  1. Not sleeved yet. But I am hoping I don't eat that much at 4 weeks out. I would be afraid to be eating as pre op before I knew it.

My normal days are different...this was my vacation with my husband. Today I had a scrambled egg for Breakfast, 3 oz of boiled shrimp for lunch and half of a chicken burger patty (ground chicken breast and seasonings I made myself!) with a tablespoon of guacamole.

Most days I eat some form of fish.....I try to get my 60-70g of Protein a day. What do you see a normal day for you after surgery?

  2. I have thick skin - so what some people may consider "negative" comments don't bother me ;)

If you look at what I actually consumed in the 2 days there, it isn't bad...

I DESCRIBED alot of food, but what went into my mouth was:

ONE crispy corn taco with about an ounce of finely ground (not greasy) beef and an ounce of shredded cheese and one bite of a bean and cheese nacho.

ONE meatball (2-3 oz) that unfortunately had some bread mixed into it (I did not eat ANY of the noodles or saurkraut)

About 3 oz of Quiche made from eggs, cheese, spinach, carrots and Tomato - none of the crust

1 and a half of the egg roll ruebens that equaled about 3-4 oz.

    I drank lots of Water.

    I walk A LOT!

    I lost 2 pounds.

The point of my post was to show actual, real food I had to make decisions about - and I am happy with.

My surgery date was July 2nd - I am free and clear on my diet. I have not thrown up once, had any nausea after the 3rd day post - op, and have healed wonderfully.

I have had zero pain - but can feel a cramping like sensation when I am full.

I am extremely thankful for this board, and I welcome any/all questions. It has been a life saver for me - literally! I would not have had the surgery without it.

    :)

  3. I am about where you are and "stalled at week 3 - for 7 days!! Then started down again. I just try and do what I am supposed to - hit my Protein goal and drink lots of water! I think I am like you - and just can't believe I will be successful! I feel so much better, I tell myself I would do it again just to get where I am today!! That little self talk helps relieve my anxiety - and then when I start going down again - BONUS! I have no idea where this journey is going to take me (weight wise) - but I consider it the best gift I have ever given myself and am very thankful!

  4. I am just back from a day night date with my hubby!! We went to Fredricksburg, TX for some fun, relaxation, shopping and FOOD! I was really worried how this was going to go....

First day there - we went to Mamacita's for lunch. He ordered the crispy taco plate and been and cheese nachos. I ate one taco (shredded beef and cheese with hotsauce) and half of a nacho! It was wonderful, tasty and I was stuffed! He ate the rest plus 2 beers and several beautiful home made tortillas!!

For dinner - we went to a great German restaruant - and he had the Schnitzel Kase, and I was dismayed to see very little I could eat. I settle on the Klopse meat balls (beef and pork) and of course it came with a huge pile of buttered noodles and saurkraut. The meat balls were in a caper dill sauce - and there were 2 about 3 oz each - so I plopped the other on his plate and set in. Big problem - the meat ball had a lot of bread filling in it. I ate about 3/4 of it - and could feel it EXPAND in my belly. Luckily, we did a lot of walking afterwards, and 30 min. after - I started back with my Water - so no pain!

We slept in the next day, so hit town about 11. He had a hpme made burger plate - I had half an order of quiche Lorraine - yum! Dinner that night was another German place - he had schnitzel, I had an appetizer called German Rueben rolls. Basically, 2 egg rolls made with corned beef, swiss cheese and saurkraut - with thousand island dipping sause! I ate almost all of it - super good!

We did buy some Amish cheese we snacked on in our B&B that night, and I feel like I really didn't miss out on the food end....and don't feel bad about myself. I know I probably didn't hit my 60g of Protein, but I will be back on track tomorrow and have fish and shrimp thawing in my sink!

I was really worried about the "enjoying" food aspect after this surgery. I have to pay more attention, but do not feel deprived at all. I am so thankful!!!!

  5. I love cooking shows! My husband calls it food porn ;) Regardless, I get great ideas, then tweak them to be what I like. I will be the first to tell you I am NOT a foo foo cook (I love to watch it, but have you priced saffron threads??) Anyway - I don't even cook with raw onion or shallots - I use the ground up stuff from my spice cabinet....and no one has complained yet...and it simplifies my life....

So on with my latest and greatest!

    Preheat oven to 350

Spray your muffin tin - I have a 6 cup tin that works great for this - regular size muffins...

