    Starbucks Coffee Anyone?

OMG! I would give my right arm for a vanilla-caramel creme frappacino. SLURP!

    14 days post op question

Every doctor is different! I only had to do liquids for four days before I started on "mushies". I sympathize with you, though!

    what sucks the most.......

I am 3 weeks post op, and haven't had a fill. So, I am in "Bandster Hell". That place where you are hungry, and have no restriction. In addition, I am on the "transition" stage of my post-op diet, so although I finally graduated from "mushies", I am still on soft foods -- so my food choices are still limited. Otherwise, I have had no pain, no complications, and BEST of all, I AM losing weight! Good luck!
  4. I had surgery 3 weeks ago. My incisions are all healed over, with the exception of my port incision. The stitches came out a little too soon, and it is still "scabby". Anyway, I am a pool girl too. We have our own inground pool, and as I am a teacher and have the summer off, I virtually live in the pool. My doctor gave me the go ahed 10 days post-surgery. However, I guess it depends on the surgeon and the person (how well you heal). Hope you get to make a splash!

    What to buy before surgery??

It seems like you got it down pretty well. Popcicles, sugar free jello, flavored water (if you don't like it "plain"). I found the broth kind of tasteless. So, I called my doctor and got the okay to make veggie soup or chicken noodle soup, and STRAIN it so that I was just getting the liquid and not the "chunks". I found that more tolerable. GOOD LUCK!
  6. On a scale of 0 - 10, my pain was really only a 1 or 2. I was more uncomfortable with the gas than anything. My neck and shoulder hurt worse than the actual surgery areas!
  7. YIPEE!!!!!! HOORAY!!!! :w00t: How exciting for you!:frown: I can't wait to join you!

    question on pills!

If your surgeon did not put any fill in during surgery, you would probably be okay to swallow them. One thing you can do is open the pills up and use a small piece of bread as a "plug" (just big enough to keep the powder from spilling out of each pill). Soft American cheese, like Velveeta works too. I had a pharmacist tell me about this when I had to take a lower dose of a med that only came in capsules. Either way, I hope you get it down!
  9. No fill here! I try to eat high fiber, high protein "fillers". I have discovered that Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal really holds me over for breakfast. It has more fiber and protein than other oatmeals. Also, someone mentioned refried beans, and if you like them, they are also a great filler food. I had them for lunch with a little salsa and cheese.

    sooo worried

I had the same worries as you. I am also self-pay. I am now over two weeks out and have had NO problems so-far! I am still paranoid about a leaky band -- because I couldn't afford to have it replaced if it happened. BUT, I am not going to "borrow" trouble.

    Bandastic Meals

I've never heard of it! I will have to check it out!
  12. What a nice thing to say --"pay for my airfare, and I will be by your side!" There was a woman who was all alone when I was banded. Congrats to Agnes! I hope she is still feeling well.
  13. I get that same "pinch" when I bend over. Otherwise, I can't feel it.
  14. I had the same problem right after surgery. I had mine on a Wednesday and it was the following Saturday before I could get a really satisfying burp! I think as the swelling went down, it became easier for the air to go up (as opposed to down)! I see you are taking the gas x strips. Keep that up -- it really seemed to help me.
  15. Hi!

I was also banded by Dr. Malley -- on the 24th. How was your experience? Mine has been pretty good so far!

  16. Hi, I was just wondering how long it was, post surgery, before you started eating regular food (not mushies)?
  17. I NEVER thought about refried beans!!!! They ARE a mushy food! I am buying some tonight. Refried beans...cheese...salsa. OMG, it's almost like a REAL meal!!!!:smile2:
  18. I will have to try that! Can you buy it anywhere -- Walmart or Walgreens?
  19. I have the info...just curious about everyone else's "plan". My plan: clear liquids day after surgery liquids (Protein shakes, blended soups, etc...) for 4 days Mushies for 1 - 2 weeks (depending on progress) soft foods for 1 week regular foods by week 4 or 5.

    First 10 days on liquids?

I was on Clear liquids the day following surgery, and then I could "graduate" to other liquids -- soups, Protein shakes, milk, etc... On day 4, I could go to "mushies". I am now 2 weeks post-op and am on soft foods -- mashed potatoes, rotisserie chicken, creamy soups, cottage cheese, and string cheese. Each doctor is so different in their methods!
  21. Thanks for the info. I have heard that a high-protein/low-carb diet can cause bad breath! Yuck. I guess I need to find a way to deal with THAT now!

    What do you all do?

I am an elementary school teacher -- ho-hum!

Why do women have anal sex?

I like it -- on occasion! I definitely have to be in the right mood. My DH loves it! He and his ex used to do it anally all the time. Me...I was an anal cherry when we got together 3 years ago. After the first time, I said, "NO WAY" to a second. However, we have done it a couple of more times and with stimulation, I did have a great orgasm!
  24. I am with you all! My instructions said to wait 30 minutes before. I keep wondering why also!!
