  1. Okay so I need some help! I still can't take in much liquids (Renee has tried to get me to go in for IV Fluids but I don't think I am that far gone yet) I am on full fluids and can't seem to find anything really I can take! I need advice on what works best! I have tried Tomato Soup, different kinds of smoothies, stew and bean and bacon Soup blended up, Atkins shakes, and whey Protein Shakes. I can't take more then 3-4 sips and sometimes that makes me feel ill!!! The only thing I have been able to get down..about (2 oz or so) was the carnation instant mix I made for my kids and that is not really ideal... Please let me know if you found anything especially good that might help me get more into my body...the past few weeks have really sucked food and liquid wise! Thanks all!

  2. I learned the best trick to remove the adhesive! I was in so much pain from being allergic to the adhesive and just could not get it off, Renee told me to go to a pharmacy and get adhesive remover, but they had none! I asked the pharmacist what he would recommend and he said olive oil first (which I had tried) then he asked if I had heard of "goo be gone". It is organic and so long as you keep it out of the wounds should be fine. I got it and did not have to scrub or anything just lightly wipe over the adhesive 2-3 times and it was gone! I felt so much better when it was off!

BTW...I still have tape on 2 sites, I figure it will fall off when ready and is not bugging me. (Its the white tape that hurts me) I took the drain cover off at about 8 days and it is doing great as is the other site on my left that came off!

  3. I was wondering to those who went to another city, state or country for their sleeve surgery, did you ever wonder what would happen if your surgery wasnt successful or if something horrible happened? How did you handle those thoughts? I guess its kinda scary to have these thoughts and know that you will be far away from loved ones.

I know, im a worry wart or are these thoughts normal? I have been considering all of the what-ifs. Im sure its pre surgery anxiety talking......

It is perfectly normal to worry before! I can't tell you how many anxiety attacks I had before I left...and I had less then 2 weeks from when I scheduled my surgery. I worried what would happen to my family, that I did not want to die, blah blah blah....honestly I finally had to just say "you will be fine" everytime I started to worry during the day. At night...well that was much easier lol, for that time before I left I took tylenol pm everynight! I never laid in bed worrying. But don't worry, once I got down there I knew I was worrying for nothing, it is wonderful!

BTW...my family brought up almost every point that yours did, just as adamitly too. I finally said "I am done, leave off or don't call me 'til I come home!". It was the last I heard any bad comments because each one knew I was serious. :001_tongue:

  4. You don't actually need a passport, for the month of July you need proof that you applied for a passport. Your receipt will do just fine as long as you are not flying. If you drive into Mexico the receipt for your passport is all you need.

I am pretty sure that changed in June. Now you need a passport or a passport card. Before June 1st you did not.

  5. Hey Kristopia, I know it is not the location, but I wanted to let you know that for the month of July Dr. Aceves is running a special and it is $8750 instead of $9500. This is only for July, but hey if you have the money now, why wait? I am one of Dr. Aceves past patients also, and soon my sister will be, I think he is the best, but I know alot of people say that about their surgeon. Best of luck with whomever you choose! I am sure you will do great! Your story rings true to so many on here, take care!

  6. I only got one...oh well, was there anything important in it? Things I HAVE to know?

***Pre-op I got one, but it was just things to sign I thought...I will go look for it, but lol I may have left it. I guess I may have gotten it and trashed it, but I read all through it and did not see anything other then papers to sign and the one document that had already been e-mailed to me.

  7. It was in paper work they sent me home with. I had a really hard time wtih that. I could drink 2 oz at least every 5 minutes and it was really hard for me to go slow.

Hmm...I did not get any paperwork sent home with me...the only things I got were my x-rays and surgery report. What other paperwork did you guys get?

  8. I don't remember anything about that either...I just went back and read some of the paperwork and could not find it. It probably has something to do with training yourself to recognize when to stop eating. I can't fathom being able to drink that much right now though! I am just starting to have less pain when drinking and can only drink like maybe 1 oz every 45 min....maybe. :-)

  9. You know, I love Dr. Aceves and his staff! It really is not like going to Mexico, don't let that scare you! You drive up to the border, drive through and you are in Mexicali, the hospital is 3 minutes away! Don't let the fear of being in Mexico keep you away! I have only been home almost a week and I can honestly say that I would never go anywhere else or let my family go anywhere else! Best of luck!

