  1. My doctor has said that food can get stuck for an extended period of time, and if this happens, to go in and he will have to use a scope to remove it. I once got stuck and was vomiting (really dry heaving with a little slime) for 3 hours and thought that was excessive. He told me if I was still doing it in the morning to come down....thankfully it only lasted another half hour. I sure did NOT want to have him remove it!
  2. If you can read a newspaper through it, it's a clear liquid. That's how it was told to me :smile2:

    Multivitamin making me sick?

I think they're nasty. I gave up on them and got something from walmart instead. A lot of people chew the flintstone or the gummies.
  4. I'm 31 and I'm pregnant with my first child. I was banded June 10, 2010 and by May I was pregnant. My doc is thrilled and gave me a slight unfill because my band tightened with the pregnancy. There is absolutely no reason why I can't have a vaginal birth because of the lap band. Now, that's not to say something else would cause me to have a c-section, but right now everything is trucking right along. I'm currently 17 weeks, i'm on target with my weight gain, and I'm happy as can be. So far, baby is too!
  5. 250 calories a day will send your body into starvation mode and you will NOT lose weight. You cannot survive off only 250 calories a day. Malnutrition will set in and you'll start to look like a 3rd worlder. My doctor and nutritionist have been amazing. I was told that once I got past the swelling and could begin to eat I would need to have between 900 and 1200 calories a day. Anything less and I will go into starvation mode and weight loss will cease. I was also told if I went a week without losing one pound, to go back to a liquid diet until I lost that pound plus one more. It was a "time-out" and worked wonders for getting me back on track. Once I met goal, I increased my calorie intake to 1500. You CAN get all your Protein in, but it will require you to eat more calories. 250 calories is just not healthy.

    Infection in belly button

Just make sure you dry it out real well after a shower lol.

    Trampoline

That's fantastic!!!! I would LOVE a trampoline! I just don't have the excuse to get one....yet! I bought a Cannondale mountain bike in the spring and I love it. I feel like I can ride for hours. I usually do about 5 miles. Although I haven't been riding since it got to 100+ degrees outside and I found out I'm pregnant. Hopefully I can pick it back up when it cools off a little.

    Infection in belly button

It might be a yeast infection in there. Sometimes that can happen, especially if you're an innie. Lamasil should take care of it.

    To Tight?

You're definitely too tight. I would get some removed. The band isn't supposed to make it hard to eat.

    Weight Gain!!!

Every person is different. But you also need to make sure you exercise. Exercise is just as important a tool as the band. You don't have to go out and run a marathon, but walking around your neighborhood would be a good place to start. Once you do start doing some more in depth exercising, you still need to put those calories you burn back.

    Weight Gain!!!

You're in bandster hell. As you progress to fuller foods, you begin to gain a little weight. Your foods are "heavier" so you get a little heavier. It's absolutely normal. I had to eat about 1200 calories in order to lose weight. Otherwise my body went into starvation mode. Try upping your calories a little more. I usually suggest to stay between 1000 - 1200 calories.

    Another soup question...

My surgeon did not give me an amount during the full liquid phase. I was allowed to have as much soup as I needed to stay satiated. I would eat about a half cup and then a couple hours later I would go back for more. Rather than straining my soup I used a Magic Bullet to puree the heck out of it and then added brother to thin it out a bit.
  13. When you made your ticker there were a couple different codes. The one you need to use here starts like this [img That's the BB code. You'll put that in your signature in your User CP.

    Spousal Support

My husband was amazing through the whole process, including when I finally reached goal. He even changed his diet with me, ate slowly with me, and lost 30 pounds just from doing what I do. He did want to do the pre-op diet and the post-op diet with me but I wouldn't let him. I told him it was bad enough me doing it!
  15. I'd say it's normal. I think I felt the same way. That and I was highly irritable. I distinctly remember that!

    Terrified!!!!

