  1. Awesome, glad I just signed up. My surgery is on Friday, I am getting nervous!:cursing::biggrin::mad2::thumbup: But I am excited at the same time.

After the surgery, you will notice that food does not taste the same, this will take some time to get adjusted to. I noticed that starches tasted bad, however, that was great it just helped me lose more weight. And after the first fill, you will have to basically force yourself to eat you 3 meals a day. That will not be to hard but you will notice that you will go 4 to 6 hours be you even start to get hungry.

    Hang in there......

  2. I think that is great. I had my surgery on June 16 and I am down 65 lbs as of now. I was one of the luck ones that did not experience any side affects at all. However, you will do fine and some of the challenges you will face after surgery is you will notice how much food is a focus on everything you do. DO NOT let that get you discouraged, it is just a phase and that too will pass.

For example, I was one week out of surgery and the family wanted to go eat bar-b-que, well I did not want to go in the first place and I ended up going anyway. I sipped on tea and bean juice, it was not that bad. Just remember your goals and keep true to them and flourish as you lose weight, towards a new life.

Hang in there... your new life starts in a few days....

  3. I have been experiencing great weight loss, I was on a platto, however, I started to see weight loss. So far I am down to 379 for the first time since 2007 and have lost over 59 lbs in the last 2.5 months. I am starting to feel great. Thank God!!!

  4. Well, I finally got banded on 06/16/2009 at 8:30 am in the morning. After a two week Protein diet I lost 31 lbs. From 438 to 407, in two weeks. The surgery went well without any problems and so far after 27 hours later, I have not had any problems with anything except some slight soreness to the cut areas. I must be one of the luck one's in this situation. I am only on Clear Liquids for two week more. Question what are some clears stuff that I can take does anyone have any suggestions.

  5. Well,

I have 10 days to go before the band. I started my liquid diet monday and have lost 20 lbs so far, however, it is a struggle when the family wants to eat normal gfoods and I am stuck on these liquid diets - Protein.

Tonight my wife said that she was hungry and she was going to DQ, all I thought of was popcorn chicken. Man do I miss that stuff.

  6. Well, I am about to join you in your venture. I go on my liquid diet on monday the 1st and my banding date is June 16th. I got this AMP Product called Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 fron GNC. It has 20 grams of Protein per scoop and if you want more just add a scoop to get you 40 grams. Carbs are 7 grams per 3 scoops and 2 grams of sugar per 3 scoops. This was recommended by GNC. I used to take a HRM liquid diet and fould out that I was latose tolerant. So, I changed it to non latose. I was instructed to go on the liquid diet as well. So others got to go on an Atkins Diet. It has something to do with the liver, trying to get it smaller prior to surgery.

  7. Well I had my pre-op consult with the surgeon this morning. DH went with me.

The surgeon did a great job explaining how the band will HELP me to lose weight -

and all that ...she went through meds, Vitamins, foods, exercise, family, etc. It was very good.

And I have my surgery date -- which was pushed back a few weeks due to work related things that I HAVE to get done..........

    April 28, 2009!!!!!!

I am so excited -- but I have 6 weeks to wait......ugh! But I know they will/should fly by........I have a 7 day cruise just before I start the 14 days of shakes.....yea!! Those should be some good before pics!

That is great news, I have been waiting for some 3 years, now that I am 50 lbs heavier, I now have my surgery date for June 16, I can not wait...

  8. The job is with the State, So, in order to return I need to be 100% as to my improvement. I have to have a release signed by my DR stating that my injury to my knee, is now at 100% improvement. I am a Officer of the State.

  9. The more I read the more I can not wait for my surgery. I weight 430 lbs, 69.4 BMI, Severe Obstructed sleep Apena, Diabeties, High Blood Pressure, High Cholestrol.

Is is true that one of the biggest inside laughs is the patient calling the next day wanting to know if they should take their diabeties meds when sugar is normal.

    Trying to save my career....

  10. I am in a new challenge, I weight over 430 lbs, bmi at 69.4, I just had surgery on my knee, and I seriously need to loose some weight. I am experiencing difficulty walking normal, I am only 44 yoa and I was told by my surgeon that my knees are that of an 60 year old with arthritis, I am still off work and can not return until I can run 1.5 miles in under 15.2 minutes, 300 meter run in 90 seconds, 45 setups, and 20 pushups in 1 minute. I am sad to say that I am struggling with the knee not wanting to work right. However, I was just approved to have the lap band and that will be on the 16 of June. I can / can't wait.