    In a bowl mix

1 small container ricotta (I used part skim)

1 small container cottage cheese (drain moisture off - I use paper towels, use a cheese cloth if you have one)

    half cup mozzerella

half cup of the REAL shredded parmesan - not the white powder out of a can (see - I can be a food snob!)

I package of minced spinach (I used the steam in a bag stuff from HEB, then SQUEEZED the heck out of it with paper towels!)

    1 large egg yolk

    some onion salt

    garlic powder

    Mix well

Spoon into muffin tin, top with some provolone (I love cheese! - can be mozzerella if you want)

Bake for about 35 minutes - watch you cheese on top - no burning!!

Let set for about 7 minutes and enjoy!

I am almost a month out of surgery and eat almost a full muffin tin - but not quite -

    So yummy!

I know someone smarter than me will plug it into your online doomahickie and tell me the Protein and calories...each portion is about 4 oz. I did have some mix left over.....my dog loved it too!

    Enjoy!

  6. I am not even a full month out (surgery was July 2nd) and I am down like 23 pounds from day of surgery. My clothes are fitting loose and I have soooo much more energy. I am already noticing my confidence returning...and my adventurous nature! The other day, I DIVED off a diving board - 3 times! My children have NEVER sen me do this! They loved it - and so did I!!! Also - we went to the movies, and my butt fit in the chair! My husband - who is 100% supportive and never made me feel less than sexy - is astounded! He is gone 2 weeks at a time - so he sees bigger changes than I do in the day to day functioning.......

I am excited...I haven't lost much in the last week and a half, but I have faith. food is not controlling my life, yet I enjoy SMALL portions of really good food that is good for me! I am hitting 60g of Protein a day - thank God I love fish!!

  7. I think I am doing especially well 21 days post op! I am down to 271 this morning - after staying at 273 for a week!!! I am eating 3 oz of fish, shrimp, crab or lunchmeat and cheese 3 times a day - so I am getting 60 oz of Protein a day. I drink 2 G2 20 floz of grape gatorade, with Water in between. I am shedding some hair.... :( But I have lots and lots of hair - so I think I will be okay. I have not had any fatigue - I have 6 kids at my house this week for my annual Camp Shannie - so bowling, swimming, beach, and movies haven't slowed me down any. I have not puked once nor had any significant pain...just a VERY full feeling after 3 oz. I have a hard time NOT drinking for 30 minutes after I eat though.......

My lower back is sore - I think it is the sudden loss of weight. Like after a pregnancy....looking forward to getting the first massage of my life (professional one!). I also jumped off the diving board - several times - for the first time in over a decade!!

Life is good friends - those that are not as far out as me - have hope! It does get better!!!!!

  8. Girl - I am right there with you!! I am constantly stretching my back - I even asked my doc about going to a chiropractor! He said no- go get a massage!! But I remember my back hurting more AFTER delivering my 3 girls....the weight is gone so quick, your body has to readjust......let me know if you find anything else that works!!!

  9. I was sleeved July 2nd - down 34 pounds from the last day of school. I teach 4th grade science in a small south Texas school - and I love where I work. They are extended family. My team (5 other fantastic teachers) are 100% supportive of me and have called to check on me since my surgery. I have no problem telling people. I weighed my options for several years before making this commitment, and I plan on being an advocate of people making THEIR choice for weight loss. The haters can hate, but it was never about them........ I am happier than ever! It has been over 6 years since I was in the 270's.....and I am looking forward to the 260's, then the 250's, and so on.....

At 5'9 - my face is showing the most change, so I am happy that I will still get some mileage on my wardrobe (lots of dresses) -

Yay to us - and if you choose not to tell, great for you too -

    It was OUR choice!

  10. Went to the Dr. today - I have lost 20 pounds so far and dropped my BMI 5%. He says I am doing fantastic, my incisions are completely healed and I have permission to submerge! Here I come Beach, pool and rivers...it's just not a summer in Texas without floating down the river a few times!!

    My concerns were this:

1.) I haven't lost any weight at ALL in 4 days. He says to put away my scale, I say no way! He said hide it, I said I am sorry, but no!

2.) My heart felt like it was thudding out of my chest the other night - very strange. It was like every 4th or 5th beat, it would pound hard. It isn't doing it now, and no pain - he says sometimes your esophagus can spasm...but I said there was no pain...he said strange, let me know if it happens again. He also asked about my Fluid intake - I am good, and drink 24 oz of G2 gatorade to keep my electrolytes good.....so we shall see....

