Yeah I think weight issues are only an issue here in the U.S. When I went to Italy last July, there were no extra large clothes in the stores....i guess the "fat Italians" that are portrayed on TV are just "Fat Italian Americans"..even the English and French were thin!! I myself lost 17 lbs in the 2 weeks I was there!!! Go figure! Hope you feel better soon!

Little bird, sounds like you were at my house!!!! I came home with lip gloss on and got "why you wearing that" Ugh...because I can!! I am sure the scale is messed up don't be discouraged (and yeah I'd stay off it for awhile). When is your surgery scheduled? You'll be okay! And keep em guessing at home (hair curling)......its fun!!!

OMG....the doc thinks i have sleep apnea...so his nurse calls me to tell me when and where to go for testing.....the doc writes stars all over my chart and writes "august surgery" on the papers. I know cause he gave me a copy. So she calls and gives me an appt 5 weeks later...hello this does not work for me...doc told me a day or two...yeah. So then she tells me getting the sleep study sooner will not get me into surgery sooner.....omg did she not hear her own words???? So I decide to look around for another place...i find that my insurance covers a place an hour north...no problem its near my school. I call her back and she tells me that she "doubts the doc will give me a referral for that place" I inform her that i am going where the insurance pays it!!!!!! So two days later she calls the place and I get in...in two weeks. So now I def have it and nurse-zilla calls me to give me the results...."wow-this is the highest number I have ever seen" okay "what does this mean?' i ask, she comes back with "I don't know" OMG shoot me now please!! She has no clue about sleep apnea....so why is this woman with RN behind her name calling me?? At the very least I expect the person calling me and giving me all this info to know WTF she is talking about! So now I have an appt where she wants me to go...I call insurance and got the tax id for them..yay its covered. I call after its said and done because the tech tells me she is rushing this because of all the stars on my chart. Yay. I call nurse-zilla and she gets pissed "it takes 2 weeks you know" Ummm yes i do and explain to her again why I need it in Aug and why the doc starred my chart. So i call the sleep apnea place directly, its on the doctors desk....my doctor!!! Yeah i call back, I get the machine. Nurse zilla calls back to tell me that the doc will come in and it takes 10 days for the transcriber to type it. Ugh okay I am at her mercy I thank her and hang up! Now mind you I starte this lap band journey back in April and have had all my pre-op testing done. I need August because today was my last day of school and I start again on 8/28 but with 6 CLASSES!! I cannot miss that many classes I will be too far behind..3 psych classes and 3 education classes!!!! The doc knew this...they all did, and all promised me august. Okay so the doc calls me last night and tells me to call the surgeon in the morning and schedule my surgery....he faxed everything over...I call today and nope, nothing. I tell the receptionist about nurse-zilla (she was not surprised) and i tell her no way can i call that office back, but i did because the surgeons fax was down..lucky for me. So i call the pulm doc and leave a message for nurse-zilla and she informs me that she didn't know i had insurance and had to call them first.......OMG shoot me....no shoot her. I have never ever had problems with any doc anywhere but now i see how this crap happens. I can't believe she is a nurse, and doesn't know anything about what she is doing...oh and she is NOT new! Oh and guess what......my sleep number is a 7, which is not so high, so why the hell did she scare me like that a month ago and I haven't slept since then (except for the Mojito night...lol) I am not for wishing ill will on people.....this woman is gonna get hers via bad karma!!!! Oh yeah and last night I slept like a rock!!! :notagree yay (except hubby said i was having a big conversation in my sleep ugh) Oh yeah since the sleep apnea I have been sleeping on the couch (well laying down anyway) for fear of keeping hubby up all night with my tossing and turning. (he is roofing right now, don't want him to fall off due to lack of sleep!)

Lapbandit, your progress is great!!!! That doc sounded like an idiot (regarding the band i mean) I wouldn't tell her a thing about the banding next time, let her look it up...lol. It must be doc week. My pulm doc's nurse calls me about sleep apnea and knows nothing about it....i mean nothing...hello she is his nurse, it is her job to know about it, its one of his specialties! And why is she calling patients if she is clueless. I was tempted to call the village today and tell them i know where their idiot is hiding. Finally the doc called me and straightened everything out! Keep up the good work, you are an inspiration!!

I saw it.....Carnie only has 33 lbs to lose!!! She weights 188. And, that was from having a baby a year ago. The panel mentioned her GB...they said exactly what my doc said ...that GB's have to lose in the 1st year because it isn't a continual thing and they still have to be careful. Carnie admitted she was a snacker. I think she looks better.....145 lbs (when she posed naked) she was too skinny. A lot of the celebs on this one really only have a little weight to lose....not like the past 3 shows!

I Ditto that!!! He is from Malaysia....they must tell it like they see it there. (with no regard) And apparently their sleep apnea machines are nothing like ours?? I don't know anything about Malaysia.. so this is strickly an observation.

