Hello Everyone, hows it going? Congrats to newly banded and those veteran banded on the struggle we are doing it. I had my two week postop and I was down 17.5 since surgery. I've been walking an hour 6 days a week. When my steri strips were taken off they were gentle at Dr. T's office, I have never waited more then ten minutes which is only like five because I'm always early. I go to Faulkner, love it easy in and out. I'm on the mushy phase been doing Wendy's Chili, egg salad, mashed potatoes and I have beneprotein that I add which is tasteless and mixes well. My Doctors receptionst always makes sure whatever I call for is taken care of, she made all of my appts to my first fill after my first meeting with the surgeon including calling me back at home and my office when I had a question her name is Yvette and she is so FAB. After reading about the pain on the first fill I was getting apprehensive, but its been a fairly easy transition for me so I'm gonna keep positve that all will stay the same. Also I dont have much scaring after they heal I don't they think you will see much of anything done, except the longest scar at the port but that is really healing well, is this normal with everyone? BTW, Yvette always tell me when I need to see the Nut.......so I never have to worry about asking. So is anyone going to the meeting at the Faulkner on the 19th? Have a great holiday weekend everyone.

Hello Everyone on a rainy dreery Saturday. I hope all is well. I"m still healing well, feeling pretty good, I think the daily walking has helped speed it up,I'm down another three pounds, I dont like weighing myself everyday I think once a week is good but my hubby was curious so there you have it. BTW the syrups by Torani you can find at Marshalls or TJ Maxx for a much better price than the supermarket. I have found the cream soups a blessing especially in this weather. The nutritionist at the hospital after the surgery had some great ideas on what else to eat so its been pretty good. Whomever is going to the Faulkner meeting this month I will see you there. I hate driving in town and its cheaper to park at Faulkner, but it seems like BWH has a larger scale of people including the clothes exchange. But did I tell you how much I love my surgeon? WHen I was in the hospital he went downstairs with me while I did the swallow to personally tell me how it looks and put me at ease. Have a great weekend everyone.

I can't see my port and I think we are around the same starting weight my BMI was 36 and I"m 5'4", I can feel the tightness when I bend, in fact I have pain on my right side in the back I think I pulled a muscle heat relieves it but not from the surgery, but I also had hernia repair, but I'm also walking 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening and starting yesterday every other afternoon 45 minutes in the afternoon, I wanted to try everyday but I dont want to push it and when I meet with Dr. T next week if I can go to the gym thats where I"ll be taking classes I know no weights yet, but determined to work that band as the tool it is. I aslo like the Bariatric Advantage vitaband vitamins it comes to like $20 a month for the bottle so I feel its worth it and it was recommened by 2 different nutrionists I spoke with. the great thing about the nectar syntrax is that you mix with water and taste more like a juice type gatorade and its packs 23 grams of protein

Thanks, yes foliage is coming, trees are turning, although my friends from the Cape say its still green there, thank you for the words, so how has your journey been, what proteins have you been taking? I've found that MIX1 is easy for me and its good, and I'm super grateful for no nausau, gas or pain, I feel a tightness when I move at my port site, but I also had hernia repair so all in all it didn't really feel like surgery. My hubby is from LA, New Iberia.......have you started excercise? Nice to meet you

Here is some info I thought would be helpful to share: Syntrax is offering samples of all 11 of the nectar flavors to everyone for only 4.99 and 5.00 shipping! Thats only 9.99 for the eleven samples to see if ya like any of them. once you order they ship them within 3 days its great. for us newbies on here that can't have anything but liquids this offers a wonderful variety!! I did one of these samples each day and then one of another that i knew i liked. That way it wasnt the same old thing every day for protein!! These aren't as thick as some of the ones I have had so they go down pretty easily. Call 866-333-7403 and speak with customer service!! this website is great: Hungry Girl what do you think of this: Dr. Joel Fuhrman Improves Health - Lose Weight Naturally | Reverse Diabetes | Prevent Heart Disease and Cancer | Lower Cholesterol I thought he made good points and eating healthy is all we hope to achieve right? I've saw this stuff created by a WLS called fullbar? Anyone heard of it? The surgeon has a great reputation, his site: The Official FullBar, FullBites and Aquafull Website: Lose Weight Naturally by Feeling Full Just wanted to share some of these things, I want to be successful and healthy and not adhere to anymore crazy overnite diet drama. Just checking in day 4 after band and doing well. I feel like could go back to work with no issue, but I'm not gonna push it,I'm going to work with my band and get used it to so when I go back most issues will be dealt with. I'm out for 3 weeks. This fall weather feels good, but what a drastic change, but thats new england. So, how is everyone doing? I've been drinking this protein drinks called Mix1 I LOVE THEM, they have antioxidants in them as well, taste like a smoothy but definite whey isolate. I also have the chocolate protein pudding which is pretty good to, if anything its a nice change. I'm not crazy about he 50 grand slam protein from GNC, but its one of those suck it up and drink it, I need the protein this first couple of weeks. Anyone has suggestions on the soup? I'm going out shopping tomorrow and looking forward to it. Like otheres the muscle milk light is pretty good I think too, I had the banana cream and chocolate.