3.) My muscles are achy - like I worked out hard. Stiffer in the mornings, better as the day goes...but still sore. I have been BUSY - lots of running around, errands, kid stuff, but no "working out". He said very rarely, the anesthesia they use, particularly the stuff that paralyzes your muscles, takes a LONG time to get out of your system. This could explain why I pretty much had NO pain after surgery and could sleep in my bed as soon as I came home with no discomfort or pain meds....I pay for it now :( Anyway, he says it should subside.....

That was about it. Still no lifting - can go walking or do cardio. No tough meats or veggies until 6 weeks out - no problem, loving my fish!! I told him his shakes blow, and that I will be thrilled to never HAVE to drink a meal again! Of course - I do have some Muscle Milk in the fridge for when I HAVE to grab something on the way out the door. I am really trying to hit my 60-70g of Protein a day. I don't want to be a flabby bag of skin!!

My back bothers me - but when I asked about a chiropractor, he said NO! I didn't need to be twisted and contorted yet (I have never been to one). He said to treat myself to a massage - and that it would be better and cheaper! I will have to tell hubby this ;)

ANyway - feeling great elsewise....no fatigue, in a good mood. Looking forward to more pounds dropping......

  11. My 20 year reunion is in the plans for next July.....I am THRILLED to have just had this surgery - I will be SPECTACULAR and FIERCE by next summer!!! I did attend my 10 year.....at about 285 and a size 22....I am so looking forward to seeing all my old buddies again...even if I have most of them on facebook!

  12. It ended up making 5 patties (because of the added ingredients to the mixture)......I am surprised the carbs were that high - with 5 crackers, I figured about 1 cracker per pattie.......no carbs anywhere else.....

Anyway......very good, glad you liked it - and I am sure shrimp or a white fish would be great as well!

  13. Y'all - I survived my 2 weeks post op with the food network channel!! I know it sounds weird, but it really seemed to help. Now I have all these ideas for making savory, high Protein meals...

I know the crackers aren't low carb - but the 4 aren't terrible when divided into about 5 patties......but you need a binder with the egg.....

Let me know how you like it...

I am looking forward to some of the ricotta cups, but I am sad that eggs are so low protein.....with a small tummy, I really want to hit my 60-70g of protein a day...and eggs won't cut it because I can't eat 3 of them!!!!

I am thinking a tuna salad is in my future!! But the crab cakes are great for a hot meal!! :)

  14. Hello -

I was sleeved July 2nd and have been SOOO looking forward to some soft foods. I made this and ate one for Breakfast today!! Who says you can't have crab for breakfast?! :) My goal is 60-70g of Protein a day, and if I can do that without drinking a shake - I am all for it!

1 can/jar fresh picked crab (mine was 12 oz) HEB Plus carries some good stuff!

    1 egg

    2 TBLSP Cream cheese

    1/4 C. fresh SHREDDED parmesan

    4 Ritz crackers

    1 tsp. Old Bay spice

    1/2 tsp onion powder

1 tsp Cayenne Pepper (I like spicy - leave out if you don't!!)

Mix together - weigh out 3 oz portions

heat a TINY bit of olive oil i a pan, put crab into pan, flatten out and let sizzle - about 3-4 minutes on medium, then flip for another 3-4 minutes.

    Sauce:

    I cup sour cream

i small/medium avacado - add into sour cream

1/4 cup diced cilantro (leave out if you are one of those unfortunate souls that doesn't like it!)

    juice of one lime

(can even add some capers if you like)

Serve on side of your crabby Pattie - I can eat about 3/4 of one patty - and I am hitting about 22g of protein -

    YUM!!!!

  15. Every single person is different! I am 12 days post op today - and have felt GREAT the whole time. My surgeon wants me on full liquids for two weeks, then soft foods for 4 weeks.....needless to say, I CAN"T wait to have SOMETHING to chew!! I feel your pain! I think days 6-11 were really hard...not as bad today. SOmething I did - and yes it is a cheat, but is satisfied me without a lot of guilt! I took an ounce of hard parmesan and nibbled on it for an extended period. I figured it would be like cheese soup!! It gave me something to "chew", had bold flavor, and isn't bad for you....just a little early progression.....

I hope the rest of your days are a little easier, I know each day is easier for me....God Bless!
