Hi everyone! I have had a bad couple of days, food-wise. Funny thing, though, is I really haven't eaten much! Sort of reverse of what I used to do! Friday: B: half a Protein shake L: nope D: half cup turkey chili but didnt even finish it. Today: B: nope L: nope S: cooked up a storm today so I picked on that stuff... it was all veggies D: half a baked panko breaded tilapia fillet and four pieces of diced peaches Not sure where my appetite has been. My band feels very tight and I am having trouble going to the bathroom. That is two more reasons to get on the program with my WATER!!!! I just don't know why I struggle so much with the dang Water. :blushing: On a positive note, I have learned this week that I need good food choices ready to go in the fridge. If I have to cook when I am actually ready to eat, I choose not to eat. So today I cooked: -big pot of meatballs -large batch of chicken salad -roasted sweet potatoes with apples -roasted butternut squash -roasted cauliflower -broccoli salad Lots of yummy choices, just heat and eat!

That is awesome that you posted, Mary. I, too, am trying to change my bad habits. That is why I post so much... to 'stay in the game'. Not slink away and go back to my old ways. I am sure you will get that pesky pound to go away quickly! -
It isn't official until tomorrow but I have lost 50 lbs!!! I am pretty excited about that... seems like a pretty good milestone! Today: B: blackberry carbmaster yogurt with half a tiny banana L: seriously don't remember eating lunch today... humph D: about a tablespoon of each- roasted chicken, roasted butternut squash, a wedge of roasted potato, 3 roasted baby carrots, and homemade stuffing (with apples, pecans, raisins, sausage, celery, onion etc) Looking at my menu in black and white here I am a little concerned about my Protein intake today. Must do better tomorrow.

Hi everyone... haven't posted, everything is ok. I have just been very busy and a little bummed. Nothing band related, just life in general! I have been eating my normal stuff, Protein shake for breakfast, turkey chili for lunch etc... so I won't bore you with the days I missed Today- B: strawberry banana carbmaster yogurt and a third of a banana L: about 2/3 cup of turkey chili with cheese D: half a meatball with parmesan crisp S: 4 toasted coconut cashews water: bad bad bad today! I did have a bit of a NSV today. We had ice cream sundaes in the break room today for a safety celebration. I decided I could have a tiny bit after my lunch today. By the time lunch came around, I wasn't really in the mood for it. In the past, I would have had some 'just because I could' and it wouldn't matter if I didn't really want it. So I thought that was pretty cool progress. :scared2:

Hi everyone... Today- B: Protein shake with pb and banana L: boston market frozen entree- meat loaf and mashed potatoes with gravy. I had a third of it. It was yummy! D: half a meatball dessert- made homemade ice cream with ricotta cheese... VERY delicious... but NOT a low cal/low fat/low sugar food. I put one scoop on a cone- didn't finish cone. I am sure my calorie count was up there. That ice cream was pretty decadent. I don't feel bad about it... it was planned. I enjoyed it and now it's gone. Gotta go pack my gym bag for tomorrow!

Hi everyone... Today- B: Protein shake with pb and banana L: half a meatball, half a parmesan crisp D: wasn't really hungry so I had another protein shake (same as breakfast) Exercise: 15 minutes of Biggest Loser Wii and 25 minutes glider Water: not even close  I have a couple of observations. First, I realized I want to plan things now. I told my kids today that we will plant a garden in Feb. I was so exhausted before from being morbidly obese (being diabetic without controlling it didn't help either!) I didn't even think about doing anything physical. Now I am planning things! That is sort of cool. The other thing is... my husband joined the gym! I had this surgery as much for him as for myself. He is very heavy- BMI 37.5. It is all belly fat. And he smokes. I always felt I couldn't say anything about his health if I wasn't doing anything about mine. And I always felt if only I could get control of myself, he would follow suit. Well, he is! I haven't said a word to him... he is so stubborn, it would be counterproductive, he has done it entirely on his own. I am so happy!

Hello all... Today- B: a third cup of chicken salad- wasn't in the mood for Breakfast foods L: 1 square of thin crust pizza (cheese) with a blackberry carbmaster yogurt D: half a panko breaded tilapia fillet (baked) and 5 baked sweet potato fries Today is my 3 month bandiversary. My husband took my 3 month picture. wow... VERY sore today! My arms and chest were incredibly sore. Plus, I have a HUGE bruise from my flu shot. I felt like I wasn't in control of my muscles today.. it was kind of funny. Definately made cleaning my house a challenge! Oh, I bought the new Biggest Loser Wii game with both Bob and Jillian. My plan is to try it out tomorrow. It is supposed to work with the balance board. I am excited because it has some yoga in it. I have terrible balance. I really want to work on that.

