plateaued for the last few months
forabetterlife replied to kelbelle29's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I believe I have seen you post something similiar to this before and like everyone said before you cannot flush fat out of your system. More Water helps all of your organs wokr the way they are suppose to lol but you cant flush the fat away or everyone would be drinking 20 bottles of water a day. -
No restriction after first fill
forabetterlife replied to Tammartin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Some people go without a fill at all and have restriction. I have a 10cc band with 7.2 cc in it and I dont have much restriction at all but when they put 7.5 cc it was too tight I couldnt even swallow my siliva so its different for everyone. -

Worried they won't give me second fill
forabetterlife replied to nu2ywg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor just goes by my hungar if I call and tell them I am hungry all the time and feel like I have no restriction they trust that I am right and they get me right in for a fill. then again if I call and tell them I am too tight they remove some but for the most part they leave it up to me to decide. The only requirement is that I wait at least 2 weeks in between fills unless I am too tight. -
Your favorite tricks & tips for eating out
forabetterlife replied to LargeMediumSmall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I go out we usually go to Longhorn or applebees which both have a huge selection. Applebees has the weigh watchers points and calories so I look at that. I got steak, broccoli, and roasted potatoes there and it was 380 calories (not bad at a restaurant) I couldnt even finish it all so ended up with lunch for the next day. Longhorn I love the steaks so I order off the kids menu, which you get 2 sides so I just get double broccoli or other available veggie to stay away from the carbs, There is always a way to eat semi healthy when you go out to dinner just think about it before you order and dont go back to old habits -
If you dont think its too good to be true and you believe it will work then why bother asking about it?

Any way to avoid protein drinks all together?
forabetterlife replied to Ponderer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nope I dont believe you can avoid them all together unless you want to starve after surgery. If you dont get Protein and take your Vitamins your hair will start falling out trust me watched it happen to my cousin becuase she didnt drink Protein shakes after surgery becuase she didnt like them. I had a hard time at the beginning trying to find one I like but I did find one that taste just like chocolate milk and does not have the chalky texture to it. Carnation Instant Breakfast - sugar free mix with 8oz of skim milk comes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry -
How long did it take you to receive the results from your Psych Eval?
forabetterlife replied to HopefulOne!!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to my appt for my psych eval and talked with her and answered questions for about 35 minutes and she said right then and there that she was going to approve me becuase she had no concerns. -
Does this happen
forabetterlife replied to shanrich96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through the same thing but I had never had heart burn before so I got really worried and found out it was Acid Reflux. I called my doctor and they suggested not eating anything 1-2 hours before bed so I tried that and it didnt work but I knew it was reflux because if I took a drink of water it would go away so for 3 weeks I kept a cup of water beside my bed so if it happen I could have access to a drink because it hurt bad. I went to the doctor again and he said try 3 hours instead of 1-2 I have stuck to that for the last month and had no problems at all. -
How long after surgery consult was your surgery scheduled?
forabetterlife replied to thingirlinside's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my pre op consult on May 5th 2009 and surgery June 16th 2009 so within a month or so depends on insurance requirements. -

Ugh I did it again!
forabetterlife replied to Pinkygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its good that you recognize that you eat and swallow the first few bites of food to fast so just keep that in mind and try to remember to slow down and chew VERY well. -
Bummed i have only lost 25 pounds in 3 yrs
forabetterlife replied to HAGS2121's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have gone through a little of the same situation. I was banded June 2009 and lost alot the first year then stalled. I got a fill but it was too tight I couldnt even swallow water, had an unfill brought me back down to not feeling any restriction went back in for a fill a month later because I was on a plateau at the SAME weight for a while now I have some restriction but think I need a very small fill to get me to my swwet spot and hopefully that will get me moving again. -
Where do I get a restaurant card?
forabetterlife replied to rhya2k's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got mine from lapband.com when I signed up for my landband.com journey. You put your information in and they send you a card in the mail. https://www.lapband.com/en/mylapband/my_profile/idcard/ it asks for a temporary ID # but it says if you dont have it to call them and press option 6 and answer questions about your surgery and they will send you one. -

Banded yesterday! Have questions...
forabetterlife replied to The invisible woman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As for the migrane medication you should be ok as long as its not an NSAID medication then you should NOT take it becuase it can cause ulsers in your pouch. As for the blood it is totally normal I have talked to many others about this, I had dried blood when I took my bandages off and freaked out but the nurse said its normal dont worry. Congrats on being banded welcome to our world. -
Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
forabetterlife replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ok here we go..... hahaha June 16th 2009 I was scheduled for surgery at 12:30 in the afternoon. I went into the hospital at 11:30 with my husband he of course stayed with me as long as he could. They brought me into a small room took all my vitals, had me change into an ugly gown, put some ugly slippers on my feet and started an iv.... the doctor came in a few minutes later and talked to me about the process and I of course started crying really bad, telling my husband I didnt want this anymore to just take me home. He told me that he wasnt taking me home becuase he knew I really did want this but I was just scared. Next thing I know I was waking up in the recovery room. When I woke up I felt like I was gasping for air so insisted that the nurse let me use my inhaler which she did to shut me up. I laid there about an hour then got up to walk around. At 4:30 I was half way home walked into the pharmacy with my husband to get my meds and sleep the rest of the evening away. -

Has anyone ever tried the pre op diet to get back on track?
forabetterlife posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hey everyone I am off track on dieting and losing weight and need to get back on track. I have heard that some people go back on the 2 week pre op diet to get themselfs back on track. Have you tried this? Did it get you back on track/ Did you lose weight? if so how much? Just trying to figure out if this is what I need to do. Thanks! -
Doctor could not locate the center of port
forabetterlife replied to dre's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah sorry but I have to disagree with Acadia as well. My doctors office does EVERYONE'S "blind" as you call it unless they are having trouble finding the port. If you go in and they find it no problem they give the fill. Maybe thats why so many people on here complain that fills are too expensive because their doctors do it under xray which can be costly when in all reality they could just do it "blind" and cost 1/4 of the amount it does under xray. Anyway I have mine done "blind" everytime and have had no problems along with the over 300 patients that go to my doctors office.
