  1. Hello Everyone, hows it going? I"m at 4CC still, I was down out for 2 weeks with the swine flu, no gym for two weeks, no restriction, the only difference is if I take a bite that too big........it takes a second then its fine, I"m hoping with my fill next week it all good, they will give me option of an aggressive fill or not, not losing but not gaining so at least I have that, I had a goal of Jan of 140 miles and I missed that........well I'm hoping to make and get the damn scale moving, w hen is the Faulkner meeting?

  2. 26 pounds in 2 months- I'm kind of confussed, because that is amazing weightloss- even above average. Your Dr. may not even give you another fill if you are showing that great of progress. I wouldn't worry until you stop loosing weight- I am 10 months post-op, only had 2 fills & can eat bread any day & still got to goal. Your doing fantastic- keep up the great work!

when did you really start losing? I'm in month 4, I can wear clothes I couldn't, nothing is tight and its loose and hanging off the clothes I couldn't wear, but the scale isn't moving so much

  3. I have the realize band work out 5 days a week and lost only a few more than the 16 after surgery, I've had two fills, my third in 14 days, I have 4cc in my realize band, I too was discouraged, but its not gaining, I have no restriction, good for you on the drinking Protein Shakes, you dont eat solid food at all? I've been sick so I had to miss the gym the last two weeks of the month so I have missed my goal, but I'm staying positive

  4. Hello everyone! Just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year if I don't get back on here before then. I also lost 4 more lbs last week which really shocked me because I didn't get to exercise like I usually do because I was out of town. I also had wine and a little bit of Pastel de tres leches which is a very moist cake and I also had Tamales, but I guess I didn't eat quite as much as I thought. So I am 2 lbs away from Onderland and I still can't believe that 71 lbs is gone and it has only been 5 months since I started the pre-op diet and 4 months since surgery. It also snowed today and it was very pretty. Well getting ready for bed, waiting for hubby in my new nightie I bought for Christmas. It's amazing the confidence I have gained even though I know I still have 60 or so more lbs to go. That is my new year's resolution, to get to goal or at least past 160 which I haven't weighed since I was about 14 or 15. Happy New Year!:)

COngrats, fantastic job, you will do look how well you have done so far

  5. Hello Everyone, I was banded in September and I work out 5 days a week and take the weekends off........I gained a pound, BUT I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in two years, I have dropped alot of inches weight is slow, I've had two fill I"m at 4cc in my Realize band.......next fill mid January, hopefully I'll feel some restriction not really any now, but I"m staying focused

  6. I love my Realize band, when I woke from surgery had a little gas pain not alot, but I think that had alot to do with the anesteologist (sp) I was up and walking the halls 1 hr after I got to my room, could drink everything they gave me with no issue, was up and walking in the park day 3 from hospital, 2.5 miles a day, took pain meds first day only, could sleep on my back when I got home, seriously I worried for nothing..........it was the easiest surgery, weight loss has been slow but I gained a pound during my second fill which was like 2 months after surgery, but I'm losing inches, I'm working out and I feel with my next fill in three weeks I'll feel it...even with the fills its been easy its been great

  7. bostonlady: yes you're losing slower than some but you are still well within the averages for wt.loss. I struggled as well when I went nearly a month with only 1.5# loss ... I seem to drop on big chunks these days.. nothing for weeks then 5-6# loss. I think I hit that big wall at about the point you are. Like you I too work out a lot and hard as well. I tried to focus on the fact that during that biggest period of no wt. loss I went from my jeans being loose to being able to pull them off without unzipping them. Sounds like you're doing the same thing... feeling great, firming up and losing inches but not seeing it on the scale. It's frustrating and I know it's hard... but focus on how you feel and how your clothes feel. We're all a slave to that scale though..I hate when you wake up feeling like for sure you dropped- jump on the scale and you have not. it can ruin a whole day...but don't let it. I give myself a pep talk... try something on that I know was tight last time I tried it on and it always makes me feel better when the cloths prove the scale a liar!

I just had my 2nd fill and was grumbling a bit that I thought I should be losing faster based on tha calories in/out principle. My doctor pointed out that losing 5-8% a month is what he considers to be good... you're well within that range. I also thought that you lose 80% of the wt.you're going to lose in the 1st 8-12 months and that myth was dispelled as well. My dr. and pac both said that for agb... people lose slower and cont. to lose often over a 3 year period. I think most of us, even though we say differently out loud... think we should lose more like a gastric bypass patient... it's hard to not do that comparison.

You are doing great though.. keep it up and stay off the scale. Are you doing measurements? It's never to late to start doing that.

Thank you so much, you have propped me up and now I'm ready to put my mind in a better place and look at the road and not so much at the walls I'm allowing myself to crash into

  8. Hi Bostonlady,

I had my surgery on September 3rd. I am currently down 71 lbs. (20 lbs on pre-op liquid diet). I am currently at 4.5cc in a 10cc band. I have stalled 1 week here and there and I think I figured out a trick to move the scale.

I currently do 4-5 days of 120 minutes cardio (elliptical, treadmill & bike) and 30 minute upper body strength training. I consume 600-800 calories. Since my last fill I have not been able to tolerate bread, Pasta or rice. When I do not see results on the scale, I consume 100 less calories for 1 day then consume 300-500 calories more for 2-3 days then I go back to my regular calorie count on the 4th day. Along with my workout routine, I see the scale move (down of course!) I also switch up my work out routine to make sure my body its getting use to it.

Stay Focused! I’ve also gained since surgery but I refuse to let it deter me and keep doing my routine knowing that the pounds will go away! It’s a battle and the fat WILL NOT win!!

Thanks for the encouragement I needed it thank you

  9. Hello Everyone, Happy holidays, sorry I've been absent, life lol, anyway, I"m at 4cc in my Realize Band which I believe is 9cc band. I've had 2 fills and at my last appt I gained 1 lb, I was disgusted, I work out 5 days a week, I had surgery end of September, but my clothes are loose and I'm down a size, but scale is something else. I took on the December challenge of 75 miles, I'm passed that, I have this cool pedometer that downloads to my computer. I'm just hoping by time time I see the doctor next month the lbs are dropping instead of inches, I have no restriction, but I do not eat like I used to I am learning to listen to my body but I can eat like a 6 inch sub or at least a cup of food at a sitting if not more, however ten after my second fill I seem to have little more tightness funny wasn't at the beginning, anyway, I hope Santa is good to everyone I hope to meet you all at meeting in January at the Faulkner, perhaps that will set me straight so I dont keep beating on myself lol

  10. ok my fellow bandstrs, I was banded Sept 22, by my first post op I was down 17 lbs, I'm on my second fill up to 4cc now and I gained a pound before my second fill. I 'm getting discouraged a bit but not alot, I work out 5 days a week, clock in 7 miles a day on average with this great pedometer that downloads to my computer and tracks it for only $30, but I am wearing clothes I haven't been able to get into for the last 2 years, I have no restriction, my shoulder will ache to tell me I"m full but the scale isn't budgeting and when I gained a pound I was ashamed......I'm trying to stay focused any suggestions? I will keep working out, any suggestions on the eating, I can eat like a 6 inch sub at a sitting well Icould after first fil not so much after second, I dont get anyother fill till Mid January, any ideas?
