1. You did the first best thing logged into VST! Eat some Protein, dense then you will be too full to graze. I know the grazing trap so easy..Unfortunately we have to live a a world full of food. I also chew gum, some people say it makes you hungry but it helps me do something with my mouth (I also blow big bubbles..entertaining to myself). You are doing great ! Plan what to eat and eat what you plan!!!! Best to you.
2. spent the weekend away...didn't plan my food (would have been rude to my hosts!) but I just eat in moderation. Weighed the first 130.4 will see 120's next month for sure! Day off so on the chores I didn't get to over the weekend. First thing is to make my food plan for the day. How is everyone else doing???
3. I drink a diet soda every now and then but I am over 2 years out. I was never a big soda drinker before. I drink alot of tea (warm w/vanilla soy slender*, cold w/splenda) so I need a change every now and then (Water is not my beverage of choice) Each of us is different. *sweet and has less sugar than milk and has protein-I use this for Cereal also-which I rarely eat) Best to you. Dee
4. I am still here. last night had a carb crave, drank a warmed Premier Protein drink. I had formed a really bad habit of snacking while reading in bed (carbs of course-healthy carbs ha-ha) put the nix on that! Planned my food for the planning to eat what I planned. Lets keep this alive. Dee
5. Follow your the food plan, I didn't like the one I got from Dr. Aceves. I used one called Cornell for the sleeve, it worked for me. Plan what to eat and eat what you planned. I also kept a copy hung up and crossed off each day. It kept me motivated and on track. This is ilfestyle change. Your stomach has to heal you had surgery! Best to you. (do not beat yourself up, I have had my fill with all the crazy diets I tried over the years) I consider myself a retired dieter. Dee
6. I think the best advice is too follow a food plan. I used the cornell sleeve plan got it off the web. No matter which one it will give you some structure. I know for me, given to my own devices when I was first sleeved I would have sabatoged myself. Best to you no matter what you decide! Dee
7. try logging your food so you get a good feel on how much Protein vs. carb you are really eating. (I use sparkspeople.com) there are lots of sites to choose from, most are free (mine is) I recently put some weight back on because I went back to my carb diet. I got sick of Protein shakes etc, it is really challenging for me to get enough protein without some form of supplement. I am trying to get over 100 grams a day and never more carbs (today I had 121 protein and 67 carbs) I won't keep logging in my food once I get back in the groove. I LOVE this sleeve (I had a band and it sucked!) make it work for you! keep logging on to this board. (I heated up a Protein Drink, Premier chocolate, it worked for, yeah!!) Best to you.. Dee
8. All can tell you is keep doing what you are doing follow your food plan, each of us is different YOU WILL lose! Get off the scale! I only weighed myself once a month. Remember this is a lifestyle change not "another diet" best of luck to you. Keep loggin in her for support. I am 2 years out and have kept my weight off (I have but on some but that was because I was just basically eating slider carbs) The good new I didn't have to buy the next bigger size clothes! Dee
9. Since I have gained some I am not worried about being too thin. I did this to be healthy and stop the yo-yo down 40 up fifty...So I quess I am a light weight, but my struggle is the same. Each of us has our own path. That being said I am now 1000-1200. I use sparkspeople to track, my main goal right now is to get enough Protein in. I am positive that is way I gained carbed out way too much. I don't obsess about the scale. My jeans were way too tight. That is what got me to be serious again. Dee
10. Irene, I just read this entire thread. YOU ARE AMAZING!!! The last pic of your legs is unreal they are great looking. You rock. Gonna post some more before and after? Hope all is still going well for you. I am inspired. Thank you. Dee
11. I didn't have heartburn aka GERD before my sleeve. I now take 2 PPI's a day. I guess it is a small price to pay for this sleeve. I really does work. Get an Rx or OTC if you have s... insurance. Dee
12. thanks for the reply looks like you are doing great. Congrats on 43.4 lbs lost!
13. How many of you are still using PPI"s (Rx for GERD) I can't seem to get off them. Even had to up to 2 a day!
14. I am starting to slowwly gain. lowest was 126 now up around 135 I am so scared I will get fat again. Have one pair of jeans that fit (I didn't keep any fat clothes!) Started loggin in my food. Just can't seem to exercise enough I pushed myself too hard and hurt my knee. Night time is the hardest. Carb out. So I am logging in here to get some support. Going to bed. Miss this support.
