I'll try the book. Thanks. It's funny my sister went to an all girls high school and college so she hasn't had any real boyfriends until now. It's almost like she is going through that teenage thing of having a bad boyfriend because every time we say something to her about him she gets really defensive and yells at us that we don't want her to be happy. She loves to read so hopefully the book will be good.

I am so sorry that this is happening to you. It is a very nasty thing for the hospital to do and i must say that i am surprised that they are shutting the program down, the lap band makes so much money for hospitals. I wish you the best of luck.

This is a fun poll. Ok so i put Within reason MSO's weight isn't an issue for me. But i must say i find myself attracted to thinner guys but i feel too uncomfortable being with them. Yeah i gotta go work on my self esteem. LoL But on the other side i find that bigger people are more caring. And yeah it does sound like she dosn't like people that like her.

I actually gained alot of weight when i went off the BCP. I was on it for 2 yrs. It was very upsetting, i want to go back on it but my BP gets too high. =(

Hi Sueol, i am just begining the process as well. I have tufts health plan. I am not sure how long the process will take but let me tell ya getting an app. is hard. i called the day after the seminar (somewhere around july 28) and they said the earliest app. was for oct. 28. The meeting is a breeze but i would get there early because the seats fill up. Goodluck!!

I'm still at my first job. I work at CVS pharmacy. i have been there since i was 14, so a little over 5 yrs. I am starting a new job though as an OR cordinator at the local hosp. I can't wait to quit CVS but i think i'm gonna keep both jobs for like a month to see if i like the new one then quit CVS. My boss will be soo surprised because he thinks i will stay there while i am in college, in fact he just offered me a promotion but i am soo ready to move on.

My insurance paid for it. i don't know why they would exclude WLS psych evals when it is required for them to apporve the surgery. But then again alot of things that the insurance compaines do don't make alot of sense.

My mom and my sister know already. It's just my dad that i am going to tell a few days before the surgery. I plan on having the surgery done in late dec. early Jan and if i tell him now, he will tell everyone he knows. I know they keep you overnight after the surgery is that what you are talking about? or do they keep you overnight to do some sort of testing before that. Good luck with your band!

NewSho that's terrible. Did your reg. doc say he was going to speak to the replacment doc? What the replacement doc did was completly unethical. I am so sorry that he did that to you. I hope you get the right restriction soon.

Hi Caroline, I am in the process with Dr. Vernon and her office. So far i have just had the psych eval. I meet with Dr. Vernon on Sep 22 at the falknur. I am just curious about the waiting rooms at either/both hospitals (whatever you had experience with) This is going to sound random but do they have all WLS panhlets everywhere, my dad is going to be giving me a ride and i haven't told him yet. So i want to know if i should give him some money and have him go to the caf. I will tell my dad but not until closer to my surgery date he is a real blabber mouth and i don't want the whole world to know yet. Thanks

meyor it seems more resonable that you had congestive heart failure with pulmonary edema than sleep apena and fluid retention. Once again the CPAP machine does not pump O2 it pumps normal air. If you had O2 you were not on the CPAP machine.

My vist with the shrink lasted 10 mins. Before i talked with her i had to fill out a few forms. She asked about my health, education, and family history. She asked me how i felt about my weight then asked me a few cognative questions. Where were u born. Who were the last 3 presidents. 100-7, and she asked me to say the months backwards starting with dec. That was the hardest part. So it really is no sweat. At the end she said i was a lovely girl with not alot of psychological issues. Which i found hillarious and we both had a laugh about. She then wished me good luck with the weight loss. So i guess i passed. The worst part of the vist is waiting for ot to come.

The CPAP machime does not pump pure oxygen, it pumps regular air. The same that you breath during the day. With sleep apena you stop breathing periodically throughout the night. The CPAP machine forces the air into your lungs. Therefor the results of a CPAP machine is a better night rest and waking up more alert. The CPAP would not cause a sudden increase in your oxygen levels as it pupms regular air, it tries to maintain the level of oxygen that you have throughout the day. Now pure oxygen does act like a drug and if you "overdose" on it the resulting condition is Pulmonary Oxygen Toxicity. This happens when someone is exposed to high oxygen levels for over 16 hours in pressures of 0.5 bar or more. Symptoms begin with a substernal irritation that becomes progressively worse and is accompanied by an increasingly uncontrollable cough. The patient may experience tracheal or bronchial burning, that worsens during inspiration. Lung damage is sometimes irreversible. Ok me again do you know the medical term for the high water content in cells. I am a nursing student so i am fascinated by this stuff. Also what does the UKM stand for in the hospitals name. Oh and did those neighboring patients die from weight loss or from something else. Either way that must have been scary. And why were you so weak? Thanks again.

Hi Linda, I go to Brigham and womens hospital and they said they do not do fills on patients that had their band placed outside the US. i thought i save you one phone call. Good luck finding someone, maybe the smaller hospitals would be less strict.

Tufts health plan is good. But check out all the sites of the compaines you are looking into. Obesityhelp.com has a section on insurance, you should check it out. Goodluck!
