  1. Jachut, you said you're happy if you're so sore you can't sit on the toilet. I can understand that kind of sore and I can understand liking it. I think this is different though. What if you can't lift the phone to your ear, sleep at night or cry from the head pain? Do you get those? Is that the same kind of thing? I'm honestly asking.

I have visible knots in my shoulders. I wear a size 50 L bra and have had the knots since I was a teen, they just get worse. The Drs have had me on such a high level of Naproxin for so long that my lap band Dr told me to still take it and crush it (usually a huge no-no with the band). I wake up every morning to back spasms. When I roll my shoulders they go "pop", "pop", "pop"-- I have no idea what that is but it comes from the muscles. When I walk my knots get much worse and I get additional knots in my neck and head. They are like lumps that feel bruised and tight. Is that the kind of pain you had? Or has anyone else had that?

I've tried to exercise through it. I have done the same low exercise, like 5 min treadmill five days a week or two 30 min Water aerobics a week, for a month and it gets worse and worse until I've lost a month of work and end up in so much pain I'm in bed for three days. Does it get better?

It's not like I'm looking for an excuse to be lazy. I dream of roller skating, riding a bike, hiking, play tennis, dancing-- I'm crying typing this. I just need some hope that I can get past this horrible pain.

  2. I posted this question in the fitness section 4 days ago but nobody answered. I was hoping I might find someone here.

I have such knots in my muscles that every time I do exercise I end up in such awful pain. I've started and stopped several exercise attempts because of pain. Five minutes on the treadmill, five days a week, gives me so much pain and headache that I can hardly function. A half hour Water aerobics class has wiped me out for a whole day.

It's a new year and I'm going to start again. I'm just worried about the pain. Will it ever go away? Has anyone else had this problem?

  4. ONE of the rudest things anyone said to me was... My mom came with me to my Lap Band prep appointment. The nurse was in the process of taking my weight, blood pressure etc. I was very excited (I'm sure you can all relate). My mom was excited too, but not for me exactly... She said "I finally get my beautiful daughter back!" The nurse looked at me like "Wow!"

    Yep, that's my mom. LOL

  5. no matter how bad you think your starting off - your starting off!!! i would just listen to your body, no need to start off running & get an injury that may sideline your exercise efforts. congrats to you!

    so i was a slug tues - thurs:rolleyes2:

yesterday - spin class / 20 min walk on treadmill

    today - going mountain biking

    tomorrow - round of golf

    & that's may:!!!:

Thank you! I needed that. I walked .5 mile this morning and it kicked my butt! It was easier on Thursday and I hurt more today. This may be harder than I thought but I'm still going.

Good job on your exercise! An inspiration. I love the variety.

  6. I just started the couch to 5k on Tuesday. As it turns out I'm not even ready for the starting point they give but I'm working up to it. I walked for 10 minutes my first day and did .4 mile for almost 20 min yesterday. Tomorrow I will walk for 20 min. Next week I'll start jogging.

My goal is to get to walk a 5k in three weeks but I'm not sure if that's realistic. I figure I'll at least walk as far as I can-- maybe a "special k". LOL!

Has anyone here started off this bad? Is it easier to walk or alternate walking and jogging? I'm 330lbs and it hurts just to walk for 5 min straight. This is a big deal for me.

  7. I won't bore you with the details of my band and life complications. What's important is that I'm making a fresh start as of today. I started out almost 2 years ago with more than 200lbs to lose. I'm currently at 330lbs and have a long way to go.

    1. I need to post here regularly for support. (I don't have access to a local support group)

    2. I need to journal my food intake and stick with the bandster rules. (I manage to do that when I journal)

    3. EXERCISE! I am doing the Couch to 5k. I will be walking a 5k in 3 weeks and running in the Race for the Cure 5k in Sept.

I got out in the rain, with a head cold, this morning and managed to walk for 10 min. Thursday morning I will go at least 15 but I'm shooting for 20.

Here's to me and my fresh start. Thank god the band is for life!

  8. I just want to encouarge you all that have alot to lose.

I lost 170 in the first 12 or so months and then it slowed down a bit but im still going strong and looking for my goal!

I exersised the whole time 5-6 days a week. I even started running when i was at 340LBS or so.

YOu can do it. I wasnt PERFECT but i kept pushing myself.

Hopefully i can be at goal at the end of the summer.

Thank you for posting! I needed to hear that. It gives me hope.

    Congratulations!