  10. I still have yet to have any issues...I think it is because I am not taking in enough fluids to effect me. I have barely gotten 20oz a day in, but so far today I have managed to get 17oz, so it looks like things are looking up! I may get 30-40oz in today! The only thing I am not looking forward to are the BM's everyone talks about! :)

  11. Is that allowable? My BP medicine isn't even the size of a baby aspirin and if I broke it in half or quarters it'd be really tiny ... the effexxor I can break up too if that is permissible at this stage of the game ... I'm really really struggling here.

    Hey Hun,

When I talked to Renee about taking meds she told me that I could break them into small pieces and not have to crush it, she said just make them really small! Take care! I'll be calling soon! Oh...and if you need it I have Dr. Campos number.

  12. Thanks for posting that picture. It's adorable. i am so glad you were all there at the same time. That's so great!

You'll feel better really soon. I guess I don't know how lucky I was that I could drink a lot of liquid without pain right from the beginning. I wonder why that is.

I have no idea, I have heard that for most people it is easy. I still can't drink really anything, my tummy cramps right up. I am pretty much living on popcycles right now, I have one every few hours. It is the only thing my tummy wont cramp on, but it is starting to worry me a bit. This is day 5 and I would think by now I could handle other things. I am gonna wait another day and see if it improves and then call Renee again if it has not.

I loved that picture, even though we were all pretty drugged up in it! All the girls agreed I could put it up, we thought it was fun, it was great having them there.

As for pain progress, the only place I still hurt is where the bag was, none of the other incisions hurt at all. However where the bag was is still pretty painful, but hey its only been 5 days and I am a wimp! I am staying with my mom right now so she can deal with the kids while I rest, so that helps! I have great family support!

    Update you all soon!

  13. Are you still on pain meds? How much pain med and for how long did you need it?

I actually am still on pain meds...I have a very low pain tolerance! I can't wait to get home and get some good pain meds! I left the hospital this morning, everyone was wonderful to me. Ruthi and VegasAngel were doing so awesome, I could not believe it! They rolled Ruthi into her room and not 5 minutes later she was walking into Vegas room where we were talking! I am still in alot of pain and can berely tolerate a few sips of Soup, everyone including Renee assure me this is normal for about 1/2 of the people and give me another day or two until I feel much better so cross your fingers for me!

I just got to the airport where my flight was suppose to leave at 5 pm...I sooo was not going for that with how I am feeling so my sister and I both just got upgraded to first class on a flight 4 hours earlier! (I think my sister is kinda glad I am still hurting because of the upgrade lol)

Susan, Ruthi and I took this picture last night, we called ourselves the sleeve girls to everyone. Thanks for all the good wishes! I am thinking of you Susan and Ruthi!!!C:%5CDocuments%20and%20Settings%5CMe%5CDesktop%5Cpics%5Csurgery021.jpg

  14. Heh... you are in for a treat today. ;o))))))

Come back and let us know how the "yummy" one went. (this is the true initiation of being sleeved)

So I had the yummy one..it was not nearly as bad as I had been led to believe, but it was far from good!!! All was good with the test though! I saw Vegas angel before her surgery, but missed Ruthi. V.Angel is in recovery right now and doing well! They took my patch out so all is good except the cramping that I get when ever I try to drink anything. They tell me it is from the gas and should stop soon, I really hope so! I walk alot and do the breathing thing, but it does not seem to improve. I think my body is mad at me right now...lol. Anyways, talk to you all soon!

Oh btw...for anyone considering, I have NEVER been treated better at a hospital or been to one more clean, every one here is sooooo wonderful! Lucy and Sergio are there for me when ever I need them and Dr. Aceves comes around 3 times a day to tease me, aside from being sore (duh) this has been a wonderful experience, if you need to do it!

  15. Day 2...I feel pretty miserable today! Everything hurts like I was run over and I have thrown up 3 times, which sucks!!! Ladies try to avoid doing this! I am almost off my IV though and just starting to drink Water and tea, so I think things will be looking up from here out. The gas pain so far has not been horried, but I keep a heating pad on me at all times! Breathing is a bit easier...make sure you walk and use your breather...it hurts but most definently helps!

The incision sites hardly bother me, only the one for the bag. I am very excited to be able to move foward with liquids, though my tummy may not be! Thanks to anyone who called the room here or asked about me, I was told they were getting them and had to ask my permission, which I gave.

    Take care all!
