    Tufts Nemc???

I did!! My surgeon was/is Dr. Shah. She's so nice. Overall I really like the program. Without it, I dont think I would've been ready for such a life changing event. I'm seven weeks post-op today. And I had my first fill last week. Everything went fine. I'm super happy that I went to Tufts NEMC for my surgery. Everyone has been really great.
  2. Like Kakki, I too had that emotional meltdown. I cried for days... What did I do?? I'm going to miss all my favorite foods!! Once I was able to "eat" again, and get off that liquid diet, I was so much happier. So yeah, I kinda wish I was told that that meltdown is normal. I felt like such a failure that first couple of weeks. But now I'm doing so much better. And I absolutely love watching the weight go down on the scale!
  3. Ok sorry...I'm not in my twenties. Sue me, haha, but I liked this thread. You know...I was going to buy myself a Coach bag when I lost 100 pounds, but I like the Bahamas idea so much better!! Actually...okay after I lose 100 pounds I want to go to Aruba!! Woohoo. Screw the Coach bag.

How often do you weigh in?

While I really want to weigh myself daily (who knew that would happen??), I really can't anymore, and I do it only once a week (on Monday mornings). The reason being, when I would see my "weight" go up, I would get almost depressed. When I talked to my nutritionist about it, she said that at any given point in the day your weight can fluctuate between 3-4 pounds. She suggested I stick to once a week, and I really try to. That way when I see it down, I KNOW I lost weight the past week!

    Eating Before a Fill

On topic: I go for my first fill on 8/5 and no one mentioned not to eat anything etc before going. It's at 11am though...

    Eating Before a Fill

Hi, this is totally off subject, but since all three of you have the weight tickers, I need to ask...I TRIED putting in the "code" they give me in my signature but for some reason it keeps saying invalid code. I've tried putting all of it, some of it...can you guys help me? For the first time ever I want to display my weight! haha.

    Digital Bathroom Scale Recommendations?

I got my scale at Kohl's. Of course I cannot remember the name of it, but it wasn't Biggest Loser or Weight Watchers. Nor Conair. Kohl's had a lot to choose from. There were good sales. So I finally chose one that told me information than I would possibly need: Weight, BMI, water weight(??)...and it was glass. Very nice. It has weight in pounds and ounces (digital).
  8. Also, I'm not sure you'd be interested, but if you'd like to email instead of trying to use this freaking messaging system on this site, you can totally feel free to email me. jen.morrissey@yahoo.com :)

  9. I bought a food scale. The only time i used it was to see if 1/2 cup actually weighed four ounces. Which it did. I dont know...maybe the manwhich sauce weighed it down? I'm guessing I'll use it more when I'm preparing raw meat like steaks and chicken breast. Technically I'm only supposed to be eating 3 oz of meat, but c'mon. That's less than a 1/2 cup. Give me a break. So you'll get to schedule your fill tomorrow? Awesome. Let me know when it is. Again, mine is on the 5th of August. I'm not really dying of hunger so I wonder if I "need" it, but I mean, I didnt get hte band put in so that I dont get it filled!

  10. Not down any sizes. But I do think my shirts fit a little better. I think my boobs are shrinking. Which is fine with me because they are so monstrous! But I'm bummed that I'm still in my 16 size pants. I actually tried on a 14 and wasn't even close to fitting into it. SAD!!!

  11. Ok, I meant www.amazon.com why can't I type anymore???

  12. I wanted to tell you about this book I got. It was actually recommeded to me by my nutritionist. It was written by a former nutritionist at the same hospital whre I had my surgery. I got to look at the book in her office before I bought it. But I ended up buying it on www.bn.com (but its also on www.amaxon.com ) Its called Recipes for Life After Weight Loss Surgery. By margaret m furtado. Its mostly all for like 6-8 weeks post op...so when we're back on regular food. But they have great recipes in there (since you're uncreative like me!) and picture. I just wanted to recommend that to you! I bet it will lhelp.

  13. We're both pretty close with weight loss. Which is good. Because if you were like 'I've lost a million pounds" I'd be like, "I hate you. Dont talk to me!" haha.

  14. I've lost 26 since pre-op. (I barely lost 9 pounds before my surgery. Whoops!) Honestly, my favorite thing to make is "taco salad". I buy the lean ground beef. use taco seasoning. reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese. Fat free sour cream and some salsa. I've had no bad reactions to it. And I love it. It's better than Egg Beaters all the time. I've tried some different chicken sausages too (maple apple and a buffalo chicken). I like those. i'm not very creative either. At some point I'll make some chicken breast but haven't even bothered yet.

