At what point did you start getting excited about your weight loss?

My surgery was on July 10th. I have lost 40 lbs. Basically I hit the weight I can get to on my own. It's funny you asked this question because my boss at work asked me if I was excited about the weight loss. I kind of shrugged my shoulders. She said, 'is it not fast enough for you?' It's not that. I don't want to get so excited I start to sabotage myself like I always do at this weight. Honestly, I think once I get past this weight and get down to a weight I previously haven't been able to get to on my own, I will be excited. -
Happy Labor Day everyone! I had to work today so that should have kept me from eating. It didn't because I had to put out a luncheon for my co-workers. We served sub sandwiches, chips, dips, brownies, Cookies etc for 100 people. B: cherry carbmaster yogurt with a quarter of sliced banana L: half cup turkey chili with Beans with cheese and sour cream Nibbled on: about 15 potato chips (spread throughout day) and half a choc chip cookie D: the innards of 3 pork potstickers (from Trader Joe's) and a couple bites of the outtards, 2 slivers mandarin orange Part of me feels like I shouldn't have had the chips and half cookie but I really enjoyed it. And, after I got home TOM arrived. So that explains the lack of will power a bit. I refuse to feel guilt and will just move on. Water: :thumbup: (was too busy eating chips) Exercise: marching my ass up and down the stairs checking on the food levels all damn day!!!!

Wow! Just rec'd the bill from the Hospital...

My total bill for the hospital came to $26,680. My insurance allowable was $12,200 so they had to write the difference off. I had to pay 10% of allowable so I paid $1,220. I still owe the anesthesiologist $118.00 (he hasn't billed me yet, I only know the amount from my insurance statement) And my insurance is duking it out with the psychologist. He is charging $900 for 2 written tests and 20 minutes of talk time. Problem is, he is charging the same code for the two tests so my insurance wants proof he isn't double billing. <sigh> -
Congrats Amy! I lost 3.6 lbs this week. I made my Labor Day goal and I am well on my way to my Turkey Day goal!!

Somehow I lost 3.6 lbs this week. It's so strange how our bodies give up weight. Sometimes nothing at all when we expect something and sometimes a whoosh. So I am officially in ONEderland. And I made my labor day goal! Onto the Turkey Day Challenge. Hope to see you there! -

Hi Tracy! Nice to see another post! What is Zaxby? Is that a restaurant? Today I had: B: strawberry carbmaster yogurt with half sliced banana L: half of left over piece of tilapia from last night and 2 bites of canned peaches S: ate lunch really early so I got home and was hungry so I had a few bites of a meatball D: half of a meatball with sauce and sauteed zucchini with salt, pepper and fresh parmesan cheese (YUM!) Water: better today! Exercise: gonna get on the wii fit, I think.

Saturday- cleaning and laundry day. B: two bites of chicken salad L: 3 club crackers with 3 T. chicken salad S: one-twelfth of a hershey bar (seriously a sliver while I made smores for the kids) D: homemade fish taco - had a few bites with the tortilla and then pulled the fish out. This was soooooooooo delish! Never made them before and they came out great! My 8 year old boys LOVED them. Water: so-so Exercise: CLEANING!

Is everyone pretty much back on regular food now? I was given 'permission' for regular food at 1 month post op. I can basically eat anything now. But I haven't. I am scared to try some things. I haven't had a salad yet. Or any raw vegetable for that matter. I am still sticking to stuff I know I can eat. Most days lunch is about a quarter cup chicken salad and a couple bites of fruit. I am enjoying all the food I am eating, I am not bored with it. But I feel like I am still too chicken to try some new things. I did make a meatloaf the other night and it was SO GOOD! I made sure it was super moist and I ate about a half thin slice. And I did have an old nutrisystem entree (lasagna with meat sauce) and it went down fine. That was my favorite dinner so I saved a few! I only ate a quarter of it. I served myself half and then couldn't eat it all. That is about the most adventurous I have been. How about everyone else??? Are you all much braver than I am?