    1. loose skin--how much worse is that that fat, stretched out skin? I have some loose skin, but not enough that my insurance will cover a tuck. So if they aren't worried about it, neither am I. 2. my abusive relationship with food. it has been a long road but the things that I have to give up are not really good for me anyway. I have done a lot of planning for this part. I am as ready as I can be for this. Rather than just giving up foods, I learned to substitute instead. When I met goal, I began to allow some foods back into my life on a very rare basis. 3. More wrinkles, I assume some are hiding under here;-). I don't really have an issue with any wrinkles. But then again, I'm only 31. I'll eventually get them 4. The pain of surgery and recovery. I had my lap band done in June 2009. In January 2010 I had shoulder surgery. I'd rather have lap band 1000 more times than another shoulder surgery. Ever. I'm still recovering from that. The pain really wasn't that bad. I was more sore than in pain. I felt as if I had done 1000 situps the day before. Here are some things that I don't know if I can deal with: 1. hair loss- I have already lost so much hair from Metformin (anti-diabetic drug). I know this sounds vain but I just cannot go bald here! I haven't really lost any hair. However, I wish my hair would thin out a bit. My hair is super thick! 2. The gas!!! I am extremely conservative about this issue. I cannot be walking around passing gas all the time for the rest of my life or even the next year. I just starting going back to school and I am horrified enough being the fat, old girl in class with a bunch of 20 year olds! I cannot be the fat, old girl who passes gas in class!!! I just cannot. I do not have a gas issue. 3. The obsession that seems to come with surgery. I don't want to weigh myself everyday and worry that I am able to eat and not losing enough weight. I just don't want this to define me. I realize it will from now until a while after surgery but I just don't want to obsess about it all the time. My doctor had me weigh every day. I didn't look at it as an obsession, but as an accountability thing. Since I have reached goal, I still kept up with the every day weight thing. However, when I found out I was pregnant, and I had 1.5cc's removed, I knocked this down to once a week. I did that so I wouldn't worry about whether I was gaining enough weight or not. I'll let the OB tell me if I am or not. So far they are happy. I know this can be different for everyone but I am seriously considering cancelling the surgery because why don't I just eat less and exercise to lose weight. Yeah, I know, I have been doing that for 10 years without success and I have 3 small children who need a healthy, active mommy that will be around as long as she can be. I am just FREAKING OUT!! This is an absolutely normal thing to wonder. I even wonder to this day if I could have done it on my own, but when I look back I KNOW i couldn't. How do I know? I was a pretty active person before I had the surgery. I hiked. I do landscape photography, so I had to get to those places somehow! I mowed my lawn. I told my husband I wanted to do that. I even walked around the reservoir we have here and around the neighborhood. Obviously the weight wasn't coming off. A lot of that had to do with having PCOS. My doctor even told me I wasn't going to lose the weight on my own with PCOS. CAN SOMEONE TALK ME OFF THE LEDGE??? I have a support system but not one that understands fully what I am going through. Nobody will fully understand what you're going through unless they go through it themselves. And it really takes a lot to get to the point where you decide you want to get lap band and make your life a much better and happier (less food filled) place. But it's such an amazing journey (even with all the ups and downs) and is worth it in the end. I will say this though, I only told a few people I had it done. It wasn't until after I had reached goal that I became open about it. I didn't want to deal with people's negativity. I didn't want anything to bring me down!

    Concerned about weight loss

The pre-op diet isn't so much about losing weight as it is shrinking the fat around your liver. Weight loss just happens to be a wonderful side effect of it for most people. You're doing fine You'll get through this and get your band and be on your way!
  18. I think you should tell your PCP simply because he's your PCP and needs to be informed about all your medical history.
  19. I use the magic bullet all the time. It has a few different blades with it. It doesn't puree everything. It's quite handy! They have recipes on their website as well.
  20. That magic bullet was definitely worth the money. I still use it for my regular cooking. It's simple and fast! I'd pay for it all over again. Mine came with 3 or 4 different blades, 4 cups, and a couple different lids.
  21. I did! I bought a Magic Bullet and I used that to puree every soup I had. Split pea, chicken noodle, cream of chicken, cream of potato, broc and cheese, you name it. It made the full liquids phase sooooooooo much easier
  22. You could still be swollen if you haven't been taking it easy after the stuck episode. Most doctors suggest going back to liquids for a couple days after a stuck episode because you do swell afterwards. It's possible it's still there. You shouldn't still have this feeling almost a week out from the episode. You may need to talk to your doctor and see if he needs to go in and remove it.
  23. That's definitely something to call a surgeon and talk to them about. I just can't imagine going from GB to LB.
  24. I'm pretty sure you're going to be approved Jillian, but doubts are totally normal! I will be praying for you! My family has BC/BS and they had no issues getting approved. I have Tricare Prim, so I'm not familiar with BC/BS myself.
  25. I think it shows you're beginning to rewire your brain for more nutritious choices! That's one of the first steps. I used to run to chips or something as a snack, whereas now I go grab a veggie or a piece of fruit.