Hi everyone! Happy weekend! Today- B: chocolate Protein shake with pb and banana L: a third cup chicken salad, about 6 diced pears D: half a meatball with roasted cauliflower water- actually did really well today with water! exercise- appt with the trainer today- did 1 hour of weight training and then 15 minutes on the elliptical Had to nap when I got home! I got my flu shot yesterday. I forgot when I got it last year, I felt the same way. Just very sluggish and blah. Probably bad timing with the flu shot and scheduling the trainer. Should have thought that through a little better, I think! Oh well, it's done. I am sure I will feel better tomorrow! Oh and about my trainer appointment. I haven't seen the trainers since before the gym opened. I signed up while they were under construction and signing people up in the trailer on the property. So my measurements were taken a year ago. I weighed 230 then. (I got heavier after that!) So by that, I have lost 38 lbs, 4 inches in each thigh! And wait for this one.... 5.5 inches in my waist! I think measurements are going to be fun now! LOL!

My motivation to exercise.

I stumbled across a website that actually did this for you once. I can't find it anymore. It's a great idea! -
Hi everyone! Today- B: vanilla Protein shake with bananas and strawberries L: half a meatball with 8 garlic pita chips D: third cup of chicken salad with 3 club crackers, 1 cube of cantaloupe Had a meeting today, there was lots of food. Sandwiches, chips, etc. I wasn't even tempted. Everyone kept apologizing for eating in front of me but it honestly doesn't bother me. On another note, my chocolate protein came today from unjury. YAY! I missed not having the chocolate. It's my favorite. I have an appointment with a trainer at my gym tomorrow at 10am. Looking forward to it. <---- putting that down so when I am complaining how sore I am, I can remember I was excited for it!

I was so busy posting recipes, I forgot to post my food! Tuesday: B: vanilla Protein shake with strawberries and banana L: honestly can't remember... huh... D: chili cheese fries-homemade. 6 french fries covered with a quarter cup of chili, cheese and sour cream. Along with some roasted cauliflower Wednesday: B: vanilla Protein Shake with banana and pb L: a third cup chicken salad with 3 club crackers D: scrambled eggs with ham, cheese, onion, peppers and a few bites of pan fried potatoes with parsley Exercise- gym 1 hour. YAY!

While I am at it, I will post my chicken salad recipe. It is the other thing I eat all the time! I make a large batch and eat it for about a week. 2 rotisserie chickens half an apple- I use gala pecan dust mayo vanilla yogurt splash of milk celery salt Strip the chicken off of the 2 rotisserie chickens. I use the food processor and chop it up. I move the chicken to the bowl I am going to store it in. Then I process half an apple into tiny bits and add to chicken. Then I put a 50/50 ratio of mayo and vanilla yogurt in the food processor along with a splash of milk, celery salt and blend. I pour that over the chicken and mix well. I keep a container of ground up pecans in the fridge at all times. I basically put them in the food processor until they are dust. For a batch this size, I would use about a quarter cup of pecan dust and mix well. For best flavor, let sit overnight! YUM!

Hi Becky! Sure, I would be happy to! I make a large batch so you could scale this down. I typically mix ground pork and ground beef. If you mix them, I use more lean ground beef. If I just use ground beef, I will use less lean (like about 85%) 1 lb ground beef 1 lb ground pork 2 eggs bread crumbs- I don't measure so maybe a cup? salt and pepper to taste 4 cloves of garlic, minced half an onion, diced finely fresh italian parsley, finely chopped 1/4 to 1/2 cup raisins (weird, I know.. trust me!) Sauce: 2 cans Hunt's Four cheese Spaghetti sauce 1 can petite diced tomatoes 1 can tomato paste First I make the sauce and set it to low. I also add about a tablespoon of sugar. Mix all the rest of the ingredients well with your hands and form balls about the size of a racquetball. Drop them into the sauce. I turn up the sauce to bring it to a boil and then turn it back down. I let it simmer for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally. To serve, I will cut it in half and then serve with a little extra sauce and fresh parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

Hi everyone! I didn't post yesterday because we spent the night in the ER. My son swallowed a screw at school!!!! He is fine.. no jagged edges or points so it will pass. Geeze!!!! Anyway, B: vanilla Protein shake with 3 strawberries L: third cup chicken salad with 8 pita chips Ok, I had dinner at 1am. We stopped at Jack in Box on the way home from the hospital because we had not eaten dinner. I hadn't eaten since 11:30 in the morning! Everyone was starving. So I had- D: JITB steak and egg burrito. I ate the insides of half of the burrito. I didn't quite finish the half but I also had two of the mini churros. It was good. I had to force myself to eat slowly because I was truly 'out of control hungry'.

Hi Petunia! The simple answer to your question is yes and no. Am I stuffed 'full' with what I eat? No. Am I satisfied? Yes. I haven't had a fill yet but I think I have some decent restriction because certain foods I am actually 'full' with a half cup. It's odd... it varies. I would say I can definately not eat more than a full cup of food at a time. Keep in mind, too, I try to follow my band rules from my doctor. I am supposed to stop eating after 20 minutes. I have kind of stretched it to 30 because I am super cautious and eat really slow so at the beginning I wasn't even able to eat a third cup of chicken salad in 20 minutes. Oh, and about my meatballs.... I make them myself and they are very big! I would say they are about the size of a raquetball! Half a meatball mashed up with sauce is about half a cup.
