  1. I am sure this is just because I am a newbie, but what is PB'd?
  2. Thank you so much for all your advice. I know it will not be an easy road and I will have to work to make it work. It is nice to hear what you go through after having the lap band. Wow you statistics are very motivating. Congratulations on your success! I hope mine is half as good!
  3. Have any of you had surgery there? What was your experience? I have my first consultation with their office in West Des Moines next Tuesday. Am scared to death insurance won't cover it or something will go wrong.
  4. Where are you considering having it or have you already had it now? If so where? I am considering the Weight Loss Surgical Center. Stefani
  5. I am in the early stages of setting up a lap band surgery. I am considering doing it with Weight Loss Surgical Center in Kansas City. I would appreciate any experience anyone has with them. I am from Iowa as I said in the title. I am 34 yrs old and have battled with yo-yoing since 7th grade. I am now at my biggest and am tired of the constant battle with myself. I had lost 56 pounds between last July and Thanksgiving only to put it back on and a little more (just like they say you do). The frustration has to stop. I want to be around for my two boys and husband. I am excited to hear from everyone and hopefully establish some new friendships as well as learn from everyone elses experiences. Stefani
  6. If you don't mind, what sort of complications did you have? I am waiting on insurance approval and am interested in hearing what others have gone through. You have obviously talked to your doctor if you say you are not supposed to eat? Is the gaining weight at first normal? Sorry for so many questions. I hope things turn around for you soon! I am sure you did the right thing in having the surgery done and in a month or so you will know you have!
  7. That is AWESOME! Congratulations!
  8. Has anyone had surgery at this location or with this group? I am considering having surgery with them if my insurance covers it. I would just like some reassurance about them. It is a big step and you always want the best in surgeons. Thanks for any adivce you can give.

I am a stay at home working mom of two boys (6 and 2 yrs). I am married to my junior high sweetie (been together dating since 1989). I can not handle the yo-yo dieting anymore. I lose and then gain (usually more). Last June I started a diet and lost 56 lbs by Thanksgiving. I am now back to where I was and even a little bit more. I let it slip and have fallen into a dark abyss. I am tired of the abyss'. I need something to help me stay once I am down. I want to be around for my children and hopefully grandchildren. My family has a background of high blood pressure, high cholesteral, diebetes, and heart problems. I know my weight does not help that. Plus I have had ACL reconstruction (knee surgery) and have restless leg syndrome. I have to get the weight off of my knees. I just don't feel like moving anymore. ANd that is not fair to my sons. Who just want to play with mom. My mom had had Gastric Bypass done and she has done fabulous. I want to try something, but not necessarily as drastic of a surgery as she so that is why I have chosen to go with Lap Band.

  12. Why Mexico? They talked about Kansas City with me. I have a meeting with them for the first time on June 30 in West Des Moines.
  13. I was considering going this saturday as well (june 27)
  14. CONGRATULATIONS! Can I ask a question...the dieting you have to do prior to insurance approval...what happens if you lose the weight and keep it off? I have dieted and had some success at weight loss, but always gain it back. So how do they look at that.
  15. I would like more information. I am considering the weight loss surgical center, but wasn't for sure it was legit.