  15. I took off one week. You know, some folks don't have any pain, but for some reason I was DYING on the left hand side. The doc said they cut through muscle there. So it was really hard for me to sit up straight for any length of time. I also have a desk job. Hilariously, after only a few days back, my department (without me!!!) and another one, got together to have a huge Potluck meal before the long weekend. My boss brought in the most hugest pan of Chicken Broccoli Ziti. I was miserable at my desk while everyone else ate and I was still on a liquid diet. But okay, back to my incisions...yeah, I was in pain. But I had the surgery on Monday the 22nd (of June) and went back the following week. I could've used a few more days. But it's a desk job. I sucked it up. When I hear that folks go back to work the next day I'm like Wha????
  16. I lost almost 2 lbs last week. my n ew scale as ounces on them. So I didnt go down exactly 2 lbs. (just shy) but I'm going to pretend like I lost two pounds. haha

  17. The weekend was pretty okay! I actually went to Applebee's (shhhh). They have a Weight Watchers approved meal (4 points I think. Maybe 7.Either way I'm NOT doing WW) where the steak is 4 oz, which is exactly the size I need. Comes with steamed veggies (which I didnt touch. Because I thought the broccoli would be too much for me) and boiled potatoes. I just smooshed them with my fork to make "mashed" potatoes. Came with a brown sauce which I got on the side to dip the steak in to help it go down better. Everything was fine. And I felt like a normal person!! But I laughed so hard at the sight of a 4oz steak. It was puny!

    wound care

I was specifically told not to submerge the incisions in water; bath or pool water. I even asked at my two week follow up if I can go swimming yet and she said no. To give it at least another couple of weeks for the wounds to heal. I only had glue on them. and one scab is gone already. a couple others have very big ugly scabs that just don't want to fall off. The incision below my bra line is so annoying...because my bra sometimes rubs up against it. It's the longest and looks funny to me. But I guess they are all healing okay.
  19. I'm lucky I got a picture of myself for the avatar! No idea how to use the weight ticker thing. If you figure it out, let me know. I have not microwaved the egg beaters. I'll have to try it. I havent lost any weight this week, granted I havent gained any either. I'm a tad disappointed but at least I'm not gaining. And I'm doing the regimen the nutritionist gave me. So I trust them. I'm just so impatient about the weight loss. Have a great weekend!! IT's finally not going to rain in Boston this weekend, so I plan on enjoying the sun! Jen

  20. As for the turkey bacon, I got Butterball because a) its a name I trust in turkey and B) I think the protein was higher than some of the other ones I looked at. And honestly, its not bad. It's a nice addition to my Egg Beaters. I never ever thought in all my life I would be eating Egg Beaters and Turkey bacon...yet here I am!

  21. I definitely wish you good luck. And some self control. I'm surprised I haven't gone out and got a slice a pizza which I craved so bad after my surgery. But right now I want to see some results and get used to the band. I wouldnt fault you for enjoying yourself (especially since you dont have any restriction) at the Crabfeast! Dont be so hard on yourself!! I'm still laughing at "tolerate eating a horse" I hear ya!! I haven't been too too hungry but right now I'm feeling it. And I only brought jello for a snack at work. Ugh. Dumb move.

  22. I meant fat free sour cream. I guess I have cheese on the brain. Shock

  23. OMG, I HATE exercising. I think that's why a lot of us are in this scenario right now...our bodies don't like to move. haha. I alwys liked my bacon super crispy, so with the turkey, it still has that crispy salty taste. Which was fine with me after two weeks of liquids. I also cooked lean hamburg last night with taco seasoning. Added low fat shredded cheddar and fat free cheese for an impromtu taco salad. Yummy! Only 1/2 cup of meat. I dont think I could've eaten anymore. I have my first fill on 8/5. When is yours?

    I Hate Protein Shakes!

I use Lean Body for Her by Labrada. They come in three flavors: Soft Ice Cream Chocolate, Soft Ice Cream Vanilla, and Soft Ice Cream Strawberry. I have both Chocolate and Vanilla. Now I don't confuse these for soft serve ice cream, but I dont find them gritty. AND they have 30 grams of Protein in each serving. So that would really help me get in my protein for the day. I also use it in my Magic Bullet and mix it with ice. So its more of a "frappe/milkshake" (again, its not fooling me). I highly recommend them.
  25. Overall I would like to lose a hundred pounds. But I'm not picky. I mean, I was up to 242 and I probably would've just gained more. So to get back down to 175. That would be nice. I just got cleared for food today. It's actually harder for me to get in all my protein now. Which is so strange!! But I'm so happy to be eating anything. I tried turkey bacon for the first time today and now I love it! In the past I wouldn't have touched it...ever!! Hey 20lbs is 20lbs. Celebrate that. But yeah, not being able to go out and eat and drink is a huge bummer. Maybe I should've had the surgery in the winter!