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! I don't remember what I ate yesterday. I think I am going senile. :sneaky: But today I had: B: unjury chocolate shake with milk and 1 T. pb L: starbucks tall iced caramel macchiato S: 3 club crackers with 3 T. chicken salad D: half a trader joe's personal size quiche mexicaine (without any of the pastry) Not a terribly great day for food intake. Where are the veggies? And I don't normally have a coffee drink for lunch but I met some friends at starbucks so... there it is. Water: not good but better than yesterday Exercise: what is that? I really need to find out!

Ok! I have GOT to get this Water thing figured out! I think I drank about 20 oz today and that just is NOT good! I don't know what my problem is! It's like I forget to drink when I am allowed to. I want to drink when I can't... and I don't but this is driving me crazy!!! Very frustrated with myself! And today was the first day I have actually snacked. Today was really the first day I wanted food. I am making it sound worse than it was. They had a meeting today and served pita chips and hummus. I have never had hummus so I wanted to try it. I had a pita chip the size of a quarter and some hummus on it. (yum, btw!) Then I came home and had a bite of chicken salad. So it was literally 2 bites of food I should not have had so the world isn't going to collapse but still... LOL So I am thinking of doing a food log thingie thread on here. Kind of like the one on the food thread. I would like to see what my fellow 'july' peeps are eating.

Hi everyone! Another week has gone by. I weigh daily. Basically, I step on the scale and look at the number and just say, 'ok' Good or bad, it's 'ok'. What I have noticed about the last couple of weeks is that I weigh the same for like 5 days and then on the 6th and then weigh in day, the scale moves. Weird. This week was mostly an experiment on what I could eat. I found out I could eat my egg on a piece of wheat toast. (had half a slice) I also found out I could eat a thin slice of pizza. (had half slice of pizza) I am happy with that. Tomorrow, I am going to try a little rotini pasta- the wheat blend. I will mash up mostly meatball and sauce and a little pasta. We'll see how it goes! Anyhoo, Last week's weight- 204.4 Today's weight- 203.00 -1.4 lbs this week. -

I am!!! But I am trying really hard not to! Obsessing over the scale makes it seem like every other stupid diet, ya know? I should really use you as inspiration and actually START exercising! I am so bad about that.... and I still haven't gotten all my water in. So I know I could definately improve in some areas. When I had been successful with nutrisystem, I got down to 194 so I can't wait to get there. It's almost like two goals.. get back to where I was and then get on with the business of getting to goal. WE CAN DO THIS!!! -

Hi everyone! It looks like everyone is doing so great! Even 1 lb lost consistently is GREAT! I am minus 1.8 lbs this week. Same as last week! Surgery weight 226.50 Last week weight 206.2 Today weight 204.4 Can't wait for ONEderland! I was shooting for Labor Day but not sure if I will make it at... oh well.. it's not a race... it's not a race... LOL! -

I am wondering how many of you are journaling your food. Why or why not? My program recommended it but didn't say I had to. I haven't been and I am wondering if I should. If you are keeping track are you doing it on the computer? On paper? Just curious!

Darn vacation..and darn that i'm eating too much i guess. Not of the wrong foods, just to much of the allowed foods I guess. I was at a 31 lb loss...now only 28.1. Sucks! Hang in there, Bobbie! It does suck but this is a lifetime solution... not a quick fix! (I am telling myself this as much as you because my scale is not moving this week!) We can do this! -
So how are we going to do this? We could have a separate thread for each challenge. Water challenge thread and exercise challenge thread. Then will everyone post daily their totals or just set a goal or what? What are your thoughts? I agree.. those two (water and exercise) are definately the hardest for me!

See, this is why I have resisted thus far. I don't want to feel like that either. Although, I would like a record so if I am not doing so well, I can look back on what I ate when I was doing well. I totally get where you are coming from on this.
