Im so upset :(
I would bet that your band has not slipped. Worry is a problem of its own. Slipage is very rare, worry is very common. A quick check with a Flouroscope and some Barrium is easy, your Dr. will know. I have my fills at fillcenterusa in Tampa/St. Pete and they check every time. All is OK.

For Just Us Guys
Being a guys Thread, I must say that is great. What issues are different from the gals? Well I can see my ...er.... feet when I am standing. I feel that the comments from female friends about "looking better" are true.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Zero, this was not what Dr. Ortiz recomended. The request that I lose 5%=20 pounds before banding was hard to grasp. After finding out that it helped to make the opperation go better, I chose to make the 20 pound goal. I have tried the Atkins type diet in the past and not been able to keep the weight off for more than about a year or two. It was not as hard to refuse food as I expected. After the all protien it felt strange, but I was determined to lose the 20 pounds. I kept up my Water intake and my family was supportive at first. During the second week when I went to zero food they began to try to get me to eat. It was harder on them than on me. Anyway the banding went smoothly, I was up and walking around less than one hour after going into the opperation room. I belive that the walking was a big key to my quick recovery. So far I am on track with weight loss. I feel like I have a life.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
The reason I ask was that Dr. Ortiz wanted me to lose 5% before opperation. I did it by going on protien only for a week then zero food for the next week. It was not as hard as I thought it might be. After one week of protien only I did not want to eat anything.

Were you able to lose any weight with a pre-op diet? i got the idea that helped with the opperation.

Will a fill help?
It sounds like a fill will do you right. Remember to stay away from the carbs. Carbs are the killer.

Severe Pain
I have had some discomfort with the port. I think it pinches the tissue. I move around and try to get more at ease. It is a small price to pay.

ports
I can not feel or see my port. It is under 3.5 inches of fat. I will be happy when I need to worry about how my port looks.

Severe vs mild slippage?
How is your eating, junk or the right stuff? Are you able to walk every day? The band is only a tool. You are down a lot of weight, it takes time and effort.

Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico
I went on a straight protein diet for a week. That killed the hunger, then went on zero food, none, not a bite for a week. Water only. Two days after banding I rented a car and drove my girl and her mother around town, then we headed off down the coast highway to explore Baha. It was fun; the back roads are rough at night you must go slow lots of cows in the road.

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
I guess the worst think someone has said to me was the lady in the public library. It was one of the days that I did not look my best. You know the days; fat, sloppy... well that must mean you are stupid. Well I ask for help with a reference book that they kept in the back and she told me that people like me should not be in the library. I was stunned, hurt, and speechless. I though about it for a few minutes and told myself that she must be having a very bad day and needed a dog to kick. I took it as a lesson of what not to do.

Shopping for a Dr. in Mexico
Dr Ortiz: I paid in advance, no extra charges were added to the band. They speak great english (but they sound a little like mexicans) they are easyer to understand than a bunch of the Yankees I work with. As for the practice of stating one price and charging another, that sound like my American Doctor (boy I do not want to start talking about this) Every time I go to the office I ask the price before going. 100% of the time they raise the price, we discuss it they lower the price, I pay it in full at the time of service. Then the bill comes in the mail... opps you owe more money...makes me want to crap in the return mail and send it.
