  1. Hi Chris, good to hear from you. I have not heard a peep from her. I did check a while back on when she had been on here last and it had been a long time. I guess maybe she wants it that way as she has never gotten back in touch with me after I tried to get a hold of her. I do hope she is ok though. Good on you with that 60 lbs.! I am in a holding pattern right now but am sure I will start losing again soon.

We've been doing a lot of quading. Last weekend we camped with about 4 other families in Powell Canyon which is about 15 miles south of Hawthorne. We road all over those mountains! We went up to Aurora and Bodie and then back across the highway and up over to Cabin under the Rock. You can view Boundry Peak from there. It's pretty awesome!

  2. Is there anyway that you could add the definition of these two curiosities to the profile interview? Maybe you could frame it as a question? Like "Do you know what a PB or Slime is?" Have the definitions or explanations included in the "Profile questionaire." Let it be a yes or no question. Then maybe have it so you can't proceed until you answer yes or no to the question. Of course there maybe a better way to address the issue and I am sure many of us are open to any and all suggestions. I, like everyone else didn't know what a PB or Slime was when I first joined and the question has become so redunant that it's almost embarrassing (I said "almost"). I mean that in a good way! Thanks:biggrin1:

  3. Hi rwel4! Good luck to you! The liquid diet is a bummer but I was determined to do it and I got through it. Before you know it, it's over. I still don't mind the liquid Protein Shakes. I bought a Magic Bullet blender and the Walmart vanilla whey Protein. I also used the stuff that I got through Western Bariatric. I bought different kinds of fresh fruit (frozen also), added some ice and a little fat free milk, the protein and blended it up good, it tastes great! I also used some of the Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup in them once in a while. Anyway, welcome to you and best wishes.

  4. Robin, Congrats on your banding. I wish you the most! Hope you still feel good tomorrow. I had a hiatal hernia done at the same time too. My doc said it was going to be uncomfortable for a week or so. He was right as far as my case was concerned. Anyway I am all better now and have mended well. Losing a little slower than I would like but at least I am losing.

  5. SBee hi and welcome!

You know you made me think a little. I think my moment when I really believed I was making a positive change in my life was when I woke up from surgery and felt secure in the fact that I was finally banded. I had finally gotten everything all together and was now going to get help to gain some control over my weight again. At my age, I had lost weight many times and gained it back. Even though I am hoping to lose at least 70 lbs and there are others who have more to lose than me, if you are 70 lbs overweight or 270 overweight, it is still depressing and very difficult to lose the weight. With the help of these bands (that didn't exist for us older ladies) it gives hope to all of us no matter how much we need to lose. Yes, you still have to use good judgement and eat right but at least you have a "friend" helping you along the way.

  6. Oh no that would be very disappointing! What did they say they could do about it? Who did it for you? I have had three fills now the first one was a little uncomfortable, the second was very uncomfortable and they said mine was tilted but they were able to get a fill in. This time the third different person did my fill and it was a piece of cake. Just a little sting. She didn't have any problems at all. Please let me know what happens to you now? Gail

  7. Hi Green,

that I might sleep in a semi-sitting up position."

I just wanted to tell you the best solution my husband and I have found is to cut a 2x4 to fit your bedframe and slip it right between the rails and bottom of box springs. If you already have bed boards, just lay it on top of the top board. This would only be one board and only at the top. If you have a waterbed or air mattress I am not sure you could get this to work. You really don't need a bunch of pillows.

  8. Hi Robin,

Welcome and Good Luck to you! First of all, I have no regrets at all! Just wanted to tell you that. I first contacted them in July of 2006. Because I was on Medicare, I had to wait my turn in line. They only take so many medicare patients. So, I waited 6 months for my Dr. consultation and then two months to surgery on March 7th.

They were pretty much right on with the estimated surgery date they gave me. However, I must say, I had to stay on top of everything and double check with them that they had all the different test info etc. A couple of times I was told by my PCP that they had faxed all my info that WBI requested but WBI said they didn't have it I know that they did too, because I called and checked the following day and they said yes, they had sent it. By this time a couple of months had passed and I know if I hadn't been checking on things it would have delayed my surgery by at least a couple of months.

So stay on top of things. Call and check to see if they have received everything. If you have tests done you might want to call and see if the results are in (within a reasonable amount of time of course).

Everyone at the Office has been just great, they somehow manage to stay cheerful and very helpful even tho they are very busy.

  9. Count me in too! Didn't know I had a hernia until after surgery. My doc took care of it during surgery. He said the only problem there might be was that I would have more pain in recovery because of the hernia repair. He was right but I am fine. Also NO MORE ACID REFLUX!!!

Even though it may be inconvenient, I would drop that doctor like a HOT POTATO!!!:faint:

  10. Well, it wasn't quite as bad as I was afraid it would be. Even tho I have not been very loyal to my band this month, I still lost 3.4 lbs. I count myself fortunate, believe me.

I now have 2 cc in a 4 cc band (9.75cm) Don't know if I have any restriction yet. liquids ya know!

Chris, how did your fill and appt. go?

Pam where the heck are you? How did your fill and appt. go?
