I second the tickers that show both the metric and the imperial measurments. I get soo confused when i read posts from people in countries with the metric system and its annoying to have to go and do the conversions.

Yup soo true my mom, dad, and nana make comments about my weight and my sisters weight at least once a day. My sister is now going out with a real loser and my parent don't understand why. Even when i tell them well maybe she would break up with him if you stop saying she will never get a man at her weight. It's pathetic that they needed to do a study to prove this point but seriously even if my parents read this article they still wouldn't believe it. I think that they honestly think they are helping. As crazy as that seems, maybe i just think this because after every comment they say well i only tell you because i love you. you know what as i am writing that i see how f***ed up that is. If they loved me then why do they say such hurtful things. yea parents should just be supportive.

Oh man Mert I am so sorry about your brothers. Do they know how much they are upsetting you? The thing that i love about my brother is that he knows how much comments about my weight hurt me so he never says anything like that, even when we fight. Perhaps if you speak to your brothers or let them see you cry they will understand that those comments are compltly off limits to be used under no circumstances. If they still make comments i would say not to speak with them for awhile then try again in a while and see if they learned their lesson. Oh do they know that you are going for the lap band? Perhaps if they knew that you are trying to lose weight they will lessen up. Goodluck.

Forget that guy. I wouldn't contact him again, it was immature of him to just stop communicating with you like that. WOW texas you lost 97 pounds thats amazing!!!! Congrats!! It will prob. take a while for you to relize how great you look now but when you do it will be amazing. My sister recently lost 50 pounds and she could not really tell the difference between the old her and the new her so we got some old and new pics side by side and then she could see it and she couldn't be happier. Hey everyone So today i had my psych vist and i'm kinda nervous about it. You see the doc asked if my family was generally heavy and i said yes so she was like so you picked up their bad eating habits. well when i talked to my mom she got a little upset because she is not big nor is my dad or my brother. But my sister, uncles, aunts, and half of my cousins are and i thought the doc was talking about my family in general , which for me includes the extended family but my mom thinks she just ment the immediate family. Well now i am worried that the shrink will write in her report family history and that the surgon & my pcp will say no family history. I think i am just being paranoid now i could use your advice what do you think she meant and do you think it really matters? Thanks everyone

It's was so weird i only spent 10 mins with the shrink, it seemed like such a waste of money/time to me. The section of the hospital was soo old, dingy and scary, it was like right cuz i already don't feel bad enough about having to come here. When i first walked in she was like we require this of everyone who is doing elective surgery, is that true? i never thought you needed a psych eval for cosmetic surgery.

There is a small small possibility of awakening during surgery but rest assure most general anesthesia goes on without a hitch and gsp princess story doesn’t match up with the way general anesthesia is preformed. General Anesthesia takes three parts: unconsciousness, the inability to move, and the inability to feel pain. So in princess story the anesthesia failed in all three parts. That is highly unlikely. In most cases when a person “wakes up” they only regain consciousness they are unable to move and they are unable to feel. She said that she tried to touch the surgeons scrubs well if she could move the surgeons would notice a difference in the her muscles both in the abdomen and in the body as a whole, the muscles would go from completely relaxed to tense and they would immediately stop the surgery and check the anesthesia levels. Princess seems to be using a scare tatic and given the fact that she has not come back online and posted makes her even more suspect.

Congrats on your weightloss and good luck when it comes time to banding. I just have a few questions you said you were in the ICU was this for another condition or to lose weight? I have been doing some reserch on lasix and it says Lasix treats Fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or a kidney disorder such as nephrotic syndrome. Lasix is also used to treat high high blood pressure did you have any of these that resulted in the ICU vist or the use of lasix. Also you were subconscious for the first week this seems highly unusual did they put you under or was it some sort of complication? Which hospital were you in I am interested in trying to see if they are doing reserch or if this is standard protocol for them. Thanks for answering these questions.

The same thing happened to me. I have no clue why it would happen. I'm glad i came across this thread because i thought people were doing it on purpose. =(

Hi Brandi, I just went to a seminar at brigham and womens the other week and some one asked that qustion, the Dr. said that Brighams will not do fills for people that had thier surgery done in mexico because the mexico docs usually do not provide the patients with clear surgical/ pre and post op notes and that it would be too much of a risk for them to do fills with out the proper documentation. I don't know about other hospitals but when you get your surgery done make sure you get enough documentation. Good Luck

I don't understand people who ridicule others at all! I would never comment on another person's flaws but it seems like if you are big your an open target. I don't understand the argument that obesity affects everyone because it raises the cost of health insurance well it may be true but doesn’t everything raise the cost of health insurance including drinking, smoking, and any and every kind of illness. And just like every other kind of illness we did not choose to be obese, because who in their right mind would choose it. And I hate the argument that all fat people are lazy and have no self control. Why is it that people have sympathy for drug addicts and alcoholics and do not blame their vices on them while if you are fat you automatically have no self control? It makes no sense to me. If anything it seems like it would be easier to be an alcoholic because once you quit drinking you never have to drink again we can't quit food it is there everyday taunting us. Jeeze sorry I am kind of rambling here I was looking online for info about exercise for big people and I came across all these anti-obesity web pages, I shouldn't have looked but I couldn't resist and now I’m angry. I would have to go with Donna, gain the ten pounds then right after your first surgons app. you can go on a diet to lose it. The idea to wear weights would not work if the doctor requires you to change into a gown before weighing you. It seems so backwards that you have to gain weight so you can lose weight but that is the case. the only thing is don't get carried away and oh another idea would be to do some strength training since muscle weigh more than fat but it would prob. be easier to just gain the weight. I had an ovarian cyst soooo painful, it was even worse when it ruptured. Man just thinking about it makes me cringe. I don't have PCOS but i do have endometriosis, if your periods are really painful ask your ob/gyn about it.

Yoda i feel ya today it was in the 90's but tomorrow they say its going to be in the 100's but feel like 115 i can't wait till winter.

People can be soo cruel! It's so sad but it is actually hard for me to pick a fat moment that was the worst, there has been so many. =( This one ranks right up there though so my cousin (who is also big) came up for a dinner out with my family. Before my cousin got there it was decided that we would take two cars so we wouldn't have to be squashed in the back (Both my sister and I are big) When it was time to go to the resturant my nana declares that we would be taking two cars because me and my sister are too fat. I was horrified how could someone i love be so cruel. What made it worse was that my cousin is bigger than both me or my sister so she must have been embarassed too. Another thing that really cuts deep is that my dad will take me shopping but then refuse to go into plus size sections or plus size stores he tell me i don't go into places like that, he says it with such disgust in his voice that it is just overwelming. Then when we go into "normal" stores he makes comments like don't you wish you could shop here. Needless to say I tend to avoid shopping with my dad. Yup I can't wait to be banded.

Nana none of those diet pills work if they did we would not have to have the lap band. If you need an energy boost try something made for energy as it will most likely work better and cost less. Good luck on your quest!

I used to hate to exercise then i found the most amazing gym. It's Healthworks fitness center for women. They have tv's on all the machines and the locker room is more like a spa. Maybe if you found someplace that you enjoy and feel comfortable it will be easier to exercie and you will come to enjoy it.
