretched my pouch already!!
Remember that this surgery is just a TOOL!! You are losing slowing due to the choices and portions you are eating. If you follow the plan and stick no NO CARBS...you will be full longer and have more energy. Maybe you should seek out a weekly support group to help you through this. Try to stay away from breads, especially rolls from Subway. They offer you no nutrition. Good Luck..no one said this would be easy!

To Go or Not to Go Back to the ER
So sorry you are going through this Erin. You are the second person recently whose stomach has healed in a L shape. I wonder how that happens?? We are all pulling for you and hoping this all works out!! ((HUGS)) Nina
-
Stomach looked more like a dumbbell than a sleeve in barium swallow picture.
I am interested is the reason why this happened. Did the stomach just heal that way? Did your doctor use a bougie to guide the shape of the pouch??? Hope you continue to tolerate food and feel well.

Coconut
I was told by the doctor to steer clear of coconut. There is no food that bothers me at this point (4 months out), but I am not chancing it. I have had celery with no problems. But to be honest, the only time I had coconut is with a chocolate bar so there's no reason for me to have it now anyway

Lapband 1st
Yes, I had the LapBand and now have the sleeve. Sleeve is SO MUCH BETTER. You live your life like a normal person. No horrible food stuck feeling. I just get full fast and have lost almost 70% if my excess weight in 4 months. My doctor was prepared for an open procedure in the event that I had too much scar tissue but all worked out well. I had it laprascopic and did great. Recovery is much more involved than band tho. First couple days are rough but it gets better good luck

Alcohol after surgery
Too too early. The fact that you are even on soft solids even surprises me. I was on clear liquids for 10 days!!!. You will have plenty of chances to enjoy wine once your tummy is healed.

Can I Just Quit Now????
Don't move onto the next stage...you are soo not ready. Seems like you are overdoing it. Ask for help with the laundry or wear stuff until you are naked. My doctor told me this surgery is like hitting the "control, alt, delete button" on your body and he wasn't kidding. Try to keep yourself busy with reading, watching TV I got sick of the sweet taste too. What I did was I did a day of

What to bring as gifts, if not food
I like cute wine glass charms or serving type dishes. Ourdoor gardening stuff and the ever popular flowers work too.

Hey does Mederma work?
I asked my dermatologist and she said there was a study that compared Maderma to just massaging the scar. There was no difference. She said if you massage a raised scar each nite, it will help it to heal flatter. I keep forgetting and know at some point I will get a tummy tuck, so maybe some of the scarring will wind up lower on my abdomen! LOL

Sleeve reduction
My doctor used a size 40 bougie and said he removed 85% of the stomach. I have no reflux issues at all and neither do 2 other people who used the same doctor. My opinion is that the smaller the stomach the higher inclidence of reflux. I am happy with my outcome. I cannot eat more than a 1/2 cup of food and have been losing steadily.

When are we out of the danger zone?
My doctor said that after 2 weeks you have a 'zero percent' chance of having a leak. That is why he wanted me on clears for 10 days and yogurt and eggs for the next 4 (yuck). Wow...I'm glad that's over

ANYONE ELSE ADDICTED TO .....
You seriously need to kick that addicition LOL....You are going to be horribly constipated!!!! Either don't buy it or buy single sticks so you arent' tempted to eat so much. Also, you need a variety of healthy foods to balance out your diet. Good Luck

BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD HORIZON!!
I have Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ and they got rid of the 6 month wait right when I went through the process to be submitted (dec 10). Before that time my friend had a revision from a band to sleeve and after 3 denials did get approved and didn't have to do the 6 month wait. Be sure to call because requirements change and you may not be aware. I was approved very quickly. Within a few days of submitting and approved the first time. I was very surprised. Good Luck
