  1. Hey lol...they were all great with the pre-op stuff, the hospital is really nice! I was and am a nervous wreck! I totally made a fool of myself too! I told you that I hated needles...I threw up after they got done taking my blood...I could not calm down fast enough! Sigh...now they tell me they will give me lots of meds before surgery so that any needles that come near me will be after I am drugged out of my mind! I totally feel foolish, but oh well, this is me and I HATE hospitals! I got my pics of my kids hanging up abouve my bed, and one of my from smaller years, I keep telling myself this is for me and them, but yeah I am still a mess! See you guys soon, I can't wait! <3

  2. Okay so I am here, gowned and awaiting surgery in about an hour. I have embarrassed myself by falling apart a few times, they definitely know that I am nervous. I am excited to be starting my new life though! On the ride here from San Diego there was another sleever who got hers done a year ago, she was about my weight going in and now is 120lbs. It was nice to talk to her. She has no regrets and loves her sleeve! She is now getting everything made pretty again...lol...you know boobs fixed, Tummy Tuck, all that good stuff! Anyways, I will report later if not too drugged up!

  3. Because no one has really brought it up I thought you would like to know what I have been told. I have surgery in 2 days, I weight lift and play volleyball regularly, I was very concerned that I would not be able to continue as hard after the surgery. I was told that I needed to wait a month to do the weightlifting, but volleyball and other cardio was recommended as soon as you felt well enough. My advice would be yes do it, but at first don't push yourself too hard, give it a month then have at it! My friend is a trainer and after a month I plan to start working with him. The more muscle you have the more fat you burn!

  4. We'll (me and Ruthi) will look for you on the 11th after our pre-op tests and expect you to check up on us on the 12th after our surgeries ... we'll "party" together ... I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a safe journey and surgery on the 10th.

    :wink0::thumbup:

    I am so excited that you guys will be there! It somehow makes it easier to know that someone else that I know will be going through this with me while I am there and we can visit and compare...well for the short time before I leave. But hey, you will definitely know what to expect going in!

  5. Hmm...so I gotta ask this of you girls, my husband would have no clue! I have an IUD...will getting the sleeve next week mess with that? I have very very light TOM now with the IUD, like hardly there light! I sooooo don't want that to get screwed with, its the reason I had to get it in the first place!

  6. Well it is about 36 hours before I leave, I am getting less nervous and more excited each day! However we will see how I am doing tomorrow! I have my bag mostly packed, and tonight I go to dinner at my favorite Chinese restaurant, a break from my lower carb diet this past week. Tomorrow I plan to eat very light to prepare for all the blood work that comes Tuesday A.M. Anyways, I will let you know how everything goes when I get there. Any last minute advice is always welcome!!!

  7. You know, I told my immediate family and made it well known I wanted no one else to know. The funny thing was ther person who I thought would be most against it, my thin sister in law, was the one who supported me the most, she was really happy for me. My mother, who is big, and has many health issues, was the one that had the hardest time, mainly I think because she is scared. I plan to tell people later, once my weight loss is no such an issue and I won't have people watching me constantly because of the surgery. As for what I plan to tell people that know I had surgery, I plan to tell them I had a hernia that needed to be fixed, and leave it at that.

  8. My husband has already started whining about how much this will end up costing after all the "followup surgeries" and new cloths! LOL He is milking it and telling me how much I owe him and I better make it worth while and keep him happy! I think he is secretly really excited for all of it!

  9. I am paying cash, however if I needed to I would use my credit card before getting a loan. If you have good credit you can ask for a check from the company...tell them you are going to deposit it to pay off other cards or something, typically they charge a 3% fee (there are some that have a limit on the fee of like $150). You can check all of your cards to see if one will offer you a great transfer rate for a year or so...most right now are around 2.9%. Take the balance (unless your original cards rate was already low) and transfer it to the low balance card. If you do it right you can finance your surgery for around $600 extra + the 2.9%. I had to become creative while my husband was in grad school and first starting out in his practice, I did this a few times! It ended up saving us so much money in the long run, especially since at that time you could get 0% transfers and I would just keep transferring. However right now the transfer rates are a bit higher. Best of luck, hope this helps!

  10. Okay...so question...I don't break out in rashes, but if the tape is left on my skin for too long, my skin will actually like, I don't know the best way to describe it is, like melt. So, I am thinking I would need the other tape, but i want whatever will be best to help everything heal. What should I get the paper, or hope that I will be okay after 7 days? My husband says just get the paper to be safe, but you guys have used it, what do you think?

  11. I am not here to bash anyone for their decisions, but I will say that I looked into Dr.'s in the US extensively. Especially ones in Oregon and Washington, I went to a few seminars also. After that I can tell you, there may be Dr.'s here that do the sleeve for $11k, but I have never found one, so they are not ones in this area who are most experienced. The Dr.'s in this area who have the experience (not as much as Dr. Aceves, but decent for a US Dr.) are all charging around $20k. I have absolutely no problem with someone staying in the US to have the surgery if that is what they are comfortable with, but we have to be realistic about the differences. You will NOT be getting the same quality of care, the highest caliber surgeon, and you will be going home the next day. You can go to the old boards or ask WasA...I was nervous about going anywhere other then the US when I finally started looking for a Dr. also, but the more I researched, the better I felt about my decision. I have four little kids, and I want the best surgeon possible so that I have the best chance of making it home to them. Had that been in the US and I found the only difference had been money, you bet I would have forked out another $10k without blinking! I did not find that to be the case though! Now there certainly are good Dr.'s in the US, ask Mac, but if I can get the same or better treatment south of the border for a total of $10,200 (including plane tickets), well it was a no brainer for me. Another thing that just added to my confidence was the fact that my husband, who is a Dr., did not even blink when I brought up going to Mexico for it. He knew that I would get safe quality care from Dr. Aceves and had no problems with me going, even without him. (He has his own patients that he can't leave on short notice) So I figure if I found out nothing but good about Dr. Aceves and his staff, and he had no issues with it, then I was making a good decision.

    Whatever you decide best of luck in your surgery! :thumbup1:

  12. I have mine listed as wanting to lose 75lbs because I don't want to get ahead of myself. I would love to lose about 20lbs more then that! When I started losing weight I had an additional 90lbs on me so I know how you feel! Just keep working at it! You can do it!
