  1. the foaming is more like a PB.. sliming is the saliva type stuff that comes up into your mouth that is produced to ease a "stuck" down through the band. this would usually happen to me when i eat too fast. if you are not getting full on less food, you probably need a fill, but, really start to eat slower or the PB'ing will get worse!

  2. hello-

i was banded July 13th and lost about 20 so far incuding preop diet. i had a 2 week plateau where i lost nothing post op (after liquid stage) ..but got a fill on aug 10th. now i feel good restriction. i may have lost more since my fill, (but haven't checked only because it is that time of the month and i don't want that clouding the real weight). the first fill makes a big difference in feeling full and not being so hungry.

  3. Someone once said on here its like an airlock. There's air in your stomach, naturally and when you swallow, sometimes the food blocks air in there that cant go down or up, so you get that pressure feeling, the golf ball. True stuck that's going to result in a pb to me doesnt feel like the golf ball, it hurts much more specifically at the stoma.

Now this an explanation that not only makes sense, but souds like it actually feels... to me. :w00t:

but i would sure be interested in what your doc explains to you.:sneaky:

  4. what a fantastic idea. renewed motivation is key.

many of us are food addicts, and like any addict, if you fall off the wagon, it's like you never stopped using, you start all over again from scratch. i am not saying you are an addict, OR that you fell off the wagon, just comparing how important starting over is on such a tough, life-long, journey.

    great idea! Best of luck!!

  5. my heparin injection was low on the front of my belly and very bruised... many injections are also given in the hip. the other bruising... all over the abdomen.. is clearly from the incision areas and all the work done there, but the belly and hip sure sound like an injection site...and they always feel lumpy and sore in addition to the bruising.

  6. Kat--

You have spoken my story. I am almost in tears this morning after gaining another pound. I lost 16lbs. the first five days after surgery and then stopped losing. Now I'm gaining a pound every few days. I have read what everyone says and am trying to keep my sanity-- but it is HARD and very DISAPPOINTING-- and unless this has happened to you-- you don't understand.

I know its too soon. I try not to look at the scale. But I just put my family into debt to have this surgery and lose weight-- I only consume 800-1200 calories a day-- and am not being successful. Someone asks me every day "So how much weight have you lost now?" And what do I say? I lost 16 but now I'm only down 9.

I know I have to stay positive-- and I am most days. I know I have to be patient-- and I am most days. But some days I feel heartbroken and like a failure. I feel like I try and work hard and always end up in the same damn spot.

The good thing about this forum is that you guys don't let us feel sorry for ourselves for very long.

yes- this has, hands down, been the hardest part of this whole thing so far. i fully understand why they call this bandster hell. i continue to think positively and sometimes it is very hard...especially when the scale is not on my side. i am finaly starting to drop a pound here and there, but am focusing on my first fill. the important thing for me was to not throw in the towel due to lack of progress now.... much like i had done with every diet attempt in my past. i do not want this to fail... and you have so much invested in this. focus on your upcoming fill(s).

I do wish you the best. we'll do it!!

  7. Thanks for the kick in the @$$ everyone.

i guess i just fealt that since i was one of the lucky ones who had a fill at surgery, and that my surgeon said i would feel restriction, that maybe bandster hell was not a phase i would suffer through if i demonstrated dilligence.... NOT SO!

i am in no way going to give up on the band this early...and LBT is soooo helpful in getting me through that let down after stepping on the scale. thank you all sooo much for the inspiration:-)

Jennifer & Michele... I Love You Too, and thanks for being right with me through this. And Michele, you are soooo busted for conspiring with my daughter via email to hide my scale :)

    i am working on the scale obsession :{

    XO

    -kat

  8. no... i had no bruising... but here is a guess... could it be the extra heparin (blood thinner) that everyone gets during surgery???

there are a few nurses on this forum...Restless Monkey and Unforgettable... you should get some firm feedback on this question. Good luck

  9. thanks... but 15 of those pounds were pre op liquids. but i do appreciate your words... and i am trying to get the hope back to push forward another week ... many have advised me to put the scale for a week... but if i got on the scale this morning and compared it to last week at this time.... the depression would be so much worse.

but thanks again! i do appreciate kind words and motivations more than i can say!!

  10. I have tried to stay positive, I have stayed with the program to the letter, I get on the scale at the same time every morning, I want to continue to have hope... but like all the diets all the years before, stepping on that scale, instead, is sending me into depression...especially now when i have had the highest of hopes ever having the lapband.

-i was banded 18 days ago and have been back to full activity, including my karate classes for over a week (docs approved)

    - i had a fill at surgery and feel "some" restriction, BUT, will get stuck if i push it (twice). averages per day are 900 cals , 28 carbs and 52 Protein... DOC agrees i should be losing weight with these averages and something is wrong. He wants to wait til sunday to check my weight before we do anything yet.

    - i recently uber increased Water intake (peeing all day) and cut out all salt.

    - my measurements haven't moved either since 4 days post op.

i have lost nothing... in fact ...i have gained a pound

so goes the story of my entire fat life... only the most restrictive, unhealthy, self-depriving of diets have EVER worked for me...and of course with those, it all comes back when you eat normal again (15 of the 16.5 lost per my ticker were preop liquids). i know it is early, but really, i do not see a light at the end of my tunnel.:crying:... what more can one do??????