Oh no, are you kidding...I have been waiting all this time for my cpap...and tonsils can be a culprit??? Ugh, I could have had my tonsils out quicker than it took to get my pulm doc to read my test results!!:frusty: :pound:

It would seem that you have a little more than sleep apnea going on...the symptoms you list are not symptoms of sleep apnea....sleep apnea symptoms occur at night while you are sleeping (or lack of sleeping) It sounds like you don't get enough air during the day due to your weight...sweating, panting, blueish finger nails, coughing, weezing aren't symptoms of sleep apnea..apnea is the stopping of breathing. You don't have your own machine...that stinks.....don't you have health insurance ?? I would def get one, sleep apnea also strains your heart....can lead to heart failure...not good.

I know what sleep apnea is ---I have it.

I would think that your cpap at home is fine...they used a different type in the hospital, so that is prob where the problem was during your hospital stay (why on earth would they use something different on you...hospitals do the strangest stuff!) Of course for peace of mind, I'd call the doc. You sound like you worry the same why I do, so I would call the doc anyway;) I don't know if you have had any other surgeries prior to lapband, but I'll say this anyway...lol. Just remember that anesthesia can stay in your body for quite some time (I have been told by my doc -it could be 4-6 months) each surgery is different, and each recovery is different. So that is prob why you are feeling groggy...plus I bet the pain meds they gave you are not as strong as hosp meds, so you are gonna feel different. Best Wishes!!!!

And, OMG the pulm doc finally called me, he told me I can go ahead and schedule surgery...he faxed the info to the doc, and to the cpap people so they get right here to give me the cpap:painkiller: !!! So tomorrow I call the surgeon!! I asked what my sleep number is and its 7....which happens to be my lucky number, but aside from that I feel better because the lowest number they use is 4....so I am only 3 over that.....not so terrible in the scheme of things!!!! So now comes the nervous part.....I have a battery of questions to ask the doc..............scary stuff I have read on the boards. But i myself have had 3 c-sections :omg: so I have had abdominal surgery before so there is a chance that I will not have all the terrible things happen to me as it has others. (also had back surgery and was shovelling the driveway 2 days later) (I am a really good surgery candidate--no prob with local or general!!!-and I heal really really well !!:clap2: )

Too much air in the cpap makes you wake up not make you sleepy. There had to be another issue regarding difficulty remembering anything the doc said to you. Too much air coming in makes you gasp. It has to--- if there is too much air in the lungs, it backs up and fills your cheeks....you open your mouth...and ta-da air is gone. The air you get from the cpap is about as pure as the air is in the room that it runs in. I'm sure there is some sort of filter....but its not that great. Besides for a medically supervised flushing...you were on drugs so they prob played a part in the memory lapse. Hell a barium enima is a psychedelic experience...ugh never want to do that again!!! LOL:p

So, Mr Tay never had the surgery (he was a martial arts instructor?---hmmmm)....They cut him open twice....he got blood poison....he was diabetic....Allergic reaction to the band...yeah I'll buy that...so they tell him to do it again (hello what happend to the allergic part??) ..so they go back in and 4 months later he had so much scar tissue they can't do it?? Hmmm...they must have chopped the crap out of him in the first surgery. hmmm at 378 lbs, he must have had other issues. I love the media and their lack of truth. Sad that he died though....it happens. At that weight, and being diabetic he prob wasn't gonna live a long time.

Dang, where did you get all that energy? If that is what banding does, I can't wait!! Don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat......you said you were laying wire...sounds muscle building! Yikes the bread incident sounds awful, hope you feel better! Best Wishes!!!!!

Wow Meyour...you ARE rude. (do they not have manners in your country?) Maybe had you posted info about yourself, you might not have been misunderstood. Honestly, not knowing you were foreign ..I was reading your postings and thinking you were loaded (drunk) or something because of the mix of translation and spelling errors....and this is in no way knocking you for being foreign, I wasn't born in the USA either! You need to understand that we don't understand where you are coming from...of course things are different for you than for us. So the fact that you were misunderstood, misconstrued, is entirely your fault. I can't believe you called someone a sad little girl and told her to leave, she has just as much right as anyone else to be here and you had no right to tell her to leave. Best wishes to you in your weight loss journey............but in the future, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Gotcha, had you said you were from another country, that might have cleared a few things. What country are you from?

Don't be disappointed in yourself, its hard to change from solids to all liquids. I am amazed that you are allowed veggies and lean meat at all! Something you may want to consider.....I know it happens in my case, the bullion....I'd ditch that because its salty and makes you thirsty which eventually makes you hungry. I'd try it without to see if that works for you. Just a thought! Good Luck on Friday!!!:huggie:

I guess it depends what state you are in, I see you are in Illinois, here in NJ it is quite common to be put completely under for a C-Section.

Hi, I didn't know about Dr Ortiz being certified way earlier than the other docs....i understand now! lol Yeah, I have been planning on getting that book for a few weeks now. I have not been scheduled yet....pulmonary doc (you can read my journals for the details) office is giving me a load of crap.....can't have surgery until i am on cpap for 2 weeks...pulm doc yanking my chain....ugh sorry...I am just so pissed off. I called them today, they never called me back. I am supposed to be studying for my spanis final.....I may just take the hour drive to give nurse-zilla the stare down tomorrow!!! I will let you know when I get my appt!!! take care!

Hooray for Bean-o I didn't know you could take it. 9 times--i def am not normal....lol carbon filters?? My sis didn't have to wear that! But that is funny, I was thinking scented pantyliners worn toward the back would do the trick.......LOL
