    Soda and band

Just a clarification. Was it just the soda or did you have a rough time with eating too????
  2. Some of these doctors go overboard!!!!! I did ZERO days of clear liquids. I had full liquids then started mushies on day 8. I never got sick, belched, or had any issues. Make yourself a shake and enjoy it. You should NOT have had to go through that....

I have to gain weight to qualify?

Make your doctor appointment a night, and drink a ton of water before the appointment. Also wear shoes. It wont add 15 pounds but will help. I did this and it worked. But since you have a co-morbity, you should qualify with a BMI of 35, unless your self pay. If you are, get a new doctor.
  4. I crushed my pills for about 2 weeks after surgery. But before you do this, check with the pharmacy to see if the pills you take can be crushed. I mixed it with applesauce or sugar free pudding.

    drink with meals?

Liquids will make the food pushed down. I am still working on this. I have to set a timer for 30 minutes after I am done eating. I do drink occasionally but I have been lucky. I really haven't been hungry. I am getting better though...
  6. Rum sauce from your bread pudding??? That HAS to be a joke. Leave it to the professionals.
  7. TMI RIGHT BACK AT YOU... I had my period the day of surgery...ugh. I had a tampon in and they told me to take it our...YIKES... They stuck a pad onto a Chuck and I shoved it between my legs. That will be the ONLY time I will be glad my thighs rubbed together....It sayed in place just fine.....LOL

    Sex three weeks out

I did the deed 4 days post-op and I was fine. Your pain may be related to something else/

    Travel 6 weeks after surgery

I went to Disney World 4 weeks after surgery and felt PERFECTLY FINE! I actually felt better because i was down some weight. I could eat regular food, just smaller portions. I didn't have my first fill until I came home (5 weeks post op). I think you have your surgery scheduled at a good time. You will be on regular foods, just focus on protein. Every dinner I ordered some type of fish and I even had some steak. You wwill be absolutely fine!!!! Relax and enjoy yourself.
  10. I am right with you. I have 4cc's in a 14cc band. I can eat about a cup of food, definitly a LOT less that before but I am not at any sweet spot. I am losing consistently because I am counting calories/ I had my first fill on Sept 3rd and am going to schedule the next one about 3 weeks late.
  11. I started soft solids 8 days after surgery, with my doctor's consent. I am sure you are fine. The guidelines are so different amonst doctors, it sort of annoys me. A few more days, and you will probably be on mushy's anyway. Don't beat yourself up. You are doing awesome. I haven't vomited, burped, had pain, or anything (knock on wood). Everyone recovers different, just keep on your track and you will be successful. KEEP IT UP, YOU HAVE A LOT TO BE PROUD OF!!!
  12. Hi Susan,

Well, I just got my first fill yesterday!!! It went well... I was a little nauseous for the rest of the day but otherwise I feel good. Since Jan 1st I have lost a total of 27lbs and I am feeling so good....

I hope you are feeling well and your recovery is going well. Drop me a line when you have a chance..

    Love,

    Nina

    Gonna die

Try mixing fruit into your shakes. Also try some cottage cheese. I started mushies 8 days after surgery. If you feel good, try soft foods in tiny bits, scrambled eggs, cottage, cheese. The doctors go overboard (in my opnion) with all these different recommendations. But talk to your nutritionist.

    5 weeks post op

I am about 5 weeks post-op and just had my first fill yesterday. I feel perfect, like I never had surgery. I feel band you've been so sick. I am happy with my weight loss but can't wait until I feel retriction...
  15. Keep getting those fills and keep focused.. Remember that it didnt' take 3 months to put on the weight. You made the right decision and will be successful! You also are gaining so much muscle from your exercise. Try taking your measurements each week and rely less on the scale! BE PROUD OF YOURSELF! Could you do boot camp before??? Look for non-scale victories!!

    Seiriously annoyed!!

Your sister's friend needs intensive therapy. She has a very serious food addition that the lapband won't cure...

    Any Regrets After Lap Band?

Hi, I was banded on 7/29 and have lost 18 pounds. I have no restriction so every pound I lost myself, which I am so proud. I started the procedure last year and chickened out. My only regret is that I went through it a year ago and didn't lose another year of my self esteem! I know once I get my first fill, I will start losing more and no one/nothing will stop me....

    I need my coffee....

I had a cup of coffe 4 days post-op. I used spenda and a little bit of fat free creamer. My doctor never put me on any type of restriction.

    which protein powder?

I didn't like either in your pole. Unjury has aspartame in it. I personally really like Designers Whey Protein Powder. You can probably do an internet search for it. It has splenda in it and is really good. Also try bellplantation.com. The powdered peanut butter is an excellent add in to the shakes. Its just dried peanut butter, no chemicals.

    Protein, Protein, Protein...

My nutritionist and my doctor basically said it was impossible to get in 70 grams of Protein a day given the volume of food we are eating (1/4 cup!)!!!! I am not sure you were given good advice...... Good Luck.

    Ready to re-start the process

Considering all you've been through, you are down 35 pounds and that's A LOT to be proud of!! Stay positive and keep up the good work!!!
  23. The stuff they gave Michael Jackson had been used for years and is very safe (I actually asked this the morning of surgery). I was given a "cocktail" of meds in an IV. That also included anti-nausea meds. I was put to sleep by an IV then a breathing tube was inserted. The phlem the other poster was talking about is from the anstesia (spelling?). It goes away after a couple days. Good Luck you will do great!!!!
  24. I was banded on 7/29 and I am on a regular diet. My first fill is schedule for 9/3. I have been counting calories and protein. I simply CANNOT eat 800 calories a day. I try to eat between 1000-1200 calories a day. Once I have some type of restriction I will reduce my calories. I write down everything I eat. I find that helps.
  25. I stayed overnight and It was the BEST thing I could have done. If your insurance covers it, do it for yourself. You are nice and propped up in a hospital bed, you have the IV to keep you hydrated and have better pain management. I didn't have any complications, but I felt better being in the hospital in case I did. Since I have small children, it was like a mini vacation!!
