  1. HI LISA!! Thanx for the friend request. I was banded by Dr De La Torre, but not in St. Louis. Mine was in Columbia, he practices for Missouri Bariatric Services there. I've never really had any issues with the fills. I know they aren't very aggressive, but I do know that if you tell them that you're starving between meals and it's a battle to not eat all the time, they will give you a good fill. That's what I had to do. Hope this helps.

  2. I just wanted to let you know that we have something in common, Dr De La Torre did my surgery as well. I was banded 06/16/2009. I love the center and his staff there, they are wonderful. I'm scheduled to have my first fill one week from tomorrow.

  3. i just read your post on bg's blog and i've been having a terrible time with hard boiled eggs too. if i put them in my magic bullet i'm ok, but if i just try to eat them, forget it. tried one today and it was the closest i've come to throwing up since i got banded. which was june 16th. i guess i just can't eat them anymore.

  4. yeah i'm taking my vitamins. i get them from celebratevitamins.com, they're all pretty good. except for the hot cocoa calcium vitamin. don't get that. those are really gross. i had to send them back. you can have yogurt too on the second week. just not with any fruit chunks in it. when i get to nutrition class they gave me a little book, split up by week of all the things i can eat on each week. didn't you get one of those?

  5. i've lost 23 pounds so far. that's including pre op.

  6. eight cups of water, seven boullion cubes, six jumbo eggs and pepper to taste.

that's it super easy. and it was good. i like larger pieces of egg in mine. you just have to make sure that if you do that you chew them up really good.

he decided to make that for me cuz i can't drink the protein shakes anymore. was on the two weeks pre op and they just about make me gag. i can doctor them up sometimes, but still almost can't handle it. so the soup was liquid and i got a little protein from the eggs.

  7. including pre op i've lost 33 pounds. i'm sorry that you're hungry a lot. i'm really not. since the day they put the band in. i was a little hungry today so i had half a cup of egg drop soup and was full. totally unheard of. i used to be able to eat chinese by the bucket full. i'm still in a little pain. mostly at night. so i take my pain pills when i get to bed, and sometimes during the day if i need them. that's why they're there after all. last night i was very naseous but that's because i hadn't "eaten" anything since i was banded on the 16th. with the exception of a couple of popsicles. other than that things are great. getting my fluids and finding different ways to get the protein in. hence the egg drop soup. cuz the protein shakes are starting to make me gag.

  8. just wanted to tell you thans. checked out sparkpeople and it was super cool. i signed up so when i can have regular food it will be easy for me track things. just thought you'd want to know someone is paying attention.

  9. First of all let me say, LOVE THE PIC! There's not much funnier than the pumpkin throwing up. lol I'm doing really well. Still having a little bit of pain and nausea, but the pills are working pretty good for that. They put me to sleep though which isn't a bad thing, don't get much sleep anyway. I don't go back to work till next week yet, so I'm pretty much just chilling out and enjoying my time off. How about yourself?

  10. good luck to you! i think i'm doing ok most of the time. there really isn't any need to be nervous. of course there are risks as with any surgery, but it'll be so worth it. your new birthday and the first day of the rest of your life. it's not as hard as it sounds. when you think about it, all you have to keep saying to yourself is that being healthy is going to look and feel so much better than any of that other stuff ever tasted. keep me posted.

  11. She's doing much better. Thanx for asking. I'm kinda nauseous today for some reason, but other than that I'm ok. Getting ready to take the nausea meds right now. See if that helps. Other than that things are going great. My mom was doing so bad cuz she wasn't taking her meds on schedule like she was supposed to. and she has four big insisions so she's going to need to take it easy for a while yet. Well thanx for checking in. Talk to you soon.

  12. i'm actually doing really well. had half a protein shake today and also some water. i was a single incision so i only have one little scar, about 3mm long on my stomach. where they put my iv actually looks worse than my actual incision. it's nice. today i've just kinda laid around. not even taking much pain meds actually. what the doc gave me wasn't working so he fills something else for me that doesn't really work the best either. thank goodness i don't need it i guess. there are really only two pain medications that have ever worked for me and that's dilaudid and darvocet. but he said he can't call those in cuz of the high level of narcotics in it. well that's all i have for right now. just wanted to give you an update.

  13. Just wanting to check in on you since you were banded on the 16th. I actually ended up getting banded that day as well. Was supposed to be the 15th, but my doctor got stuck cuz they closed the highways due to flooding. So I had to have it the day after. Doing great though. How are you doing?

  14. Just wanted to drop you a line and see how you were doing. I hope everything went well for you. I actually had a minor setback and not getting banded untill today. We had really bad storms in this area yesterday and the doctor got stranded cuz they closed the interstate. Not good. So we got a room last night and came back this morning. Yesterday was a loooooooong day.

Well anyway. Just wanted to make sure you were doing ok and let you know I was thinking about you. Talk to you later. Good luck. Yesterday was your new Birthday.

  15. Good luck to you tomorrow too! I totally can't wait. I almost can't stand it. I've been on pins and needles all day. Hopefully I get some sleep tonight. On the upsdie my mom has cable so at least I won't be bored if I can't sleep. Keep me posted. I'm taking my laptop to the hospital so hopefully I'll be able to get back to you shortly after and let you know how I'm doing. Keep me posted.

  16. Too late, already read that one. I started at the beginning remember. lol That's ok, I would have done the same exact thing. As far as the chapstick goes. Well, I guess you call me an addict, I have one in my purse, one at my moms on the bedside table, one at home on the bedside table, one in my car, and one on my desk at work. :blushing: Bad obsession. My lips are always kissably soft though. I just can't wait, I bet I don't sleep a wink tonight.

  17. Nope not post band. Getting banded tomorrow actually. I do so love your blog though. It's consumed me for about the last three days. It's better than the book I've been reading.

  18. 3 more days man! i'm so excited. good luck to you and keep me posted. if i don't catch you from the hospital i'll be on when i get back home. hopefully. talk to you soon. and good luck!

  19. yeah i am. have been for the last week and half or so. then also two weeks after. best of luck monday to you too. keep me posted.

  20. I'm in Missouri, you?

  21. holy crap! we're getting banded the same day! good luck to you and keep me posted.

  22. Feel free to take a look around. If you're considering the surgery feel free to ask me any questions. If you've had it, that's great. I hope things are going great for you. I'd love to make some friends.