Hello Thinkingaboutit, well I have surgi strips across my incisions no guaze. I"m still relatively pain free except for "the crunch" feeling and not nausau. I found these shakes pre mixed called Mix1, the Mango is great and the blueberry vanilla is good too. For me I get bored eaisly so I had to make sure I had variety on hand, after all its only for 2 weeks so we can all suck it up for that long. I dont have the gas, but they say walking helps, I'm so sorry your in pain. They told me the surgi strips will fall off when they are ready just dont scrub in that area, let me correct myself I just picked up the packages its called steri strips. I believe someone on the boards said nexcare at cvs has a brand you can use to put over the wounds if they fall off too soon. I also heard that anything with sucralose in it can make you gassy. Keep positive thoughts and think by SUnday how much better you will be.

Hi There Bostonmomma, everyone is different in regards to their insurance. Some insurance will make you go to a nutrionist and do the 6 month thing, while others like my insurance didn't, I have Harvard Pilgrim. I started in June and was banded in September. I also did my psyche and sleep study prior to meeting my surgeon. For me the best thing was making the appt with the surgeon the day after the info meeting and having my pcp schedule the other tests. Remember I'm a newbie and the are far more experienced people here, however thats my story. If you have questions about my specific surgeon or my process just let me know, it was really a breeze and not stress at all.

Yes it felt like finally being in control in a positive way and taking responsibility. I have to say I feel truly blessed I was able to lay flat when I got home, walked around in Walmart when I was released from hospital waiting for script to be filled, ate and drank with no problem, so far so good. I'm SO glad I had my post surgery box ready and full so I just had to get what I needed without much fuss. I was also glad they let me wear my own PJ's in the hospital. I will be thinking and praying for you thinkingboutit, congrats on the weight loss, your already on your way good for you. Don't know much about the ticker thing, sorry. To a wonderful day and rest of the week for everyone. I"m going to try to make the meeting at the Faulkner on the 19th. HUGS to everyone

Just got back from upper GI, its not bad at all, its only a cup with about 1 inch of liquid, of that liquid you have to drink 1/2 inch. Its bitter and sour like a bad cough medicine, but not chalky at all and its over is less than 5 minutes from drink to xray and back on the bed for transport back to your room. thinkingabouit , you will be fine, stay excited and just think tomorrow at this time you'll be done.

oh I forgot to mention at Faulkner, I was wheeled into the operating excactly at the time they said I was to have surgery, when I went to registration they were great even walkied me over to the surgery department, surgery department took me right away and I changed, they let me keep my glasses and logged them and Dr. Tavakolizadah spent like 15 minutes talking to me along to keep that wonderful calm feeling, my husband and mom said it calmed them down with the wonderful way in which the entire team was, Dr. Tavekolizadah even went to find them outside of the waiting area when I was finished to update and when I would be in my room WONDERFUL , it gives me great hope on this start of my new journey
  21. Thanks for all the good wishes. I'm still at the hospital, everything was exceptionally except for the nursing staff second shift, but the nurses on the other shifts were great and I can't see enough about the surgical team. I am clausterphobic, so they knocked me out before the mask which was great and we had a long talk before surgery, he said he put medicines in to for nausua and gas and I have to tell him, I had slight discomfort with the shoulder yesterday its all gone. No nausua, having no issue with water, the heprin shot were no issue no burning, my throat is soar from the tube but nothing to complain about. They say I should be released this evening. Haven't done the dye test yet. Got up and walkied even did the little stairs they have here in the hall no problem. The staff has said my incisions look great and when the surgeon went out to meet my husband and mom he said it went remarkedly well. One thing I am finding as alot of you said, the more I rest the better I feel, I'm not pushing it but it doesn't feel like major surgery at all, of course when I get home without the morphine that might change, but all in all, like I said previously, it mostly just feels like doing over 100 crunches and port side is just a little soar but no great pain. Happy Hump day everyone.

Hello, well I'm in my room surgery went well, just feel like I did alot of crunches, then again could be the pain pump, but I'm ready to get up and walk, they had to fix my hernia, I had nauseau when I woke up but one shot and now I'm fantastic. My Realize band comes with a card to log in on the site. This journey has started out oh so well and I thank god for continuing to do so. I might take a nap, but WOW I feel good. The three things I was most worried about were nausea, gas pains and port pain. The nausea is gone, I have some mild gas pains across the front of shoulders but NOT bad at all just feels like a pulled muscle and no port pain right now, like I said feels more like alot crunches. I'm glad I brought my laptop what a release
