    First Procedure

I have not even gotten the sleeve yet, but I have warning my husband that in a year or so the boobs and tummy are most likely gonna need some work! He just tells me one step at a time, but after 4 kids...yeah gonna need something!

I think in some cases you are actually right, that was my first thought when I read OregonDaisys post. My second was given time, most will learn, you can't expect all of them to come here knowing English, aside from that in most other countries women are not educated as well as men are, so they are at a disadvantage to begin with.

I was just going into the kitchen to make my daughter a 1/2 of ham sandwhich on whole wheat...it was 17gm of carbs per slice (not counting other carbs that were in the sandwhich), man did that hit home. Then I figured, I wont be eating it anyways, it would be waaaayyyyy too much food for me! Do you know how excited that made me?!? It is just awesome to think of!

Wow...You cut all carbs? I am honest with myself in knowing that I could not do that...I can however commit to whatever carb intake I have to be quality. Having little kids and a busy husband just about guarantee the fact that there will be pasta and other such carbs. Hopefully I am active enough that with the small portions and healthy carbs I will still lose weight at least relatively fast! I plan to concentrate on making sure I get some type of chicken each day, with veggies or possibly brown rice. I can't eat seafood, aside from shellfish, lol, so I figure chicken is my next best bet! To be sure I get the protein I will keep using the protein drinks. It will count as my water anyways, so even one a day will help. I am pretty active and workout already 2-3 times a weeks and plan to increase that once I am feeling better after the surgery. I guess we just cross our fingers!

Thanks Wasa...after looking more I found some 8oz bottles that have 0 carbs and 15g of protein. I figured it is easier to drink 8 oz at a time then 20oz! I went ahead and ordered 2 cases, I had a coupon so they were not that bad, and if I don't like it I have 5 other people in the house that would probably drink them. I would rather spend a bit of money and have it here then stress over it later! Thanks for telling me no so I looked a bit deeper, I just assumed they all had the same carb count!

Mmk so another question...I had bought the Isopure 20 oz 0 carb and like 40g protein, ready made drink. I am thinking since I will be returning the IDS (found out I can) that I need to buy some more. So my question is this...should I get more of the 0 carb, or should I get the 8oz size that has 60 carbs and 15g protein? It seems like that would be easier to drink in the beggining. Any thoughts?

I was not going to mention names, but yeah in Dr. Zapatas paperwork it says it was $500 to repair if you had one.

I can imagine that in AZ you have an overabundance of illegals, I am in Oregon, we have quite a few here also, but probably not nearly the same. I thought you did have to be a citizen to vote...I know my husband could not until he became a citizen. Is it just they register illegally or what? I don't understand how you can get around that. No worries about having a short fuse over the matter, like I said everyone is entitled to their opinion, I feel just as strongly about mine as you do yours, thats what makes USA so great right! Anyways, we got a bit off topic lol. But hey getting off topics once in a while is kinda fun!

    Sleeved and Home Again

Well I agree that people need to come legally. My husband came from Taiwan and had to jump through so many hoops that we both feel strongly about that. My cousin and a good friend are all with the government border patrol. However, my point was there are many people here legally trying to better themselves and people need to realize that not everyone is illegal and there are people here trying that need help. The people I know would never sue over phones vs. live translators, they have a hard time justifying getting a lawyer after a auto accident. They just want to be able to understand, the same as I do in Mexico. I am sorry your hospital had such problems. I would not say that is typical though, would you?

    Sleeved and Home Again

So long as there is someone there I have no issues, and so long as it is the same meds and I can see the labels. I am more concerned if it is something new, or if what they give me is making me sick, or some other problem. I don't expect to be catered to, simply to have someone there that can understand my needs should it arise.

    Sleeved and Home Again

That is your right to disagree, I think that is (no offense) a rather hard-ass approach. Many people who do not speak English family members also do not, they can't afford a translator, and they are trying to figure out what their doctor is telling them. I know of a family that we actually had someone go and translate for them at a hospital because they did not understand what was going on, they had a child dying and could not understand what the doctor wanted to do. We made sure as one of our patients that they had help. I think that is just being a good human and a great doctor. For those of you who think this is the USA and we should all speak English...I know very few immigrants who are not actively striving to better themselves. I don't think people should be punished for trying and struggling. I too do not think people should be punished here for NOT knowing Spanish. I know I am a bit outspoken about this, but if you have never had a mother crying (asking through an employee) for help because her only son is dying and she does not know what to do, then you should not make general statements and assumptions. Again, sorry if I am a bit harsh here.

    Sleeved and Home Again

I can understand your point of view, mine is different. I do think that every hospital should provide translators there in person, for at least the most major languages that the hospital may encounter. My husband is a Dr. We have a clinic, the majority of patients are Russian, or from Georgia, Ukraine, etc...We make sure that there is always someone who can tell them what is going on and translate. If we have a patient that speaks Spanish and does not understand English and has no one with them...we make sure there is someone to help them. I think EVERY medical office and clinic should do this. I will absolutely not take or let someone give me medication that can't tell me what is is, and why I should take it. That is just logical and safe. If they had someone on the phone tell me that would help, but even that person can't see the medication. You may disagree, but if they are willing to treat Americans, they should have someone that can translate.

OKay right about now I am feeling sick....it says it is whey, and I could not find anything bad...until that is I added horse skin into the search! Wasa...I sooo wish I had never read any of this, there is no way I am going to be able to gag that down now. $100 down the drain! LOL Oh well better to know I suppose. The Isopure is good though yes???? I have a case of that coming also, please don't tell me it too is made from dead animals skin! Oregondaisy...I apologize, it seems as though you are right, and I was ewwww grossly wrong!

    Sleeved and Home Again

I understand that, however, in my room dealing with my meds....I want someone who can explain what they are giving me and why. As a nurse you know what everything going into your IV is, I will have no idea without someone who speaks English who can explain it. I am pretty sure that there are nurses somewhere in the hospital who can speak English, I am just going to do my best to ask that I get one. LOL Hopefully that will work!

They are a complete protein source made from whey and is recommended by several sites specific to bariatric surgery, so I assume that they are good to use.

OMG...Not to sound all doomsday because I am excited to go, but that freaks the crap out of me! I don't want anyone giving me meds, or checking on me that I can't communicate with! Scary stuff that!

Hmm...I guess that I read wrong, I looked it up online. 50 calories does not seem to much for the first 10-20 days we won't be getting many else. Thanks for setting me straight!

Wow...I hope you reported the Dr. to the board in your area. That is serious business him not keeping good records! I can't believe that he has not been reported before if you had so many problems! Do a favor for anyone else that may be thinking of using him and file a complaint. Best of luck Wednesday!!!
