  1. You are lucky that you are moving onto stages of real food. I don't even get soup or yogurt until Thursday. I wonder what would be good pureed too? Can you puree a cheeseburger? Lol... yes, it's still on my mind. Can you eat cottage cheese? That is in my "soft foods" stage and I can't wait 'cause I love the stuff. I can't wait until I can start eating "real" meals again, though. I'm looking forward to week four of my diet because I can start eating soft fish! Yay Friday fish fry!

    How much???

I am not allowed to have soup yet, but I am drinking protein drinks (milk + protein powder) and I am able to drink a whole glass in about half an hour with little to no discomfort. I drink one for each meal and don't usually snack in between, maybe one or two popsicles a day and that's it.

    Wish List!

So I wanted to start a thread where everyone writes 10 things they want to do after they lose weight. Here are mine: 1. Wear knee-high boots 2. Wear shorts (without having to worry about them riding up) 3. Shop for clothing by what I like and not by what will fit me 4. Sit comfortably in an airplane seat 5. Be picked up by my boyfriend 6. Cross my legs without having to reposition my whole body 7. Never have to worry about "weight limits" again 8. Like the way I look in pictures 9. Feel comfortable in my own skin 10. Have cuter feet

    a couple of summers ago

Oh what a cute mother and daughter! Is that headband to keep her ears from getting water in them? If so I'm really jealous 'cause I remember the days of the rubber caps that pulled your hair!

    Wish List!

Don't feel vain at all! You just want to experience all the things that your weight has kept you from. Maybe it is a little vain of all of us, but maybe that's just what the doctor ordered I hear ya on movin' like a person instead of an elephant. I can't tell you how many times I've knocked things over with my hips or my butt!

    **Light Bulb Moment**

Do not worry about the clear liquid diet. The two days before surgery of course you'll be hungry, but it will probably be several days after surgery until you start getting an appetite again. By the time you're really wanting to eat again you'll probably be onto the next stage of your diet. The idea of surgery is scary to most of us, but it's worth it in the end. You just have to keep your eye on the prize and realize it will be done and over with before you know it. Former is right, keep your mind on something you could never have because of your weight and that will help motivate you to stay on track. Good luck!

Yay! I'll raise my soup spoon to that!

How long btwn bowel movements ??

Hey lady. I didn't have my first one until the 4th day of surgery and then I had my second one on the same day (today). My doctor prescribed my a stool softener pill, but the pharmacist actually suggested something less harsh. I took the pharmacist up on his advice, and I'm so glad I did. If you don't want to go the harsh laxative route might I suggest Pedia-Lax. It's a liquid stool softener that you mix with juice or milk and it's generally meant for children. Anyway, I haven't felt like I've taken a laxative at all besides the yucky taste of the stuff. Also, are you still taking your pain meds? The pain meds will back you up, so you might find that you're more regular when you stop taking them if you're still on them. Just my two cents.
  12. Jason: I support you 100% in your decision. You were able to lose almost 100 pounds without the Lapband, that is no small feat. It is more than possible that you will be able to reach your goal and of course losing weight naturally is always a safer and healthier option. I really hope you do well and please keep us updated with your progress. Maybe you could start a blog about your weight loss so we can watch you shrink! God Bless!

    August 17th!

Good luck on your surgeries tomorrow ladies! Broth, yuck! I would rather starve than drink broth. Bleh
  14. Wow! Eight pounds in two days! Congrats. I haven't started a walking routine, but I am pretty mobile. Today I tried doing my wii fit, but I was only able to do about five minutes before I started to feel really tired. Healing really takes a lot out of you! But I shall use you as inspiration and take a walk today! Keep me updated lady, you sound like you're doing great.

OMG!!!! I Finally feel like me...

I'm so glad that you're back to feeling like yourself. I think the first week or so post-op is the scariest part about the whole surgery, because you wonder if you're ever going to feel normal again. Like Former said, it's all about taking baby steps. I applaud you on your #2's... I just had my first since surgery and I had to tell everyone (I'm sure they weren't as excited to hear about it as I was, though)...lol
  16. I don't think you're being over-sensitive at all. It SUCKS when everyone else is eating and all you have is your stupid drinks. However, I suppose it is just something we all have to get used to. We can't expect everyone around us to change their eating habits just because we have. We're going to be in a lot of situations at home and at work and out with friends when we're going to be tempted with things that we simply cannot eat. But don't think I'm siding with your family. Last night I watched my boyfriend eat an entire Burger King Whopper meal. At first I was jealous, but then I was just disgusted. Ewww

Your 1st goal and reward !!

My first reward is at 40lbs, I thought this would be a good first goal because whenever I used to diet I would get to about 30lbs lost before I would fail or plateau or something. But anyway, I'm going to get a nice pair of boots to go with this sexy wool jacket I bought for this winter. What? I live in Wisconsin.
  18. LL67. I don't really have my appetite back, but I think I am suffering from "eyes are bigger than my stomach" disorder... i.e. I really want to eat a cheeseburger right now, but obviously I would probably not be able to get more than a bite or two down (not that I would try it at this point ladies). I get hungry when I see other people eating so I assume that it's just all mind games for me. So what are you doing to keep yourself from starving on that liquid diet? Lots of soup? You know, I have never liked soup and I think after this experience I'm going to ban in altogether. Lol
  19. Hey I tried to comment on your blog but I guess my browser wouldn't let me or something. Anyway, your hospital stay sounded just like mine! Hilarious about the morphine... ha ha Glad to hear you surgery went so smoothly.

  20. I'm good thanks for asking. I think I'm actually starting to get hungry. That is good because at first I could hardly manage to drink anything, but it's also bad because it could mean I'll gain weight before I get my first fill. I am so excited for you and I'm glad the pre-op diet is going well for you. I had to eat a lot of popsicles and jello to get through it.

    abbypoo!!!!!

Wow Jason, 50 Heparin injections! I thought I was going to have to take Lovenox injections after my surgery but my doctor said I didn't need them. I had a Heparin injection before my surgery and a Lovenox after my surgery and the good news is that they don't hurt at all. I didn't even feel the needles, just a slight burning sensation from the actual injection. I've heard it's because there aren't too many nerves in that part of the stomach. You are lucky that you live so close to where you're having surgery. That will make it so much more comfortable for you when it's time for you to go home. Do you know how long you will be staying in the hospital?
  22. I am doing pretty good. The first day pre-op was absolutely miserable for me. It wasn't just because I was in pain, but also because I was just REALLY uncomfortable. I also had a six hour car-ride so that was fun... Sorry to hear about your gas pains. I have been lucky enough to not have much problems with gas, but I did have a fever scare the other night! Everything is ok, though. I'm glad to hear from you and that your surgery went so well.

  23. Haven't seen you on the boards. How's it going?

  24. How did your surgery go? My first day post-op was rough, but I am doing remarkably well today. Let me know how you're doing!

  25. Oh I agree, I must have made jello every day that I was on the pre-op diet. But no worries guys, you won't even feel hungry for quite a while after surgery. So the end is near!