15. So timely for me!! I have managed to gain 10 lbs back. And I just can't seem to get rid of it. Once again you are an inspiration to me! Back to the basics! will log in more often and remember I got most of my stomach out for a reason!!!! NO 20 lbs for me!!!! Dee
16. HELP. I am at goal holding steady for about 6 month. I am having a hard time getting my Protein in. I really can't stomach any :puke: (I am pretty sure I have tried them all!!!-today i am going to buy some instant Breakfast as a last ditch effort) protein drinks/powder. Same with Protein Bars. I have hit a wall. Sugestions? :help: Dee
17. I would want it fixed. I developed one after surg. Via a trip to ED thought something was stuck it continues causing me problems:crying:, can't eat enough and have acid reflux. I am going to have mine repaired. Dr. Aceves said he would fix it. (not sure if there is a cost involved?) I see my PCP and will ask her.
18. DR. Jossart, Do you have time to answer my question/concern? Thank you, Dee
19. I just wanted to share it has been 4 1/2 months since I had my band removed and I am at my goal. The band was a nightmare for me the multiple fills (which I had to pay for since I had my band done in Mx) food getting stuck, being afraid to eat, puking, sliming and knowing I had a foreign body in me with the port showing like a tumor! Strong advice: if you are getting a revision I would advise you choose a surgeon who has experience in revisions-it is not the same as a new sleeve, there is scar tissue involved making the surgery more challenging-this is not "routine surgery". I followed Dr Aceves post-surgery diet but modified it with the Cornell post-sleeve diet. My hunger is very much under control, I don't log in or count any calories. I am a professional dieter I KNOW what is in what! I eat enough protein (I still drink protein drinks but I did that before I got the band) I didn't/don't obsess about the scale didn't weight myself every day, weekly at best. Gauged how I was doing by how my clothes fit. Had a "collection size 16 to size 6". I got to goal a few years ago using sparkspeople, but like usual (got to goal w/weight watchers, TOPS, Atkins...) I gained the weight back. That is why I got the band to put an end to the obsession w/food. The band didn't do that for me but the sleeve so far has done that for me. Finally wearing my size 6 comfortably. People have noticed how "skinny" I am. I eat for nutrition, there is little room for much else! I have given my sizes 16 to 8 away, I have never done that before. Size 8 was the hardest to let go of. I would not have done the revision without this board. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you:001_wub: Dee
20. Dr. Jossart,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I had a VSG 3/16/10, revision from band. I have since developed a hiatal hernia (discovered after a trip to the ED) Can it be repaired? I know the normal procedure a Nissen Fundoplication would be hard to do with what little stomach I have left. My main concern is developing Barrett's esophagus. I also am concerned with taking PPI's for an extended time frame. Is there a repair procedure? Thank you for your time, Dee
21. The "real" shoes are MBT's they have been around for quite a while(they cost $200-250) Sketchers doesn't have the same technology but it is most likely pretty close? (I tried the Sketchers and they come no where close to my MBT's) Dee
22. I have developed a hiatal hernia, thought I had some food stuck was pretty scared. Went to the Ed after the most awful tests was Dx w/a hiatal hernia. I did not have this prior to my revision. Has this happened to anyone else? I am going to send an e-mail to Dr. Aceves. Going to see my PCP when I can get an apppointment. Just what I need another surgery!:thumbup1: Dee
23. I have lost a total of 30 lbs since the sleeve. I was a low BMI when I was banded. (highest weight was 200 banded @ 175) My original time to goal was 4th of July. I have not logged in my food (might not work for everyone) I got the band because I was sick of dieting. I really have the sense that I am DONE with diets. I can see how maybe (I NEVER thought I would say this!!) I might lose too much weight. I am not hungry so I have to remember to eat. I have been diligent in taking my prilosec. Per Dr. Aceves I should only need it for 6 months. Hope you are doing well with your new sleeve. Wasn't Dr. Aceves and staff wonderful! I had a hard time after surgery (profound nausea) and they were caring and compassionate. Keep us posted. love your screen name I can soooo relate!!! Dee
